The Origin cracked.
A sound like a thousand stars breaking apart echoed through the realm.
Kael held Eryx tightly as the ground beneath them disappeared.
"Eryx!"
"I'm here!"
Eryx looked around.
"Kael... what did you do?"
Kael stared at the enormous being before them.
"I don't know."
The Origin's body was covered in glowing fractures.
Silver light poured from each crack.
The creator stepped backward.
"No..."
Kael looked at him.
"You know what's happening."
The creator shook his head.
"This wasn't supposed to be possible."
"What wasn't?"
"The Origin was never meant to be challenged."
Kael clenched his fist.
"Then maybe it should have been."
The Origin suddenly spoke.
Its voice no longer sounded calm.
It sounded wounded.
"You were created to obey."
Kael answered,
"I was created."
"But I wasn't created to obey."
The Origin's cracks spread.
"You are my child."
Kael looked toward Eryx.
"So is he."
"Only one can inherit me."
Kael shook his head.
"Then you still don't understand."
Eryx stepped beside him.
"We don't want your inheritance."
Kael raised his hand.
"We want our freedom."
The three energies inside him erupted.
White.
Black.
Silver.
The Origin's entire realm began collapsing.
Stars appeared from the darkness.
Millions of them.
Then billions.
The creator screamed,
"Stop!"
Kael looked at him.
"Why?"
"If the Origin breaks completely..."
The creator's face went pale.
"...everything connected to it will disappear."
Kael froze.
"Everything?"
"The Firstborn."
"The Architects."
"The Devourers."
"Every universe touched by its power."
Kael looked at Eryx.
His brother understood immediately.
"If we break it..."
"We destroy everything."
Kael closed his eyes.
For a moment, he considered surrender.
Then Aetherion's voice echoed through his mind.
"There is always another path."
Kael opened his eyes.
"You said that before."
"And I was right."
Aetherion appeared beside him.
For the first time, he wasn't a voice inside Kael's mind.
He had manifested physically.
Kael stared.
"You can do that?"
Aetherion smiled.
"I've had a very long time to learn."
He placed his hand against Kael's shoulder.
"Don't destroy the Origin."
"Rewrite it."
Kael frowned.
"How?"
Aetherion pointed toward the three energies inside Kael.
"You're no longer merely its vessel."
"You've become something the Origin never predicted."
Kael looked at the silver energy.
"Transformation."
Aetherion nodded.
"Exactly."
Kael stepped toward the Origin.
The massive being watched him.
"What are you attempting?"
Kael answered,
"Something you couldn't."
He raised both hands.
"I'm not going to destroy creation."
"I'm going to change the rules."
The silver energy spread across the Origin.
The cracks stopped growing.
The collapsing realm stabilized.
The stars stopped dying.
The darkness retreated.
Then—
A pulse traveled through every universe.
Every living being felt it.
The laws of existence changed.
Energy no longer belonged to the Origin alone.
The power of creation spread outward.
The power of destruction became part of the same cycle.
And transformation connected them.
The Origin's enormous form slowly changed.
Its crown of stars became smaller.
Its terrifying presence faded.
Until finally...
A human figure stood before Kael.
A woman with silver eyes.
She looked at Kael and Eryx.
For the first time...
She smiled.
"You have surpassed me."
Kael stared.
"Who are you?"
She answered softly.
"Your mother."
Kael's heart stopped.
Eryx's eyes widened.
The creator lowered his head.
"Impossible..."
The woman looked toward him.
"You failed to understand the children."
Then she turned back toward Kael.
"There is one final truth you must know."
Kael stepped closer.
"What truth?"
Her silver eyes darkened.
"The universe you know..."
"...is not the first."
She pointed beyond the stars.
"There was another."
"And you were born there."
Kael froze.
Eryx looked at him.
"Another universe?"
The woman nodded.
"Your first universe."
"Your true home."
"And it still exists."
Kael's breath caught.
"Where?"
The woman pointed toward a distant crack in reality.
"Beyond the Final Boundary."
A doorway appeared.
Kael stared into it.
For the first time, he saw something that felt strangely familiar.
A world beneath a red sky.
A dying star above it.
And two children standing together.
Kael and Eryx.
The woman smiled.
"You've spent your entire life trying to discover who you are."
"Now..."
"...go discover where you came from."
The doorway opened.
Kael looked at his brother.
Eryx smiled.
"Together?"
Kael nodded.
"Always."
The brothers stepped toward the unknown.
Behind them, the universe continued to change.
Ahead of them...
Their true beginning waited.
