Loreen's POV
Sairis pressed his lips together very firmly and looked straight ahead at the altar with the focused look of someone determined not to laugh in the high temple at a funeral.
The king leaned back in his seat with the calm, unbothered look of a man who had made his point and was satisfied with the result. "Better," he said simply.
Loreen looked at Sairis.
Sairis was still looking at the altar. His shoulders were doing something very slight and very controlled that Loreen recognised as suppressed laughter being held in through sheer force of will.
"Not a word," Loreen said quietly.
"I did not say anything," Sairis replied. His voice was perfectly calm.
Loreen rolled his eyes. "You were thinking it."
"I am always thinking something," Sairis said. "That is not new."
Loreen released a sigh and looked straight ahead at the altar.
