Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: A Deal From A Deity

"You don't even ask for our size!" Arminius shouted from afar.

However, Rohan ignored him and kept walking. This time, he moved at a relaxed pace, and along the way, he spent some time looking at the system interface.

I have twenty-six days left to finish the primary quest and the emergency quest.

As for the quest about building a church, he thought he could finish it tonight, or maybe tomorrow if he slowed down and gave his body some rest.

And also, the primary quest no longer worried him. Now that he had plenty of money, he could come up with plans to gain followers with ease.

The emergency quest, however, remained the most difficult and stressful. He might be able to make some progress, but that didn't guarantee he could keep it up over the next week or two.

Especially now that the shadow cult had lost an influential member within the city, the rest of them would naturally be wary and prepared for incoming attacks.

Rohan believed the emergency quest would only become more difficult.

That reward better be worth it for finishing this ridiculous quest...

Also, I wondered how much progress David had about Gherman right now.

Rohan kept thinking about many things on his way to the city, not only because he wanted to be as efficient as possible, but also because he needed to distract himself from the pain coursing through his body.

And at some point, he heard a voice.

"Rohan, you're a quitter, a scammer, a liar, a disappointment."

"And perhaps, that's why you're trying so hard right now, trying to prove that you've changed."

Rohan didn't react. It was as if he knew where the voice came from, and as if it didn't affect him in the slightest. He simply kept walking.

Not long after, he finally passed through the city gate. However, he didn't head straight to a clothing store. Instead, Rohan wandered around the houses for a while until he found one with a septic tank.

Tiara and Diana were confused. Why would Rohan stop in front of a septic tank?

They were about to find out.

Rohan summoned the sword from his inventory and stared at it.

Ever since the sword had absorbed the Divine Steel of Storm, it had been trying to communicate with him, offering a deal.

The deal was simple. Rohan would have to free Leviathan's true body, and in exchange, Rohan would become that deity's blessed.

However, Rohan had no interest in becoming the blessed of any deity. Besides, he knew that freeing a true deity's body would be no simple task. His plate was already full with quests and countless other problems.

And ever since he refused, the sword seemed offended. It had done nothing but spew insults and crude remarks at him, something Rohan had tolerated for a while.

But now, he had had enough of the sword's bullshit.

"You talked a lot of shit today. So as punishment, you'll be sleeping in it for a few days."

Without giving the sword any chance to respond, Rohan dropped it through a small opening into the tank filled with human waste.

"Are you crazy?" one of his bodyguards blurted.

To be honest, Rohan didn't know which one had spoken—Tiara or Diana. He had never seen their faces, and they wore identical cloaks. Even worse, they sounded exactly the same to him.

She continued, "That sword saved your life, and it was a gift from the Lady."

Rohan turned to look at her. "I wouldn't call it a gift. But for the sake of argument, let's say it was. That means it's mine, and I can do whatever the hell I want with it."

Without further debate, Rohan made his way to a certain building, the same one he had visited just a few days ago.

It did not take long before he found himself standing in front of it.

Above the entrance hung a large sign. "Besla Magical Trade House."

Without hesitation, he stepped inside.

Rohan had never thought he would return so soon. It was not just because he had not expected to earn so much money so quickly, but also because he had not expected to lose his precious magical items just as fast.

That ring thieving witch… he thought, briefly recalling Michael's mother.

She owed me a Ring of Punishment, and I wont forgive her for it just because she looked extremely attractive...

But he quickly pushed the thought aside and shifted his attention to Belon, who was currently busy speaking with a few customers. After waiting for nearly thirty minutes, it was finally his turn.

Belon looked at him. "Well, well, well, look who crawled back in. What is it this time, huh? You here to spend more coin, or just miss my charming face?"

Rohan didn't hesitate to go straight to the point.

"Do you have any magical items suited for an Indigo-level mage? Preferably something that can grow stronger when used by an Azure or Cyan mage."

Belon blinked, then broke into a wide grin.

"Oho, listen to this guy, huh? Indigo level, but already shopping for the future. I like it. Planning ahead, very responsible, very impressive."

He leaned over the counter, tapping it lightly.

"But let me guess, you don't just want something shiny. No, no, no. You want something that scales. Something that says, 'Hey, I'm strong now, but just wait till I get even stronger.' Yeah, I know the type."

Belon straightened and snapped his fingers.

"Good news, you came to the right place. Bad news, stuff like that? Not cheap. Like, at all. We're talking painfully not cheap. Emotionally damaging levels of expensive."

He pointed a finger at Rohan.

"So, big question. You got the coin to back that confidence up, or are we just window shopping today?"

"Don't worry about the money," Rohan said firmly.

Belon froze for half a second. Then his grin slowly stretched wider.

"Ohoho, I like those words. Those are my favorite words. Say it again. No, no, don't, I might get emotional."

With sudden energy, he spun around and hurried to a crate not far from him. He flipped it open and started rummaging through it.
