Sairis's POV
Sairis smiled to himself. He knew how carts worked. Merchants making long journeys used large carts that could carry fifty sacks or more without trouble.
But within the capital, where the streets were narrower and the distances short, smaller carts were standard. Those held around twenty five sacks at most. It was basic knowledge to anyone who had spent time around trade and markets.
"Each cart carries how many sacks?" he asked. "For a short distance journey within the capital."
She looked up. "Twenty four to twenty five sacks," she said. "If you layer them by eight."
"So four carts," Sairis said, "would carry at most one hundred sacks."
She nodded. "Yes. That is what would be required."
Sairis kept his smile where it was. She had genuinely not seen where the conversation was going until this moment, and he watched the realisation arrive on her face as clearly as a candle being lit in a dark room.
