"They're just tools," Faelyn said quickly, relief flooding through her. "For cooking. For the feast. They won't hurt anyone if used correctly."
"If used correctly," Mira repeated, her fingers gentle but thorough as she examined the bandages. "So there IS a wrong way to use them?"
"Well... yes. Like any tool. But I'll be teaching people how to use them properly."
Mira nodded, satisfied.
"And the book? The one with changing text that Darius saw?"
Faelyn hesitated. "Recipe guide. It adapts ingredients based on what's available here." Another pause. "In this... region."
Mira's lips twitched slightly. Almost a smile.
The white streak in her gray hair caught the light as she leaned closer to check a particularly deep wound.
"Your homeland must have very different ingredients."
"Very different."
"But you can make them work here. With what we have."
"Yes."
