Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 - Ritual

Elias kept walking normally, acting as if he were not aware of being watched. He himself had stalked quite a few people when he was a boy. Thus he recalled fragments of memories about stalking as he made his way to the Haoki residence.

Soon he saw a huge manor with metallic yellow walls. Its colour reminded him of golden clothes their tribe would wear in marriages. The manor seemed to have five floors, with each smaller than the one below it. The roof was tilted as a tall spire rose from its centre,

It would be so cool if I owned this place; I want something like that. That will come from strength I guess.

Elias entered the manor as a man wearing long and flowing clothes approached him.

"Greetings! How many days would you like to stay here as a guest?"

Elias sighed as he opened his bag and pulled out the paper the duke gave him.

The man nodded and showed him the way to a spacious room.

Elias entered the room and froze for a moment.

Silence

Elias was completely baffled by the room in front of him. It had a small but soft uprising from the floor and multiple wooden desks or things like that. The material was fine and tastefully carved; he did not even know most of the names of things in his room.

A bare man was sprawled on a soft floor rising above everything else. His lustrous tan skin was hidden by a simple cloth on top of him, only leaving his dark purple hair outside.

Elias meanwhile, was in a dream. He had figured it out almost immediately because he was wearing clothing made of leaves and animal skins.

He was standing in a dark void, or he was floating, per se. He did not feel anything — no wind, no light, no temperature, no gravity.

He was in nothing, staring at a pair of eyebrow less eyes in front of him. Two pupils as deep as the sky were looking at him as he stood there frozen.

The eyes were as big as he himself, giving out an indifferent aura.

Elias, however, felt something else.

Fear.

It was similar to running from a wild beast which likes to toy with its prey, just that he could not run.

He did not even have the authority to wake up.

All Elias felt was fear, pain and fear.

It even felt unnatural to him, as if it was created artificially.

He felt as if he was running from something, only to know that something was watching him, knowing that he was running and patiently waiting for him

Elias could not close his eyes but could do one thing — Access the memory locking.

He sighed internally and locked the memory of the eyes seeing him, forcefully forgetting about the eyes and shattering the dream.

After all, dreams need the base of memories to work; forcefully forgetting the memories of the dream would also lead to him forgetting things he imagined and saw before.

Elias stood on a platform carved from ivory white stone. The platform had engravings of golden rocks and metals forming a shape akin to a spider.

He was pondering how a duke would make him stronger and the authority of a respected duke.

I am so fucking exciting, I will be a Laity now!!!

How absurd it is that I would have been sold as a slave if not for him. That's why I want to become the strongest. To watch this absurd world from above, laugh at it like how the heavens laugh at us.

He started walking here and there on the platform, impatiently waiting for the duke; He desired strength and desired resources for strength. He had not even waited a day before coming to the Ha teaching centre.

Bright light shone beside him, quickly condensing into an old man wearing long, flowing robes.

"Are you sure that you are ready?"

Elias nodded furiously, his dark purple hair moving along with the up and down motion.

"Well then, the first step would be a ritual."

***

Flieday had finally found the path to her goal; the simple act of walking on the path to it made her so feel so satisfying

[Very well then, I shall inform you that… This is indeed a blessing for you.]
