Chapter 5 - Chapter 3: The Night Splits Open

The city felt different.

Too quiet.

 Too cold.

 Too aware.

Lisa stepped into the street first, her heels clicking against the cracked pavement. Smoke curled around her like a shadow. Behind her, Alan, James, and Adam spread out naturally — four rulers surveying a battlefield.

Their presence alone made the air heavy.

The Aftermath

Lisa's uncle pointed toward the alley.

"Lisa, they escaped through there. They moved like ghosts."

Alan crouched beside a scorch mark on the ground, touching the ash with two fingers.

"Military‑grade explosives."

James tilted his head.

"So… not amateurs."

Adam added quietly,

"And not afraid of dying."

Lisa's eyes narrowed.

"They're sending a message."

Alan stood, brushing ash from his hand.

"Then we should send one back."

Their eyes met again — cold, sharp, challenging.

A Sudden Movement

A faint sound echoed from the alley.

Not footsteps.

 Not breathing.

 Something else.

James reacted instantly.

"Move."

A bullet sliced through the air — aimed directly at Lisa.

Adam grabbed her arm, pulling her back.

Alan stepped forward, blocking the second shot with a metal tray ripped from a fallen table.

James was already running toward the alley.

The shooter fled.

Lisa's expression didn't change.

"They're getting bold."

Alan's voice was low.

"They're getting stupid."

Chasing the Ghost

James returned, annoyed.

"They vanished. No footprints. No scent. Nothing."

Adam frowned.

"They knew we'd chase them."

Lisa looked at the rooftops, her mind already calculating.

"They're testing us."

Alan stepped closer, lowering his voice.

"Or testing you."

Lisa didn't look at him.

"They can try."

A Clue in the Shadows

One of Adam's men approached, holding a small black card.

"Adam… we found this."

Lisa took it.

A symbol was printed in silver ink:

A serpent wrapped around a crown.

James exhaled slowly.

"That's not a gang symbol."

Adam's voice dropped.

"That's an organization."

Alan's eyes darkened.

"And not a small one."

Lisa turned the card over.

A single sentence was written on the back:

"The throne will fall."

The Four React

James:

 "They're declaring war."

Adam:

 "On all of us."

Alan:

 "Good. I was getting bored."

Lisa:

"Find their base. Find their leader. Bring me everything."

Her voice was calm — too calm.

The kind of calm that meant someone was going to die.

The Split

Alan stepped closer, stopping just inches from her.

"Lisa… this enemy isn't like the others."

She met his gaze without fear.

"Neither am I."

James and Adam exchanged a look — half impressed, half worried.

Alan's jaw tightened.

"I'm not letting you handle this alone."

Lisa smirked.

"You don't get to decide that."

She turned away, her coat sweeping behind her like a blade.

"Let's see who falls first."

And with that, the four strongest leaders split into the night — each heading toward their own territory, their own power, their own war.

But one thing was clear:

The enemy had made their move.

 Now it was their turn.
