A messenger student intercepted us halfway across the academy grounds, still sweaty and exhausted from the maze trial. The kid looked nervous as he delivered the message, which was never a good sign.
"Team Four?" he asked, glancing at a piece of parchment in his hand. "Amara, Roran, Kiela, and Nomari?"
"That's us," Roran said, exchanging worried glances with the rest of us. "What's this about?"
"Headmaster Aldric requests your immediate presence in his office," the messenger said, and his voice cracked a little on the word 'immediate.' "All four of you. Right now."
My stomach dropped straight through the ground and kept falling.
"Did he say why?" Kiela asked, but I already knew the answer before the messenger shook his head.
"Just that it's urgent and you're not to delay."
