...The Divine Realm, the exclusive palace of the God of War, Dai Mubai, and the Goddess of Speed.
A woman leaned quietly in a man's embrace, sitting as they watched the eternal, mist-shrouded Divine Realm.
The woman wore a simple black long dress. Her long black hair was draped behind her back, her posture graceful and elegant. She appeared to be about twenty-eight or twenty-nine years old, with an exquisite face and a very curvaceous figure. Her beautiful eyes were filled with a cold detachment, but her gaze toward the man was incredibly soft, even carrying a hint of dependence.
The man had golden hair and an extremely brawny build. His face was ancient and rugged yet handsome and resolute, with broad shoulders and a wide back. He appeared to be in his thirties, radiating a simple yet majestic aura like that of a towering mountain. His presence was imposing; though he held a stunning beauty in his arms, he seemed completely unable to muster even a spark of interest.
They were two members of the original Shrek Seven Devils: Dai Mubai, the God of War, and Zhu Zhuqing, the Goddess of Speed.
A day in the Divine Realm is a year in the mortal world.
Since the two achieved godhood, ten thousand years had already passed on the Douluo Continent. But for the Divine Realm, it had only been a little over twenty years.
Translated into relative terms, Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing were only about fifty or sixty years old.
Times had changed. Having become gods, the two had long since lost that initial passion for cultivation. Without the power of faith or the support of powerful techniques, no matter how much they cultivated, their own strength would not see much of an increase. Most of the time, they could only be content with the status quo.
This eternal, unchanging life was by no means something an ordinary person could endure. Zhu Zhuqing was somewhat better; she was naturally a person who took things as they came. Even when she left the Star Luo Empire to find Dai Mubai back then, it was merely due to pressure from her sister and a desire to survive. This current leisurely life, where she neither had to worry about being pursued nor feared for her lifespan, was exactly what she had once longed for most.
But Dai Mubai was clearly not a man content with peace.
He was born with a romantic and fickle nature, prone to liking the new and loathing the old. No matter how good Zhu Zhuqing was, after a long time, he inevitably began to find life bland and uninteresting.
Yet he could not descend to the mortal realm; Tang San would not allow it. Furthermore, he could not seek out other female deities; not only would Zhu Zhuqing refuse to agree, but the one who led them to godhood—Tang San, the Dual Godhead holder of the Sea God and the Asura God—would not tolerate him doing anything that would damage the unity of the Shrek Seven Devils.
Therefore, Dai Mubai could only try his best to suppress his impulses.
And so, Dai Mubai stared vacantly toward the mist-covered Divine Realm in the distance; this was currently his only form of entertainment.
Suddenly, within the clouds, a blue speck of light flickered in and out of view. The blue light approached them at high speed; it was clearly far away just a moment ago, but every flicker closed a vast distance. After several flashes, Dai Mubai finally saw a familiar figure within that light.
Zhu Zhuqing also noticed the presence of the light and looked up.
Water-blue long hair, luxurious blue robes—who else could it be but Tang San?
Both were deities with incredible eyesight. Seeing Tang San, they dared not show the slightest negligence. They immediately stood up quickly, straightened their appearances, and prepared with solemn expressions to welcome the arrival of this God-King Tang.
It was no wonder they acted this way; the pressure Tang San currently exerted on the two was simply too great. Whether it was his cultivation level at the God-King stage or his status as an Law Enforcer of the Divine Realm, even if they firmly believed Tang San was still the same Tang San of old, they dared not overstep their bounds in the slightest.
A moment later, in a flash of blue light, Tang San appeared before them.
"Little... Tang San, you've come. Zhuqing, hurry and brew some tea for your Third Brother."
Dai Mubai went forward immediately to greet him and gestured for Zhu Zhuqing to serve tea. That direct address of "Tang San" was his last bit of stubbornness as the former head of the Shrek Seven Devils and the nominal Boss Dai.
"There is no need. Zhuqing, please excuse us for a moment. I have matters to discuss with Mubai." Though Tang San's face remained calm, the inner fury in his heart had already reached its peak.
Sensing something wrong in Tang San's tone, Zhu Zhuqing looked at her husband, then at Tang San. She opened her mouth, but ultimately said nothing and turned to leave.
Once Zhu Zhuqing entered the divine hall, the two sat down. Dai Mubai sat upright and formal, looking at Tang San. Tang San ignored him, simply brewing tea for himself, then lifting the teacup and swirling it gently.
After a long time, Dai Mubai finally could no longer stand the atmosphere and asked cautiously, "Tang San, has something happened?"
"Mhm." Tang San didn't specify what the matter was, only giving a slight nod.
"Just say it. We are all brothers. As long as you speak the word, I, Dai Mubai, will charge forward without a second thought. I'll kill those who block us, whether they be men or gods."
Dai Mubai struck his chest forcefully, professing his loyalty to Tang San.
"It is not a major matter; there is no need for you to fight on the front lines for me. There is simply a person I want to ask if you know."
Tang San felt he had pressured him enough and asked with narrowed eyes.
"Who?" Dai Mubai was stunned.
"Dai Huabin!" Tang San calmly uttered these three words. As he spoke, his gaze subtly scanned Dai Mubai, wanting to see his reaction upon hearing the name.
"Dai Huabin?" Dai Mubai looked completely bewildered. From the surname, it wasn't hard for him to guess that this was likely a descendant left on the Douluo Continent by himself or his elder brother, Dai Davis.
However, let alone his brother's descendants, even his own descendants... ten thousand years had passed on the Douluo Continent. Generation after generation of his descendants had died off; he had long since ceased to care.
Thus, he said solemnly: "Has this person offended you? Tang San, since you came to find me today, it means this person has some connection to me. Just say the word—tell me what to do. At your command, even if I have to cut down my own father, my mother, or my own biological son, I wouldn't even blink."
"Very well. Go and kill him, then. He is currently at Shrek Academy on the Douluo Continent."
Tang San still didn't fully trust Dai Mubai and made one final test.
"Fine, then I shall descend to the mortal realm and kill him right now." Upon hearing an opportunity to go down to the mortal world, Dai Mubai's eyes immediately lit up, and he stood up to act.
He never imagined such a good thing could happen. On this trip down, he would definitely find a thousand beauties and have a grand time on the Douluo Continent for a year. Every day would be different.
Seeing Dai Mubai's eager, lecherous expression, Tang San's mouth twitched, and he called him back. "Enough, you don't need to go."
He knew that Dai Mubai didn't have the brains for this, let alone the courage.
Hearing this, Dai Mubai sat back down, unable to hide his disappointment, and looked at him listlessly. "Tang San, what exactly is going on?"
Tang San thought for a moment and said in a heavy voice: "I intended to nurture a successor to inherit my position as the Sea God. Not long ago, I found one on the Douluo Continent."
"And that person has been growing smoothly, exactly as I expected. During this time, Xiao Qi secretly descended to the mortal realm and became involved with that person."
"However, I do not know who is meddling from the shadows. They severed the connection between Xiao Qi and that person, and even arranged for a descendant of yours named Dai Huabin to forcibly intervene, resulting in a Martial Soul Fusion skill being born between them."
