I'm just gonna take Charles up on his offer, I thought, smoothing down the bedsheets with a sigh. I'll pack my bags and just get out of here. Honestly, anywhere is better than this damn house.
I spent the next hour on the phone with Charles, getting the details of his place sorted out. The second we hung up, I group-called Lina and Amelie to tell them what was going on.
Predictably, Amelie was completely pissed off about my decision. "Eli, seriously, you need to stop running away from everything," her voice crackled through the speaker, dropping into that dangerously calm, creepy tone she always got when she was being dead serious.
"Life is always going to put you in places where people try to bury you. You can't just keep digging yourself out and sprinting to a new graveyard. Stay in one graveyard!"
