Chapter 72: The Alliance of Chaos — Breaking the Gears

The clinical blue light of Law's [ROOM] didn't fade; instead, it began to clash violently with a chaotic, rubbery-red glow. The screen hummed with a rhythm that sounded like a heartbeat, but much louder—the resonance of two "D." souls colliding.

The Strategic Gamble

The screen flickered back to the snowy, desolate landscape of Punk Hazard. The world watched the exact moment the "Surgeon" made his move.

"Mugiwara-ya," Law's future self said, leaning against Kikoku. "There is only one way to survive in the New World. You either hide under the umbrella of a Yonko... or you challenge them. Join me. Our goal... is Kaido."

The world watched Luffy's future self pick his nose and ask, "Is he a nice guy?"

"No," Law replied, deadpan.

"Then I'm in!"

The chat window ignited. Now that the world knew Law and Luffy were currently on a floating island fighting two Emperors at once, the "start" of this alliance looked less like a plan and more like a mental breakdown.

[Eustass Kid]: "I'm looking at the screen, then I'm looking at Law across the clearing here in Sabaody, and I'm wondering... Trafalgar, are you high? Look at that idiot! He didn't even ask for a map! You dragged us all into a war because a guy who eats snow said 'I'm in'?"

[Kaido]: "WORORORO! To think it started with a conversation in the snow. You little gnats actually thought you could crawl up to my throne? I don't care if you're 'D.' or if you have the 'Ultimate Fruit'—I'm going to enjoy turning that alliance into a shared grave!"

[Big Mom]: "MAMAMAMA! The 'Surgeon' thinks he's a mastermind! Kaido, why are they still breathing on that roof? We should have turned the Doctor into a soul-snack and the Rubber Boy into a floor mat hours ago!"

[Whitebeard (Prime)]: "Gurarara... It takes a special kind of madness to lead a man like Luffy, Trafalgar. You didn't form an alliance; you signed up for a permanent headache. But look at the screen... you two are actually holding your own against the monsters."

The screen shifted to Law's darkest moment in Dressrosa. The world watched as he lay on the ground, his arm severed, looking up at Doflamingo's boot.

"Thirteen years," Law's voice hissed on screen, blood leaking from his mouth. "Everything I did... the hearts... the Shichibukai title... it was all to lead you to this moment. To stop the gears of the world."

The world watched Luffy swoop in to deflect Doflamingo's final blow.

[Doflamingo]: "Fuffuffuffu! Law, you pathetic child! You threw away your life for a dead man's grudge! And for what? To rely on a rubber brat who can't even see three steps ahead?"

[Trafalgar Law]: (Current Law in Sabaody, gripped by the screen) "Because that 'rubber brat' does the things a doctor can't. He breaks the things that won't bend. Watch, Joker. My rank isn't just about my fruit... it's about the man I chose to stand beside. And don't you see when Zoro and Sanji ranked? What system said? They are the Wings of Future Pirate King. That's mean the guy I choose is Future Pirate King."

As the screen showed Law and Luffy sharing a piece of meat after the battle, the chat lost its mind.

[Monkey D. Garp]: "BWAHAHA! Law, I'll pray for your soul! Partnering with my grandson is a fate worse than Impel Down! You'll be Rank 43, but you'll have the gray hair of an eighty-year-old by the time he's King!"

[Buggy (Floating Duck)]: "SQUEAK! (Translation: THE DOCTOR IS INSANE! HE TRADED HIS SANITY FOR A RANKING! I'D RATHER STAY A DUCK THAN DEAL WITH LUFFY!)"

[Killer]: "Kid, look at Law's face on the screen. He looks like he's regretting every life choice he's ever made. That's the real 'Price of Growth.'"

The blue light intensified, turning into an ethereal, shimmering glow. The screen showed Law on the Onigashima rooftop, his sword glowing with a massive, transparent sphere. [K-ROOM: ANAESTHESIA].

"I'm not doing this for Corazon anymore," Law's future self whispered, staring down the massive silhouette of Big Mom. "I'm doing this to prove that the New Era doesn't need 'Gods'."

📝 Author's Note:

Chapter 72 completes Law's journey by highlighting the irony of his rank—he is a genius who allied with a "moron" to achieve the impossible. The roasting from Garp, Kid, keeps the energy high, while the focus on the "Price of Growth" justifies why a "rookie" doctor is ranked alongside the future Hero of the Marines. The world is now terrified of Law's tactical mind and Luffy's unpredictability.
