Chapter 202: The 51st Floor Boss Labyrinth; Whispers of an Evil God?
....
After pelting Seito with a barrage of questions, the group finally quieted down. They exchanged brief farewells and dispersed to handle their own affairs. Seito, meanwhile, headed toward the 51st floor alone.
Nine hours later...
Amidst a landscape of desolate ruins, Seito sat perched upon a massive boulder, reviewing his current status panel.
[Nickname: Sei]
[Level: 81]
[HP: 1,050,000,000 / 1,050,000,000]
[Divine Power: 30,000]
[Divine Core: Pending Manifestation]
[Divine ATK: 215,000+ | Divine DEF: 215,000+ | Divine MAG: 215,000+ | Divine SPD: 96,000,000+]
[Talent: Space Mastery]
[Equipment: Space Dragon Blade (Artifact), Space Divine Raiment (Artifact), Space Dragon Ring (Artifact), Space Necklace (Artifact), Dimensional Cube]
Past Level 80, every level-up granted a massive boost: 50,000 to all four primary stats, 100 million to HP, and a whopping 200,000 free attribute points per level!
Seito scrutinized his attributes. His base speed—completely unequipped—had already reached 1.2 million. When factoring in the multiplicative bonuses of his Space Set, his total speed was hovering around 96 million.
He was on the verge of breaking the 100 million mark! Once he hit that milestone, he expected to receive another "Specialization Reward."
"Sigh, I wonder if there are any mini-bosses left on this floor," Seito muttered, scanning the horizon with a frustrated sigh.
He had spent the entire day grinding the 51st floor, successfully plundering his Divine Power up to 30,000. However, he had run into a major bottleneck: there were no more mini-bosses left! While common mobs technically possessed Divine Power, the drop rate was abysmal—less than one in a hundred thousand. It was a tedious slog that left Seito feeling drained.
Pulling out his Stealth Orb, Seito checked the mini-map.
"I guess the only option is to check out the 51st-floor labyrinth."
Seito planned to use the Stealth Orb's concealment to sneak into the Boss Labyrinth. If he could slip past the guardians, he might be able to reach the 52nd floor. The 51st floor had nothing left to offer him; neither his power nor his experience bar were moving at a satisfying pace.
Even after a full day of slaughtering countless mini-bosses, he had only gained a single level. At this rate, reaching Level 100 would take months.
"Forget it, let's just see what's in there," Seito said, shaking off the stray thoughts.
He stood up and used Spatial Shift, flickering rapidly toward the labyrinth entrance.
Ten minutes later... Entrance to the 51st Floor Boss Labyrinth.
Seito studied the entrance. Much like the 50th floor, it was a massive set of double doors, though these were stained a visceral blood-red. The eldritch, demonic carvings etched into the stone emitted a crushing sense of pressure.
Activating the Stealth Orb, Seito stepped inside.
The moment he crossed the threshold, a cold sweat broke out across his skin! In the darkness ahead, a pair of gargantuan, lidless eyes had locked onto him with terrifying precision.
Seito knew with absolute certainty that those eyes hadn't been looking at the door. They had zeroed in on him the exact millisecond he entered.
[Evil God's Ghostly Eye]
[LV: ???]
[HP: ???]
The data was unreadable—exactly like the mobs on the 51st floor. Without clearing the 50th floor properly, this was an impossible wall.
"@^#...~!"
The creature let out an otherworldly, dissonant shriek. Seito collapsed to one knee, clutching his ears as a sharp, piercing pain lanced through his head.
Whoosh!
Without a second thought, Seito used Spatial Shift to vanish from the labyrinth. He reappeared outside, leaning against the red doors and gasping for breath.
"What the hell was that?" Seito's brow furrowed.
The moment the boss screeched, his ears felt like they were being pierced by needles. It felt remarkably like the "Whispers of an Evil God," though not quite as potent as the legends. In his memory, a true Evil God's whisper could invade a mind, causing the brain to explode or forcibly converting the victim into a cultist.
"Whatever it is, the 52nd floor is a no-go for now."
Setting aside the boss's actual combat abilities, the mere fact that it could see through his artifact-grade stealth was enough to kill his curiosity.
"Log out."
Bedroom.
As soon as Seito returned to reality, he summoned Little Sun-Moon.
"Meow~" The little cat chirped and curled up on the bed.
Seito looked at her with a slightly complicated expression. Lately, he hadn't used her in combat at all. All she did was eat, sleep, and act as the ultimate "wing-cat" to help him pick up girls. But Seito didn't mind; he enjoyed the company.
He scooped her up, flopped onto his bed, and closed his eyes.
The next morning, 7:30 AM.
Seito woke up groggily, squinting at the time. A second later, he realized he was already late for school.
He sat up, stretched, and looked at Riyue, who was busy munching on a dried fish at the foot of the bed. He dressed quickly, grabbed the cat, and wolfed down the leftovers Tenjo and the others had left for him before rushing out the door.
Sobu High School Entrance.
A woman who looked like a reporter had arrived, followed closely by a cameraman.
Just as they arrived, they saw a young security guard intercepting Iori Kitahara and Kohei Imamura. Before they could process that scene, a strikingly handsome young man carrying a cat strolled past them.
Seeing that he was also wearing the Sobu High uniform, the reporter immediately stepped forward to block his path.
"Excuse me, student! Could I have a few moments for an interview?"
