Chapter 76 - Truly Charming

Back in Jack's room, Jack was sitting at the desk

So how do I make this thing?

Light spells are literally converting mana to photons, basically converting one energy to another.

Luckily I did pay attention to physics back in school.

And while talking to T2 I did come up with an idea.

Jack took his mutated quill and wrote on the Paper.

First lets see how much a mana unit is…

On the paper he wrote 'M' while letting the quill absorb the required energy from his mana, it was not as draining as he expected it to be.

He didn't feel anything at all.

Ok lets try one hundred.

He wrote '100M', the quill took his mana, it didn't drain too much, it felt like the energy one would use to lift something.

Ok let's see if I can use other systems..

He wrote '100 Joules'.

Hmm.. It feels the same..

No now that I think about it 100M was slightly more exhausting.

But I guess its safe to assume a Mana Unit is equivalent to one Joule.

The paper already has 200 M stored, so I can already begin..

I should keep it simple.

'Convert'

No, scratch that.

Jack began to write above the convert.

'Activate only when the word 'Light' is heard'

I'm not making the same mistake as before..

He continued writing.

'Convert 10M→Photon'

Now for what frequency of photon..

This is scary, I don't want to make a radiation explosion, 555 is the center of visible light, I think its safe for me to use it.

Now the whole charm itself had those statements.

'100M, 100Joules'

This meant that the charm contained ~200 units of M or ~200 units of Joules

'Activate only when the word 'Light' is heard'

This meant that the charm wont activate upon the finished writing of the spell.

'Convert 10M→Photon 555nm'

This meant that Ten Units of Mana would be converted into visible light.

Will this work? Maybe I should have used T2's way? Say the limit of the human eye?

Jack exhaled.

The spell itself is too simple to optimize, simply converting energy shouldn't have too much resistance..

Maybe there is something else I need to add? Its just too simple..

Jack rubbed his eyes with his hand and finally decided to begin the experiment.

He picked up the sheet of paper and held it up and closed his eyes just in case.

This is a lot more tense than the last time..

-Light.

At that moment from the outside of the room's windows a bright flash of light could be seen, it was akin to a flash-bang both in brightness and in how quick it stopped.

-Fuck… Who turned on the sun..

Damn it I'm blind!

He wasn't really blind but he couldn't see anything due to the white out, his eyes literally got blinded by the afterimage.

Not only that Jack was stunned for a good few seconds before he regained his balance.

How did it even blind me? I had my eyes closed!

Don't tell me its was so bright It went through my eyelids?

-Damn it..

After a while of rest Jack finally recovered from his stunned state.

Such a simple spell, and its not even expensive to cast, yet It can have such an effect on a person..

I'll just begin writing the journal, I don't even know if this was a success or a failure.

Jack began writing his journal entry for the day.

'I have managed to make another charm while using what I learned so far.'

'I did made some advancements in casting spells, or rather charm crafting?'

'First of all, my name was optional, as long as you get a feel for it just desiring the effect can move personal energy to the spell.'

'Second, giving energy doesn't need to be the last part, as long as there is a condition for the spell you can assign the mana in the beginning.'

'The logic behind the spell doesn't need to be exactly like how programmers would have done it either.'

'Also a unit of mana is roughly the equivalent of a Joule, and with the previous charm, I can make a rough guess of how much energy someone that has the lowest compression rate has.'

'Back then I felt like 20% percent of my mana was drained, back then I had yet to refresh my physics memories using the wasteland so I ignored it.'

'But now I can make a rough guess to how much mana I may have in Joules, The spell itself may have had around 1500-1900 Joules or Mana Units worth of energy, so I should have 8 Thousand Joules worth of energy.'

'Which may have increased, since mana capacity could be trained unlike compression rate.'

'There is another thing, if I make a spell with my quill I can mitigate the energy loss due to heat that I observed back when I infused a symbol with my mana.'

'So I can confirm that there is some form of energy loss in normal casting compared to my making of Charms with the Mutated Quill.'

'Unlike the previous fire charm that I made I used a relatively simple spell that just converted mana into photons, or simply said light.'

'The previous one was dangerous that is not a question, but this one was dangerous in a different way.'

'For such a small amount of energy I was able to make myself completely helpless for a few seconds.'

'Alone it might be useful to make a quick escape, but say I combine it with another offensive spell?'

'This aroused a question, I get that people may not have access to resources to learn about magic, but why is it that people just ignore something like this?'

'My answer to that question was simple, the people here don't have Einstein, Maxwell or Newton.'

'People before those people saw light in a more philosophical manner, thus there were multiple interpretations that was until newton challenged them.'

'Of course I may be wrong, I wasn't entirely focused on studying anyway.'

'It's also the matter of formula and physics monopolization by specific mages, I have this knowledge from T2 and Victor, but their family existed since the fall of the Empire.'

'Meaning that they may have modern knowledge from the Suspected Transmigrator Rover.'

'Don't even get me started on Rover, the name of the continent is named after a PUN! A power rangers PUN! His name is Rover, and he was apparently the adopted son of a Red Cloaked Ranger.'

'I didn't even need to thing too much to realize his backstory and name was another PUN! Range Rover! Un-F-ing believable.'

'That man feels like a joke, forget about his deeds, I cant seriously read the founding myth with that man as the main character.'

'I'm done writing.'
