A few weeks had passed since Devara's return, and the royal palace had gradually settled into its familiar rhythm, although the king himself seemed to have discovered a new occupation that demanded far more of his time than any royal duty.
Rather than spending every waking hour in the throne room listening to ministers discuss matters of administration,
Devara had begun devoting a considerable portion of his day to his family, particularly his children, who appeared determined to make up for the years they had spent without him.
The royal garden had consequently become one of his favourite places in the palace, for it offered him something no throne or battlefield ever could: the opportunity to laugh freely with his children and watch their imaginations run wild.
