Sairis's POV
His fingers tightened slightly on his fork. This was it. Sairis thought. It was the perfect opportunity to catch the king's attention, and he did not think twice.
Sairis's voice cut in just as the servant began pouring wine into the king's cup.
"Left," he said, picking up his own cutlery.
The servant froze.
A few officials paused mid bite. Even Loreen who had food in his mouth stopped.
Sairis did not look up immediately, though he knew all eyes were on him now. That was exactly what he wanted.
He kept his focus on his plate, slicing a piece of meat slowly, as if nothing had happened. As if he had not just interrupted a royal servant in front of the king.
He brought the meat to his mouth and chewed calmly.
Only then did Loreen speak. "Is there a problem, Lady Candice?" he asked, voice careful but curious.
Sairis shook his head and swallowed slowly. He reached for his cup, took a sip of water, then finally spoke.
Still calm.
