"That's right! Therefore, regarding this matter, Palace Master Lin Xiao, it is really not that my Ye Clan is unwilling to help, it is truly..."
Ye Zhong lowered his head at this moment, his face flushing slightly.
Thinking back to the words he had just spoken, he felt as if his own face had been slapped swollen.
"Elder Lin, my father and I really want to help you, but this matter is truly too significant for our Ye Clan!" Not only Ye Zhong, but even Ye Yun felt somewhat ashamed and without a hiding place at this moment.
Looking at the ashamed expressions of the father and son, it was instead Xiao Lin who felt a bit embarrassed.
After all, on this matter, it was indeed his mistake. Without fully understanding what kind of price the Ye Clan would have to pay, he had rashly come to their door to make this request; standing from a fair perspective, it was indeed a bit excessive.
"Grand Elder, Ye Yun, you don't have to be like this, it was I who came to your door after only gathering half the information, the one who should apologize is me, your Ye Clan has done nothing wrong to me!"
Xiao Lin was not an unreasonable person, so facing this situation, he decisively chose to apologize.
At the same time, Xiao Lin only wanted to go back right now and smash that guy Ji Li's dog head!
Gathering only half the information had made him so embarrassed right now. Changing perspective, if Xiao Lin were a member of the Five Great Clans of the Pill Tower, he wouldn't agree to this request either!
Why were the Five Great Clans of the Pill Tower so special?
The most important thing was that each of their clans possessed a fixed Elder seat of the Pill Tower.
This allowed the status of the Five Great Clans of the Pill Tower within the Pill Tower to far exceed that of most alchemists. If they lost this fixed Elder seat, then they would have no difference from ordinary alchemists anymore!
You tell me, facing this kind of situation, how could the Five Great Clans of the Pill Tower possibly use the fixed Elder seat to trade with others?
"Sigh, Elder Lin, actually you don't know, our Ye Clan is also currently having a headache over this fixed elder seat, you also know this is something our Ye Clan is unwilling to lose."
"However, our Ye Clan has already failed two consecutive times in the Pill Gathering evaluations. If our Ye Clan fails again in the next Pill Gathering 20 years later, this fixed Elder seat will not be able to be kept."
Regarding his life-saving benefactor, Ye Yun certainly wouldn't blame him.
It was just that he also suddenly brought up such a topic that made Xiao Lin feel a bit surprised.
Suddenly, Xiao Lin's mind stirred.
Regarding this matter of the Ye Clan, he seemed to have some impression of it. In the original story, it seemed to have described this matter as well. The next Pill Gathering 20 years later should be the one his grandson Xiao Yan participated in.
If he remembered correctly, in the original story Xiao Yan took the identity of the Ye Clan's son-in-law to participate in the Pill Gathering on behalf of the Ye Clan. Finally won the Pill Gathering championship, thereby obtaining the opportunity to subdue the Three Thousand Burning Flame.
In other words, after the last Pill Gathering ended, the Ye Clan's fixed Elder seat in the Pill Tower was already in imminent danger.
In this way, Xiao Lin's trade with the Ye Clan this time was not completely without a chance. Of course, if the Ye Clan knew the plot 20 years later, they certainly wouldn't trade with Xiao Lin either.
But the problem was, at this moment they didn't know!
Because of this matter, the entire Ye Clan was obviously in a state of frantic distress. Under this kind of situation, he might as well give it a try. Even, as long as luck was good, he could still pull a huge assistant force for the Myriad Formation Spirit Palace...
Thinking of something, Xiao Lin calmly pulled back the disappointment on his face.
"Grand Elder, if I may ask, has your Ye Clan ever considered the possibility of failing again in the Pill Gathering 20 years later, and how your Ye Clan should carry itself in the Pill Tower at that time?"
Having an idea, Xiao Lin even spoke with more confidence.
This wave, he could make a move!
Hearing Xiao Lin ask this, Ye Zhong could not help but wear a bitter smile.
