Chapter 99 - Chapter 98: A Message to the Government

The room was tense long after Axel's aunt left.

Silence pressed down on everyone like a weight.

Axel paced. "So now the police know about us… great."

Leo kept staring at his screen. "It's worse than that. If she's Rank 3, she's already reported this."

Kai stood by the window, calm… too calm.

Then he spoke.

"…We stop running."

Axel looked up. "What?"

Kai turned slowly.

"We go to them."

Leo froze. "The government?"

Kai nodded.

"If Dragon is working with them… we force them to prove it."

Axel blinked. "And how exactly do we do that?"

Kai's eyes sharpened.

"We give them a choice."

Later that night

A government broadcast center.

Heavily guarded. Bright lights. Armed units everywhere.

A message was sent.

Short. Direct. Untraceable.

"If you know Dragon is inside your system… come to the designated location."

"If not… everything collapses."

— Kai

Inside the control room—

Officers stared at the message.

"…Is this a threat?" one asked.

Another officer frowned. "It's an ultimatum."

The alarm systems beeped.

"Unknown sender confirmed: priority target Kai."

Chaos started building immediately.

Outside the meeting point

Axel stood nervously. "Bro… this is either genius or the worst idea ever."

Leo checked surroundings. "Both are possible."

Kai didn't react.

He just stood there, hands in his pockets, staring at the building.

Cold. Focused. Controlled.

"…They'll come," he said.

Axel looked at him. "And if they don't?"

Kai's expression didn't change.

"Then we burn the system down until they do."

Inside the government HQ

Officials gathered quickly.

Security tightened. Doors locked.

A senior officer spoke.

"…We have a situation."

Another replied, "Kai is no longer hiding. He's making demands."

A third voice:

"And if he's right about Dragon?"

Silence.

Because nobody wanted to answer that.

Back at the meeting point

The night grew heavier.

Sirens far in the distance.

Helicopters above.

Axel whispered, "They're coming…"

Leo nodded. "Or they're setting a trap."

Kai finally looked up.

"…Good."

Axel frowned. "Good??"

Kai stepped forward.

"Then we end it here."

The wind picked up slightly.

The atmosphere changed.

Something was about to begin.
