Chapter 141 - 141: A Goddess Fruit

Robin was clearly excited at the thought of replacing her Devil Fruit. After all, who in their youth would not want to wear a beautiful swimsuit and enjoy the sea?

As for what ability would replace it, she did not seem particularly concerned.

Robin might not care, but Ash hesitated.

The ten slots of the Demon God System were already filled. Only two positions remained among the Twelve Ancestral Witches, the Water Ancestral Witch Devil Fruit and the Lightning Ancestral Witch Devil Fruit. However, during the bonfire celebration after the repair of the Thousand Sunny, Ash had already promised these two abilities to the Skypiean warriors and the Sky Island guards. It was part of his plan to bind the Shandians and the Skypieans together under a unified force.

Robin was still new to the Dawn faction, yet her importance placed her above Wyper and the others.

The legends of the Cathay pantheon had already spread throughout the Dawn faction. As an archaeologist, Robin naturally knew them well.

This meant that the Devil Fruits Ash could assign to her had to be of a lower tier than the Demon God System and the Twelve Ancestral Witches.

He quickly ruled out the second-generation Demon Commanders and Great Witches. Figures like Xiangliu, Houyi, and Xingtian were not suitable.

Then, the name Houyi sparked an idea.

Houyi... and the tale of the woman who ascended to the moon.

Ash was not thinking about Chang'e as commonly understood. In truth, Chang'e was only a title used for female immortals residing in the Moon Palace. That title alone did not compare to beings like Demon Gods or Ancestral Witches.

The true Moon Goddess held the title of Taiyin Zhenjun, equal in standing to the Sun Lord.

There had been many Sun Lords and Taiyin deities in the mythology, but for Ash, only one mattered, the wife of the Divine Beast, the Taiyin Goddess Changxi, born from the moon itself.

Xihe was also the Divine Beast's wife, but she represented the Sun Goddess, not the Taiyin Goddess.

In terms of status, aside from Changxi and Xihe, only figures like Fuxi and Kunpeng could compare to the highest ranks.

Ash paused.

If Robin partially transformed during battle and gained a serpent tail…

No, that image was not worth entertaining.

He immediately dismissed the thought.

When Ash asked if she was satisfied with the Taiyin Goddess Devil Fruit. She brushed her hair behind her ear and replied in a steady tone.

"It's fine. It's quite good."

Ash suspected she was teasing him, though he had no proof.

He spent one hundred energy points to create the Taiyin Goddess Changxi Devil Fruit and handed it to her.

What she would do with it afterward did not concern him.

The Dawn faction had no shortage of fighters. Combat would rarely fall to these women unless they chose it themselves.

After reclaiming the ability of the Hana Hana no Mi from Robin, Ash shifted his attention back to the battlefield.

On Kaido's side, little had changed.

He was still swinging his kanabo and roaring as he unleashed Thunder Bagua, now battering eleven opponents instead of eight. Under his relentless blows, the fighters led by Sali endured like tempered steel, each strike hammering out their weaknesses and refining them further.

Meanwhile, the battle between Pini and King had shifted dramatically.

What had once been evenly matched had turned into complete suppression.

To an observer, it might look like Pini had broken through a bottleneck and grown stronger mid-fight.

In truth, he had discovered King's weakness.

Not long after taking over the fight, Pini noticed something strange.

Earlier, his arrow had not even carried full force, yet it managed to slice through King's mask and cheek. But once the battle intensified, even his strongest attacks failed to inflict any real damage.

It was not just reduced damage.

It was no damage at all.

Pini was stunned.

What kind of defense was this?

Was King another Kaido?

But that did not explain why his earlier attack had worked.

With sharp observation, Pini began testing different strategies. He used the speed granted by his Wind and Lightning abilities to constantly adjust his position and control the battlefield.

Then he noticed it.

Whenever King accelerated to close the distance, the flames on his back disappeared.

At that exact moment, Pini's attacks became effective.

This time, King did not tank the blow. He dodged with full effort.

Moments later, the flames reignited.

A flash of realization filled Pini's eyes.

He had found it.

King's weakness.

From that point on, the strategy became clear. Either overwhelm King with force or exhaust him until he could no longer maintain those flames.

Breaking through directly was not an option.

So Pini chose attrition.

As the only long-range archer of Diwen Village, this was his domain.

Countless wind blades filled the sky, mixed with lightning spears that rained down relentlessly. The battlefield turned into a storm of destruction, both beautiful and deadly.

King could no longer move freely.

He focused entirely on maintaining the flames on his back, knowing that letting them vanish would expose him.

But maintaining those flames consumed far more stamina than Pini's attacks.

For Pini, sustaining this barrage for days was entirely possible. Even while resupplying, he could keep the pressure constant.

At this point, the outcome of the battle was no longer in question.

The only uncertainty was how long King could endure.

And once he fell, the Beast Pirates would have no one left capable of fighting, aside from Kaido himself.

Imma just leave that whole explanation as it is, changing it would ruin the whole concept, and most people would be confused if details were omitted.
