....
The whole of Mustafa felt shivers cascade down their spines as they experienced a tremendous aura for a fleeting second. Mirko, who had been preoccupied with subduing the villains, stood frozen in place, sweat trickling down her brow as her body grew numb.
"W-What the hell is t-that?" She murmured under her breath, realizing that something perilous had just been unleashed upon the city. The villains she was confronting felt their skin grow cold and insensate, rendering them helpless in their tracks.
'I can sense it's nearby.' Mirko's grin widened as she wiped the sweat from her brow, shifting her gaze from the villains to the area behind her.
A thunderous thud resonated through the air.
Followed by laughter that reverberated across the entire city.
"Finally, finally. It feels good to breathe again." Sukuna erupted into laughter, a wide grin plastered across his lips. He examined his form and realized he had awakened within a student's body.
Sukuna stretched his arms wide, shredding the uniform to pieces and leaving the upper part of his torso exposed. "I suppose this vessel will suffice for now. Let us have some amusement."
Sukuna cracked his neck and flexed his fists, walking with an air of majesty, his hands tucked into his trousers.
"Hmm?" He halted, his eyes catching a glimpse of a black rabbit-eared woman several metres away.
Mirko swallowed hard. "Who the hell are you?" She assumed her battle stance, already sensing the immense aura emanating from the being standing before her.
"Who granted you permission to speak?" Sukuna withdrew both hands from his pockets. "First, I must inquire. What era is this?"
"Oh, how ignorant of you, villain." Mirko forced a smile. "I see you are not the type to surrender peacefully. Then I shall bring you to your knees."
Sukuna picked at his ear. "Villain?" He questioned himself before realization dawned upon him. "So this is the era of heroes? How disappointing."
The villains Mirko had been handling saw an opportunity to attack her while her back was turned. They charged forward blindly, but Mirko ignored them, not averting her gaze from the being who stood before her.
"How rude." Sukuna swung his right hand while remaining stationary before Mirko and instantly decapitated all the villains charging from behind. "How tedious."
Mirko's eyes widened in shock as she caught a glimpse of heads flying toward her from behind. 'What the hell did he just do?' She observed all the villains lying lifeless on the ground, their heads separated from their bodies.
The battlefield transformed into a pool of blood as Mirko remained poised for battle. Her instinct urged her to retreat while her pride demanded she duel this unknown villain and ascertain who was stronger.
"I shall ask you this, villain. What is your name?" Mirko clenched her fists, ready to engage.
"How dare you speak so arrogantly?" Sukuna laughed. "You fascinate me, hero. Ryomen Sukuna."
"Sukuna, huh? Show m–" Mirko did not register the moment she was sent flying, crashing through buildings several metres away.
"Heroes? You wear costumes and call yourselves saviours?" Sukuna revelled in his freedom. "In my era… only the strong ruled."
"Freeze!" The few remaining police officers witnessed the scene unfold and could scarcely believe their eyes as they saw the pro hero sent crashing through buildings.
Bang! Bang!
They fired their guns relentlessly at Sukuna, who evaded the bullets with effortless grace.
Splash!!
Employing his technique—Cleave—he slaughtered every police officer and danced as blood rained down upon him.
Mirko lunged at considerable speed, attempting to terminate the confrontation with a decisive heavy kick, but her leg was parried by Sukuna's hand. He instantly slammed her into the ground, compelling Mirko to cough up a mouthful of blood.
"Ora, gambare, gambare." Sukuna seized a firm grip on her rabbit ears and struck her abdomen with such force that she crashed into the ground, a broken tooth escaping her lips.
Mirko could not believe her eyes; she had not ascended to the top ten heroes for nothing. She was undeniably powerful, yet here she was, being toyed with by a villain who had emerged from nowhere.
Her eyes stared at the bright sky, now clouded with toxic smoke, as she coughed another mouthful of blood. Unable to whisper further words, she could only await her demise.
And yet, Sukuna did not kill her. He spared her because she was the first person to mount any resistance against him since he had slumbered for decades and centuries.