"I won't hide it from Palace Master Lin Xiao, regarding this matter, the upper and lower echelons of my Ye Clan have already discussed it many times, but we still haven't come up with a good way out."
"Furthermore, and I'm not afraid of making Palace Master laugh at us, the next generation of my Ye Clan has talent on the path of an alchemist that is far from being able to compare with the next generation of the other four clans."
"If this continues, the next Pill Gathering evaluation will probably be the time when my Ye Clan is removed from its name in the Pill Tower!"
Regarding this kind of situation of the clan, the people within the upper and lower echelons of the Ye Clan had worried so much that their hair had almost turned white!
Losing the fixed elder seat of the Pill Tower, being removed from the Five Great Clans, and becoming just like ordinary alchemists was definitely not something the Ye Clan was willing to see.
One had to know that the Pill Tower was actually a very loose alliance. Regarding ordinary alchemists who joined the Pill Tower, the management of the Pill Tower didn't actually pay too much attention to them.
Over these years, the Hall of Souls frequently laid black hands on those ordinary alchemists in the dark; could it be that the higher-echelons of the Pill Tower didn't know?
They naturally knew!
However, the Pill Tower had no reaction to it at all!
Even back then, Hun Huzi of the Hun Clan had mingled into the Pill Tower and was taken as a disciple by the previous Grand Elder of the Small Pill Tower.
However, after Hun Huzi's identity was exposed, the previous Grand Elder of the Small Pill Tower, out of master-disciple affection, let Hun Huzi go.
But what was the result? Hun Huzi turned around and united with the strong experts of the Hun Clan to ambush and kill the previous Grand Elder of the Small Pill Tower!
Facing this kind of situation, the Pill Tower endured it.
You tell me, how much protection could an ordinary alchemist obtain in the Pill Tower?
Under the situation where the Ye Clan had a fixed elder seat in the Pill Tower, it could still bring some protection to the Ye Clan. But once they lost it, it was not guaranteed that the Hall of Souls wouldn't set their eyes on the Ye Clan as a target.
In other words, in the eyes of the Ye Clan, they could at most obtain another 20 years of protection from the Pill Tower. Facing this kind of situation, you tell me, could the upper and lower echelons of the Ye Clan not be anxious?
"Sure enough!"
Hearing Ye Zhong speak of the current situation of the Ye Clan, Xiao Lin muttered to himself in his heart.
This situation was unfavorable to the Ye Clan, but in Xiao Lin's view, it was simply too favorable for him!
Therefore, after Xiao Lin settled his mind, he opened his mouth and said: "Grand Elder, then have you ever considered seeking a path of retreat for the Ye Clan in advance?"
Xiao Lin's tone carried a hint of testing.
"Hm? Palace Master Lin Xiao, your meaning is?"
He seemed to understand, but also seemed not to understand.
"Grand Elder, if you feel that the probability of failing the next Pill Gathering evaluation is very large, rather than passively losing the fixed Elder seat of the Pill Tower when the time comes, it is better to make a choice early on."
"Your Ye Clan can choose to enter my Myriad Formation Spirit Palace, and have my sect provide protection for your Ye Clan! My Myriad Formation Spirit Palace has plenty of Formation Masters who can arrange various formations to improve the pill-refining efficiency for your Ye Clan."
"It can be said that we complement each other. And what my Myriad Formation Spirit Palace lacks the most right now is precisely alchemists! Grand Elder, why don't you consider this suggestion of mine?"
After Xiao Lin finished speaking this whole paragraph, his gaze stared intently at Ye Zhong.
As for the father and son pair of Ye Zhong and Ye Yun, after listening to Xiao Lin's words, they revealed dumbfounded expressions. To be honest, before Xiao Lin brought it up, they had never considered the question of changing their allegiance.
After all, their Ye Clan had already stood established in the Pill Tower for several hundred years!
How could they just change their allegiance the moment someone said to change their allegiance?
