After the mutated Golden Mountain disciple finished with the last of his former brothers and slowly turned its head toward Gu Fan and Song Yan, its hollow purple eyes locked onto them.
"Heheheh!" A wide, unnatural grin stretched across its face, splitting the rotting skin at the corners of its mouth. Thick black blood dripped from its chin as it raised one clawed hand and pointed.
A guttural, layered command rolled out of its throat, and the pack of elite undead hounds immediately responded, snarling as they lowered their massive bodies and prepared to charge.
Gu Fan watched the scene with mild interest. Then he smiled.
He calmly released Song Yan's waist and took a single step back, giving her space.
"Why don't you protect me this time, Miss Yan?" he said lightly, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
Song Yan's eyes narrowed, but she did not refute his words. There was no use saying otherwise.