Mirko coughed once more before succumbing. Her eyes rolled back, and she fell unconscious, bleeding profusely on the ground littered with bodies and blood.
"Heroes… villains… you are all the same. Weak." Sukuna remarked nonchalantly, staring at the fallen hero, Mirko, who lay helpless with broken ribs and bones.
Sukuna's silhouette faded into the air, compelling the dust hovering mid-air to settle momentarily. He gazed upon the ruined city from atop a towering structure. Houses, roads, and vehicles lay destroyed, thick toxic smoke lingering in the atmosphere.
Throughout the massacre, Ren remained deeply unconscious inside his own body. He was unaware of the events unfolding and would remember nothing of what had transpired.
"Hmm?" Sukuna massaged his temples with a smirk. "Brat, consider yourself lucky I healed your broken bones and wounds." He leaped from the building, causing it to crumble into ruins from the impact of his descent.
His heart pounded loudly as he crashed onto the ground. "It seems my time is up," he hummed to himself with a grin. "Next time I assume control, I shall demonstrate to the world who the true king is."
The black markings on Ren's body began to dissipate the moment Sukuna's control was severed. Ren immediately jolted in shock, feeling as though his head might explode from the sudden headache assaulting his brain.
He felt his muscles ache, some kind of energy coursing through his veins, and behold, he finally grasped the situation he was in. His mind replayed the moment when Mirko had tossed him aside to protect him from the villain attack, but he could remember nothing beyond that.
The more he attempted to think, the more the headache flared within his skull. "It feels weird," the words escaped his lips. "I think I'll take a quick naaa–" Ren crashed to the ground after losing consciousness, without remembering that he had ingested a cursed object and awakened the demon who had ruled the world centuries ago.
Sirens echoed shortly after Ren passed out from exhaustion, and the pro heroes arrived. The heroes came first, followed by police officers led by Detective Tsukauchi, who gazed in awe after arriving slightly late at the scene.
They stood dumbfounded as they beheld the aftermath: roads destroyed, buildings set ablaze with azure flames, and corpses lying lifeless in pools of blood.
"Mm mm kwaa."
One of the officers who had joined the police department only a few years prior vomited after witnessing such a brutal massacre.
"You must be joking." Best Jeanist lamented in agony, his thoughts betraying the vision his eyes beheld. "Why did we not arrive on time?" Guilt washed over him as he realized that if they had arrived promptly, this massacre might have been prevented, and whatever villain was responsible could have been dealt with.
"Mirko?!" Hawks exclaimed, drawing the attention of the other heroes toward the rabbit hero. He rushed to her side and saw she was gravely wounded; if not attended to immediately, she would die from blood loss.
"Hurry, she needs medical attention right now!"
Only Mirko had been spared by Sukuna. The other heroes and officers had been murdered and cleaved in half. "What manner of villain is capable of such deeds?"
"Hey, hey!!" One of the officers yelled. "I found a kid! He is alive but unconscious!"
Detective Tsukauchi hurried forward, glancing at the boy whose clothes were ruined but who bore no visible lethal wounds. "Given the trousers, I believe he is a student at U.A." Detective Tsukauchi retrieved his smartphone. "I shall call Principal Nezu immediately."
"Yes, sir!"
Ren was placed inside the ambulance van, quickly receiving medication and was transported to the hospital.
'All Might, please do something about this.' Detective Tsukauchi thought to himself as he strode forward to meet the heroes.
"It will take a while to clean up this mess."
"That aside, how was the hero research facility breached? Why were we not informed sooner?"
Tension rose among them, making them feel uneasy. "We may have a powerful demon king on the loose. Allowing such a villain to rampage and defeat Mirko is absurd. We have a troublesome villain to pursue."
"Mustafa — no, all of Japan is in danger."
Witnessing such massive destruction and massacre caused by Sukuna sent a message to everyone, including the villains in Japan: they were no longer safe.
"I shall find you." An unknown voice rang out, the speaker burying his face within his hoodie as he leaped down from the building where he had been standing. His silhouette faded as he fled the scene, an evil smirk plastered across his face.
