Chapter 96 - Amanai Riko's School

Yamada felt his pocket, and sure enough, there was an extra wallet and several cards inside.

Just as he was preparing to find a place to have a hot meal and inquire about which school the Star Plasma Vessel named "Amanai Riko" was in, his keen hearing caught a movement coming from a dark alley on the street corner.

Bang!

A dull thud accompanied by the loud crash of a falling trash can echoed out.

Yamada turned around and stepped into the narrow alley without streetlights.

Deep in the alley, a man in a black uniform was sprawled wretchedly on the ground. He held a short knife in his hand, blood trickling from the corner of his lips, looking ahead with a face full of terror.

"How is this possible? Didn't the intelligence say there was only one Grade 2 Cursed Spirit here? Why is there a Semi-Grade 1 mutant?!"

In front of the man perched a spider-type Cursed Spirit the size of a small car, covered in sharp bone spikes. Its eight compound eyes emitted a scarlet, malevolent light, and the venom dripping from its mouthparts corroded the asphalt ground into pitted holes.

"Eat... eat the sorcerer..."

The spider Cursed Spirit let out a piercing roar and raised its forelimbs, preparing to impale the man on the ground.

The man closed his eyes in despair. However, the expected sharp pain did not come.

Instead, a sound of footsteps slowly approached from the alley entrance.

"Hey, big bug. You're blocking my way."

The man opened his eyes in astonishment. He saw a young man in a black trench coat who had, at some point, passed him and stood before that Semi-Grade 1 Cursed Spirit.

He held a gray cloth bag, not even glancing at the Cursed Spirit, his posture as casual as if he were taking a stroll in a park.

"Run! There's a terrifying monster ahead! An ordinary person will die if they encounter it!" The man shouted, enduring his injuries.

"Ordinary person?"

Yamada tilted his head slightly, a hint of mockery flashing in his dark pupils.

The spider Cursed Spirit was clearly enraged by Yamada's dismissive attitude and roared as it spat out a massive, venom-soaked web, descending from above.

Yamada stood his ground, not dodging. His right thumb gently pushed aside a corner of the gray cloth wrap, revealing the pitch-black hilt of the Kusanagi Sword.

Clang!

The blade unsheathed half an inch.

Violent lightning erupted without warning in the cramped, dark alley.

Lightning Release: Chidori Current!

The blinding lightning instantly tore that venomous web into shreds. Not only that, the high-voltage current spread through the air, locking onto the massive spider Cursed Spirit.

Crackle!

"Gaaaaah!"

The Semi-Grade 1 Cursed Spirit let out an extremely shrill scream.

Its bone spikes and massive body appeared far too weak before the Lightning Release Yamada casually unleashed. In just a few seconds, it turned into a pool of charred ash under the lightning's rampage.

Instant kill!

The sorcerer sprawled on the ground watched this scene in stunned silence, his brain shutting down.

No incantations, no seals, not even a noticeable fluctuation of Cursed Energy.

Just in the instant he drew his sword, he used that purple lightning to blast a Semi-Grade 1 Cursed Spirit into dust?

This is definitely a powerhouse at Grade 1 or above!

Yamada pressed the Kusanagi Sword back into its sheath and looked down at the man on the ground.

"You said just now that you are a Jujutsu Sorcerer?"

"Ye... yes! I am an Assistant Supervisor affiliated with the Jujutsu Headquarters."

"Very well. Let me ask you something."

Yamada put his hands in his pockets, his tone flat yet carrying an undeniable pressure.

"The Star Plasma Vessel, Amanai Riko. Which school is that girl attending now?"

The Assistant Supervisor was taken aback, a hint of vigilance flashing in his eyes. "Why do you ask? The Star Plasma Vessel's whereabouts are a high-level secret of the Jujutsu world..."

Before he could finish, Yamada suddenly raised his head. A pair of scarlet eyes lit up in the dim alley.

"I ask, you answer. No need for nonsense."

The Assistant Supervisor felt a loud explosion in his mind, his will instantly stripped away. His eyes lost focus, and he spoke dully like a puppet on a string, "Renchoku Girls' Junior High... Second Year."

"Renchoku Girls' Junior High..."

Yamada withdrew his gaze, the crimson hexagram in his eyes quietly fading away.

With a thud, the Assistant Supervisor, released from the genjutsu's control, collapsed limply onto the sewage-stained asphalt of the alley, falling into a deep coma.

When he wakes up, his memories of meeting Yamada tonight will be completely erased. He will only remember miraculously surviving after a bitter battle.

"Thanks for the directions, although your attitude was a bit poor."

Yamada stepped over the Assistant Supervisor's body and walked straight out of the dark alley.

The colorful neon lights came back into view, Shinjuku's nightlife was just beginning.

Yamada did not immediately set off to find that girls' school.

The Star Plasma Vessel incident had far-reaching implications. Not only had that group of fanatical cultists from the Star Religious Group put up a heavy bounty, but there was also Fushiguro Toji, known as the Sorcerer Killer, lurking in the shadows.

Of course, the most troublesome part was the two problem children about to take on the escort mission—Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru.

"Infinity, huh..."

Yamada sat down under the parasol of an upscale open-air cafe and ordered a black coffee.

He knew very well that with his current strength from the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and Yang Release, even if Gojo Satoru activated Infinity, he had dozens of ways to pin that white-haired guy to the ground and beat him up.

But as a newcomer trying to make a living in this world, in order to harvest Dimension Points more smoothly and be more unbeatable when showing off, he needed an ultimate trump card capable of traveling through space anytime, anywhere, and ignoring physical attacks.

'System, query the exchange for Kamui.'

[Ding! Searching for target ability...]

[Kamui: A space-time ocular jutsu exclusive to the Mangekyo Sharingan.]

[Exchange requirement: 20,000 Dimension Points]

'Twenty thousand points? Buying the dual-eye Kamui, this deal is worth it.'

Yamada gently swirled the coffee cup in his hand, his calm face reflected in the liquid.

'Confirm exchange.'

[Deducting 20,000 Dimension Points, space-time ocular jutsu Kamui fusion beginning!]

As the mechanical voice faded, an extremely subtle spatial fluctuation flashed across the depths of Yamada's eyes.

This was a deep understanding of spatial laws. It was as if, in this instant, the world before him was no longer a simple three-dimensional structure, but filled with countless hidden nodes that could be traversed and folded at will.

Yamada put down the coffee cup and moved his mind slightly.

Click.

The moment his fingers left it, the coffee cup abruptly vanished.

And inside Yamada's Kamui dimension, the coffee cup was quietly floating in mid-air.

"Intangibility, teleportation."

A playful arc curled at the corner of Yamada's lips. "Gojo's Infinity creates an infinite distance for defense, while Kamui directly transfers the part taking the hit into another dimension. Interesting, let's see whose ability is more insidious."
