Is the problem for farming perhaps impossible for the people of this place to figure out?
Or even if they could understand it, how could anyone go against the wonders of nature and make a difference by their own will?
But in Caeson's case, it was different.
He was summoned from a world where people used water purifiers.
Still, it was not an easy game for him either. To perform experiments, one needed at least an average functioning mind—someone with common sense and a bit of critical thinking.
And Caeson was not exactly famous for that.
Still sitting on the bed beside Harry, Caeson closed his eyes and smirked.
Through the transmission cloud in the mind palace he said,
"Hey Hawker, I can hear all that stuff. Why don't you try making a water purifier?"
Hawker was shocked.
"Now you're eavesdropping on me?"
Caeson replied calmly,
"It's your mind palace, but you share it with me. And you already know that since coming here, I can hear through you… and you can see and hear through me."
Harry, meanwhile, was feeling uncomfortable.
Caeson's expression looked suspiciously evil, as if he was plotting something dangerous.
It was not exactly the expression of a saint.
Hawker sighed.
"Ahh… well, I was thinking too much back and forth. So what do you want me to do? I mean, it would be good if we could help them."
Caeson maintained the same closed-eye thinking expression and replied,
"Why don't you research what objects are needed for a purifier? If you find them in your tummy, good. If there are things you don't have, I'll try to make them."
Hawker sounded doubtful.
"You would make them on your own? That's questionable… but there are people you can ask for help."
"Like Reu."
"And that kid who looks terrified and is trying to escape from your horrific expression."
Harry slowly stood up from the bed, placing his feet on the ground carefully.
Caeson opened his eyes.
"Hey Harry, you woke up? Are you okay?"
Harry's eyes widened.
He immediately lay back down on the bed.
"Who woke up? I am in deep sleep."
Later, during dinner.
The kids ate early and soon went to their beds.
Caeson and Reu were sitting on the shining cemented slab outside the church.
Their legs stretched onto the cold grassy ground.
Caeson asked casually,
"So how did the preaching go? There seemed to be many people in the church."
Reu raised an eyebrow.
"Well… you were with me the whole time. How do you know that?"
A soft voice came from the side.
"The preaching went well. Hopefully God will bless everyone."
When they turned, they saw Sister Tama sitting beside Caeson.
Caeson's mind instantly exploded with joy at her presence.
For a moment he froze.
Then he suppressed his excitement and replied in a steady voice,
"Yes… that's good."
Reu smiled.
"Sister Tama, are the kids asleep? It must have been a hectic day for you as well."
Tama crossed her fingers gently and smiled.
"Yes. But most of the work is done by Bishop Elane. Still… if we can add any value to someone's life, that is our job."
Caeson smirked slightly.
"Adorable— I mean… admirable."
"There is something I want to tell both of you. Ah… I don't know where to start."
"But do you know why farming doesn't work here?"
"Because the land has unusable soil?"
Both Reu and Tama almost said together,
"Yes."
Caeson leaned forward and spoke in a deep voice.
"Listen carefully."
"The problem here is the water."
"Not the soil. Not the land."
Reu jerked his neck backward in disbelief.
"What are you saying?"
"Water is the problem? After calamity we've been drinking it for years!"
"Yes, there is dizziness sometimes after drinking it… but Senate scientists already confirmed it."
Caeson spoke seriously.
"Then answer me this. How does grass still grow here? And admit it… you both noticed something today."
Tama looked confused but slowly nodded.
Harry fainting earlier made her uneasy.
Reu frowned.
"Even if you are right… how can anyone cure nature itself?"
Caeson's eyes shined.
"I have a plan, but for now… this stays only within our circle."
His eyes pleaded silently.
Both of them agreed.
Caeson continued.
"We can build a device. A device that purifies water."
Reu blinked in disbelief.
"Really?"
"Something like that exists?"
But another thought he somehow convinced.
"I can't believe it… but after what you did in class today, I can take a chance."
Tama still looked completely clueless.
Suddenly Reu remembered something.
"Oh! Sister Tama, I forgot to give you those two canned food boxes I stored in the locker."
Caeson waved casually.
"Ah, that food doesn't spoil for weeks. You just need to warm it."
Inside the mind palace, Hawker was already researching the items needed.
He checked what he already had stored and what was still required.
While concentrating deeply, he glanced through Caeson's eyes.
Once again Caeson had drifted away from the real topic.
Hawker glared at him.
Caeson quickly returned to the discussion.
"Well… I need some water where I can test the process."
"It would be better if the water source is large and surrounding is safe."
Tama replied,
"Lake Luna, It's a good place. Not many people go there."
Reu added,
"Yes, and it has a wide space. But when would we even go there? There are kids to take care of."
"And now more people are coming to the church than before."
"Even if we purify the water… is it possible to grow crops in such a short time?"
Caeson shook his head.
"Now, I will go alone and for the rest… we need to get food from the Royal Senate."
Reu and Tama were shocked.
It felt as if the ground disappeared beneath their feet.
Caeson continued calmly.
"As you said before… the Senate always keeps stock for civilians."
Reu shouted,
"That was before! Now how could they possibly have that much food?"
But this was not new to Caeson.
He had seen enough politics in the world he came from.
There were always backup plans for the powerful.
He said calmly,
"In the place I come from, this is normal."
"I know they have reserves."
"Because they don't look desperate. All four kingdoms have started wars. It's not because they want to find out who destroyed the forest. It's for survival."
Reu looked horrified.
"Then this is rebellion. We would be betraying our country."
Caeson replied calmly,
"Only for now. After we purify the water… we will solve everything. Now we go to the Royal Senate."
Tama and Reu were furious.
Inside the mind palace, Hawker was equally shocked.
How was Caeson planning to pull this off?
This was far beyond his capabilities.
