She rolled her eyes again, shaking her head with a small grin. "Ah, so he's one of those types. The silent, impossible ones who make you chase them just to get a word out of them. I've seen this before."
I frowned slightly, leaning back against the counter. "It's not like I'm chasing him. I wouldn't even… approach him unless I had to." My voice softened. "But sometimes, just seeing him… it's enough to make me… happy, I guess. And frustrated, all at once."
I leaned against the counter, stirring the last bits of sauce in the pan, the aroma of garlic and herbs filling the small kitchen.
