Chapter 21 - Chapter 21:The One the Angels Love

{ No matter how much time passes, we will be waiting for you }

I shouldn't overthink everything; work is still waiting for me.

I approached the car, but...

"Kenjin! Wait!"

—... Rina? What is it?

"The coffee!"

— The coffee?

"You told me you forgot it, so I brought some for you to take with you."

— There's no need for all this, I can buy some on my way.

"No! I want you to take this! I prepared it just for you."

— I can't refuse then. Thank you.

"You're welcome! ... Are you going straight to work now?"

— Yes, I was thinking of buying coffee on my way before heading to work, but an angel has brought it to me instead.

"An... angel?"

— Yes, indeed. Now, you should go back inside so I can leave; I don't want to be late.

"As you wish. Goodbye!"

— Goodbye.

Rina went back up to the house.

— And now...

— (In a loud voice) You there, Guard! No need to keep watching from behind the wall! Spying doesn't suit you!

The elderly guard emerged from the side of the building entrance and approached Kenjin.

"Don't shout! Are you crazy?!"

— Which one of us is the crazy one? Why were you watching us from a distance?

"Is that the girl who moved in here? She's truly beautiful."

— One more word about her and I'll bury you under your own house.

"I... I'm sorry! I forgot you were her relative... but can you tell me, what is that young lady to you?"

— I see you haven't understood yet. And here I thought I could settle things peacefully... I'll say it one more time...

Kenjin revealed the handle of the pistol in his pocket, making sure the guard saw it.

— This is the last time I'll ask. Why were you watching us?

"Please, there's no need for violence! I just wanted to know about the girl who caused all that trouble yesterday."

— Do you really think I'm convinced by that?

"Truly, that's all it was. I swear to you!"

— Do you remember the man from last night?

"Yes, what about him?"

— Him, me, and an elderly woman you might see today—we are the only ones you are to speak to regarding that girl. Do not mention her or talk about her to anyone else, no matter who they are. Otherwise...

"Don't worry! I won't give her apartment number to anyone but you three. I promise."

— Then I won't have to repeat myself in the future, right?

"Yes, I promise."

— Good... take this, quickly.

Kenjin handed him some money.

— Goodbye.

"Thank you very much! Goodbye, Mr..."

— Kenjin... my name is Kenjin.

"Safe travels, Mr. Kenjin."

Kenjin got into the car.

Now that things here are settled... off to work.

{ No matter how much time passes, we will be waiting for you }

Here I am. I've finally arrived.

I sat in my chair... and the sheer amount of paperwork in front of me is honestly discouraging. I'll endure, as I always do. And so... I began to work.

An hour and a half later

I'll go get a cup of coffee... wait... Rina's coffee is still in the car!

While heading to the car, I ran into Noor, who was also going to her car because she had forgotten something.

"Beautiful morning. How are you, Mr. Kenjin?"

— I'm fine. What about you?

"I'm fine too, aside from feeling bored at work, everything is good."

— Nothing new there. Do you have a lot of work?

"Yes, I have some old tasks I need to finish."

— Seems I'm not the only one suffering then... excuse me for a moment.

I opened the car door and took out the coffee flask.

"Is that coffee?"

— Yes.

"You can order it from here, why did you bring it with you? I apologize if my question intrudes on your privacy."

— Usually, I'd say all your talk intrudes on my privacy. Fine... I suppose it's just your nature to create conversation. This coffee was prepared for me by a member of my family, that's all.

"I'm sorry if I was a bit nosy."

— I said it's fine.

"But... you are a lucky man. To have someone who prepares what you want out of the kindness of their heart. I wish I had someone like that too." (She said it with a tone of disappointment in her voice).

— What about your husband then? Don't you feel joy when you cook something for him?

"Husband? I'm not married, I thought that was obvious."

— I didn't know. I apologize if that upset you.

"Don't worry about it, everything is fine, really. I think I'll head back to my office."

— Oh, I completely lost track of time. I'll go too!

I returned to the office. I think I'll ask to have the coffee warmed up in a bit. Back to work.

Meanwhile, at Rina's house:

"Mayar, Mayar, wake up."

"Five more minutes, please..."

"No, it's time to get up."

Mayar got out of bed.

"Can't I sleep just a little longer?"

"No, you start school tomorrow. You need to wake up early today. Besides, I told you to go to sleep early; why did you get up last night and sit with Hakan until so late?"

"He was telling me exciting stories, I couldn't resist. I'm sorry."

"Fine. Change your clothes and get ready, breakfast is ready."

A few moments later, Rina and Mayar sat at the table having breakfast alone.

"Is Uncle Hakan gone?"

"Yes, he left this morning when Kenjin arrived."

"Haaaaah! Uncle Kenjin came and you didn't wake me up! Why, Rina?!"

"A few minutes ago you were complaining about wanting to sleep, and now it's 'why didn't you wake me up early'?"

"It's different! I wanted to see Uncle Kenjin. Wicked Rina!"

"Where did that nickname come from? He left very quickly anyway, but I think he might visit us soon. Also, he told me that Mrs. Maria is coming today."

"Auntie Maria! Yay!"

"You seem happy with every visitor we receive."

"I love it when the house is full."

"Me too. When we finish, how about we go for a little stroll nearby?"

"Yes! Let's do it!"

Twenty minutes later.

Mayar and Rina got ready for their first outing here. The time had come.

"Mayar, are you ready?"

"Yes, I'm ready!"

"Good. Then... let's go!"
