As people continued to bid, she looked at Alessandro who's gaze was set forward, seating beside her, he hadn't bid even once.
Soon after they brought out another item… it was a stone.
It sat in a velvet lined case under a single spotlight, roughly the size of a fist, deep blue with threads of gold running through it, from where she was seated, the gem looked like it was breathing, and Elena felt her breath catch before she could help it.
"Stunning!"
She whispered, mostly to herself, her eyes fixed on the stone under the spotlight, completely unaware that Alessandro had heard her.
"Now ladies and gentlemen! This is the heart of the world as they call it! It's very very special."
The man said pointing at the stone.
"The starting bid is one million dollars." He shouted raising his finger to the crowd.
"1.5million!" A woman shouted from the crowd.
Then suddenly Alessandro raised his hand.
