Chapter 49 - The Hearing

The morning of Mark Harper's account freeze hearing dawned gray and heavy over Atlanta. Rain fell in a steady, unrelenting sheet, turning the streets into mirrors and the city skyline into a blurred watercolor of steel and glass. David stood on the condo balcony with a cup of black coffee, watching the water streak down the windows. The empire had grown to $4.79M in controlled assets, $2.41M projected annual cash flow, and a Beta Tax yield that had hit $821,400 in the last 14 days. But today was not about growth. Today was about protection.

The group chat had been active since 5 a.m.

Elena đŸ”„ (5:12 a.m.): I'm at the courthouse early. Mark is already here with his lawyer. He looks angry. Dummy receipts are layered perfectly through the trust. Alibis for every late night with you are documented. I'm ready.

Victoria (5:47 a.m.): Caleb's pitch is today. He's demanding I bring the "advisor's perspective." I'm planting your name deeper. PI report named you directly. He's rattled.
