Loreen's POV
Lord Huron placed both hands flat on the table. "I want to be very clear about something," he said.
His voice was calm but the edge underneath it was sharp. "Accusations of this nature, accusations levelled against a sitting queen, do not come without consequence. If this is wrong, if this constable is standing here with incomplete evidence or a rushed conclusion, it could cost someone their head. It could cost him his head."
Huron looked at the chief constable directly. "Do you understand the weight of what you are saying?"
The chief constable did not flinch. "My lord," he said, "I have already discussed this matter at length with his majesty the king. The evidence has been presented and reviewed. I would not be standing in this chamber if it had not been."
