Chapter 51 - Terms OF Movement

No one stepped away.

But the space between them—

Changed.

Not hostile.

Defined.

The girl shifted slightly to the side.

Not retreating.

Making space.

Arjun noticed.

Aarav didn't.

"…Say it," Aarav said, stepping forward again.

The tall one moved with him.

Not blocking—

Matching.

Their distance—

Locked.

Kabir's hand hovered near activation—

Then lowered.

No signal.

No threat

Just readiness.

The quiet one adjusted his stance.

Minimal.

But enough to break alignment.

"…We're wasting time," he said.

Arjun stepped forward.

Slow.

Controlled.

Every movement measured.

"…Then stop wasting it."

Silence.

The boy exhaled lightly.

"…Direct. I like that."

He shifted position—

Closer to center.

Not leading.

But influencing.

The girl glanced at him—

Then back at Arjun.

"…Zone 19-C," she said.

Kabir's eyes narrowed.

"…You stabilized it?"

She nodded once.

"…Before yours collapsed."

Aarav's jaw tightened slightly.

"…We didn't collapse."

"…You almost did," the tall one replied.

Silence.

Anaya stepped forward—

Just enough to close the gap.

Her presence—

Sharper now.

"…And you think you wouldn't?"

The girl didn't answer immediately.

Instead—

She took one step closer.

Now they stood within reach.

"…We didn't test it like you did."

A pause.

"…We prepared."

Kabir shifted slightly.

Thinking.

"…So you knew what was coming."

"…We knew enough," the quiet one said.

Arjun's gaze didn't move.

"…Not enough."

Silence.

That landed.

The wind passed between them—

Soft.

But directional.

Still pulling.

Still connecting.

Kabir glanced at it—

Then at his wrist.

A faint flicker.

Not system.

Something else.

"…You seeing this?" he muttered.

A thin band formed—

Around his wrist.

Not material.

Integrated.

Minimal.

A pulse of light—

Then data.

[Performance Tracker: Active]

Kabir froze for half a second.

"…That's new."

Aarav glanced down.

Same band.

Same flicker.

"…Did you trigger this?" he asked.

Kabir shook his head.

"…No."

Anaya checked hers—

Already active.

Arjun didn't look at his.

He already knew.

"…Post-zone response," he said.

The girl watched them.

Carefully.

Then—

She raised her wrist.

Same band.

Already active.

"…You just got yours," she said.

"…We've had it."

Silence.

Aarav frowned.

"…And you didn't mention that?"

"…You didn't ask."

The boy smirked.

"…Also—"

He shifted slightly.

"…You weren't ready for it."

Kabir's eyes moved across the interface.

Data—

Minimal.

Clear.

[Reaction Delay: +0.2s]

[Movement Efficiency: 81%]

His expression tightened.

"…This is real-time."

Arjun nodded once.

"…Use it."

A pause.

"…Or it uses you."

Silence.

The quiet one stepped forward again.

Now—

Closer than before.

"…Zones are linking," he said.

"…Movement will increase."

Aarav crossed his arms slightly.

"…We've noticed."

"…Not enough," the quiet one replied.

A pause.

"…Single squads won't hold."

The words stayed.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

Anaya glanced at Arjun.

Not asking.

Waiting.

The girl spoke again.

"…We don't need trust."

A step forward.

"…We need alignment."

Kabir exhaled slowly.

"…Temporary."

"…Conditional," the boy added.

Silence.

Arjun looked at each of them.

Measured.

Then—

"…Fine."

A breath.

"…We move together."

Aarav didn't react.

But didn't object.

Anaya stepped back slightly—

Not retreat.

Acceptance.

Kabir closed the interface.

"…Shared information only."

"…No interference," the girl added.

"…No hesitation," the tall one said.

The quiet one didn't speak.

He didn't need to.

The wind shifted again.

But this time—

It moved around them.

Not separating.

Not testing.

Flowing.

Together.

Two squads—

Now moving in the same direction.

Not allies.

Not yet.

But no longer separate.
