He clutched his head as an intense amount of pain exploded in his head and scrambled his mind!
This was a Psychiatrist's 'Frenzy' at the Sequence 5 level!
The 'Frenzy'—performed likely by his cat Nyx, who was still in hiding through Psychological Invisibility!
The traveler groaned as his sight darkened with blood. He had to escape!
But Jace wasn't done yet. The moment the traveler faltered due to the effect of the frenzy, Jace had his marionette use a power he had recorded from Catherine.
His marionette's eyes glowed as two lightning bolts shone within them.
Crackle!
The lightning shot out from his eyes straight to the traveler and hit him!
As the lightning hit him, the traveler finally groaned heavily and let out a low shout!
This was ' Psychic piercing' of a ' Interrogator' at sequence 5 level!
Jace took this opportunity to use the 'imitated theft' through the Polymath Ring and steal the power of 'blink' from the traveler.
He stole 'blink' because it was likely the only way for the traveler to escape from Jace's grasp right now; as for the 'traveling' power, the traveler would likely not be able to use it in this extreme, frenzied state since it wasn't as instantaneous and instinctual as 'blink'.
"Argh!, Haaa!...", the traveler was all over the place. He was walking around, falling to his knees, his skin had darkened, and his eyes bled; he was losing control and suffering...
"Freeze... don't move...", Jace heard the childish, high-pitched voice of his cat Nyx out of nowhere. The voice was soft and serene, filled with compulsion and hypnosis directed at the traveler.
Jace now stepped out of the reflection. As he appeared in the living room, he immediately started controlling the spirit body threads.
Since the traveler was already on the brink of losing control, it was easy for Jace to control his threads.
A minute later, Jace had already gained the initial control and now he was in the process of marionettization.
Thud.
The Harold marionette fell down to the ground.
Jace, unfortunately, still could not control two marionettes at the same time. He would be able to do so when he digested about half of the Marionettist potion—which he hadn't yet.
According to what he felt, he had digested more than 35 percent of the potion, which was quite significant considering he had only become a Sequence 5 about three and a half months ago... 'It's likely because of the Dream Walker marionette...' he thought.
By now, seeing that the situation was under control, Nyx had finally revealed herself. She sat on the table before the couch, looking at the twitching figure of the traveler...
"Is it done?" she asked, looking at Jace.
"Not yet," Jace answered, as he focused on controlling the threads...
Soon the twitching of the traveler stopped. He stood up casually, as if he had not just been suffering the worst pain of his life minutes ago. He turned his head to Nyx and said, "It's done."
As he controlled his new Sequence 5 marionette, Jace finally heaved a breath of relief. 'It's finally done.'
He walked over to the couch and sat down with a relaxed posture, his eyes closed. He suddenly felt his potion digest a little more, almost to the 40 percent mark!
And it made sense. Jace had met Harold over six months ago, and that was also when he made the plan to make the traveler his marionette through Harold.
From that moment, he had prepared for it: he became a Sequence 5, then he made some good marionettes like the 'Pyromaniac' and the 'Dream Walker'.
Then he prepared and made Harold the Scribe his marionette quite easily, and then through Harold, he prepared and made a Sequence 5 Traveler his marionette!
This was how a Beyonder from the Seer pathway was supposed to be—foreseeing and understanding things, then preparing accordingly and taking action with almost no chance of failure!
As he relaxed, Nyx jumped on him and rested on his stomach. He held his cat and petted her as she purred.
Meanwhile, his new marionette walked over to the dead body of his previous marionette.
Over the body, the Beyonder characteristic of a Scribe had already formed in the form of a shimmering, eye-like sphere with something like diamonds embedded in it.
The characteristic started floating in the air and arrived in the traveler's hand. Jace inspected the characteristic for a moment and then put it in his/traveler's pocket.
Then he made his marionette open a door to the spirit world on the wall. The dead body of Harold levitated in the air and was smoothly thrown into the mystical door of the spirit world.
This power of telekinesis was called 'The Invisible Hand'. It was the power that evolved from 'Object Manipulation' of a Trickmaster at the Sequence 5 Traveler level; it was quite useful, and Jace liked it.
He was also glad to see that there was actually no damage at all in this place throughout the fight... well, it couldn't really be called a fight, it was just a well-planned ambush.
After cleaning up the place, Jace, still laying on the couch with his cat, checked out his new marionette by completely possessing it.
The body of his marionette was old, but by no means was it weak though it was normal. Well, Beyonders of the Door pathway never really had a power that enhanced their body, but this problem could be solved by an artifact.
As he had expected, this traveler was indeed a man who had fully digested the potion.
As a Scribe, he could record about 4 Demigod powers, 20 Sequence 5-6 powers, and about 40 Sequence 7-9 powers.
And he was right to steal the power of Record first; as he had suspected, the traveler did indeed have an arsenal of lethal Sequence 5 powers, and not only that, the man also had 2 demigod-level powers!
As for what they were... that was for another day. Currently, Jace was too tired for that shit...
Jace stopped the marionette possession and made his marionette walk into the kitchen to wash the dishes he had used for breakfast...
Jace opened his eyes for a moment and looked at his marionette as it walked into the kitchen...
'He never stood a chance...', Jace thought.
The traveler was just one Sequence 5 even if a strong one, while on the opposing side there was Jace, Nyx, and the marionette Harold.
Two Sequence 5s and a Sequence 6 against one Sequence 5, and then there was Jace who was from the Seer pathway...
The outcome was already decided.
