"I have to admit, if they spent half as much time cleaning the stale blood off these floors as they did hanging cheap red silk from the ceiling, this place might actually pass for a decent high-end brothel," Gu Fan muttered softly under his breath, his arrogant, deeply mocking voice masked by the jingling of the heavy spiritual-sealing chains binding his wrists.
The chained group was marched down a massive, seemingly endless spiraling stone staircase illuminated by glowing purple runes, delving deep into the core of the canyon floor. As they descended, the dry, sweltering badland heat was replaced by a cloying, artificially warmed atmosphere thick with sweet, intoxicating aphrodisiac incense deliberately burning to mask the underlying metallic stench of death and stale sweat.
They were shoved through a massive archway, emerging directly into the Grand Hall of the Nether Orchid Sect's Inner Sanctum, and the sheer visual excess immediately assaulted their senses.
