"So it really is Demon King Piccolo…" Master Roshi sighed deeply.
He adjusted his glasses and looked in the direction where Piccolo had disappeared.
"It seems he entered the World Martial Arts Tournament to take revenge on Broly, right?"
"Yes," Son Goku nodded firmly.
"That's exactly his plan. First he wants to win the tournament championship, and then, in front of the whole world, personally kill Broly to announce his return."
"Am I really that easy to kill?" Broly finally couldn't help rolling his eyes.
He shook his head, sounding as if he had just heard a ridiculous joke.
Everyone fell silent.
They all looked at him with complicated expressions.
Yes, you are strong.
You proved that three years ago.
But the problem is—
You haven't trained at all these past three years.
We've all seen how lazy you've been.
Meanwhile, all of us—including Goku, Tien, even Krillin and Yamcha—have improved tremendously.
And you?
Your strength should still be the same as it was three years ago.
"I just remembered something," Yamcha said suddenly.
"I saw Shen using the Mafuba, and then a shadow came out of his body…"
"Yes," Tien continued.
"A figure that looked exactly like Demon King Piccolo came out of Shen's body… and entered that bottle."
"That wasn't Piccolo," Goku explained calmly.
"He was using a human body to fight Piccolo."
"He was Kami."
"WHAT?! Kami?!"
Master Roshi, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chi-Chi, and even Chiaotzu all cried out in shock.
Their eyes widened in disbelief.
Kami.
The legendary guardian of Earth.
He had appeared before them in this way…
And now he had been sealed?
"Kami and Piccolo were originally the same person," Goku continued seriously.
"To become the Earth's guardian, Kami separated all the evil from his heart. That evil formed the original Demon King Piccolo."
"So if either one dies, the other dies as well. They share the same life."
"I see…" Roshi nodded slowly.
At last he understood the centuries-long conflict between them.
"So in order to eliminate the other without killing himself… he had no choice but to use the Mafuba."
"Can Kami escape from the bottle?" Goku asked worriedly.
"As long as the bottle is opened, he can," Tien said calmly.
"But… Piccolo swallowed the bottle."
"What do we do?" Krillin muttered nervously.
Cold sweat covered his bald head.
"That guy is too strong. Even Kami couldn't defeat him."
"Exactly," Tien said gravely after taking a deep breath.
He looked at everyone around him and stated the harsh truth.
"Even if all of us fight together… we probably still wouldn't be his match."
"Broly…" Yamcha said unwillingly.
"Have you actually trained at all these past few years?"
He asked this while clinging to their last hope.
Even though he knew the answer might be disappointing.
"No."
Broly spread his hands.
The answer came instantly.
Completely straightforward.
Yamcha covered his face in despair.
So you really didn't train…
Not even a little.
"Goku, do you have confidence?" Krillin asked.
All their hopes now rested on Goku.
"I'll find a way," Goku said firmly.
There was no hesitation in his eyes.
Then Goku looked at Broly again.
His gaze carried a complicated emotion.
Broly felt uncomfortable under that stare.
"Broly!" Goku said seriously.
"If you really end up fighting Piccolo… please promise me one thing."
"Don't kill him."
"You mean because if he dies, Kami dies too?" Broly replied immediately.
He understood the problem right away.
"Yes!" Goku nodded.
"And if Kami dies, the Dragon Balls will disappear too. There will never be Dragon Balls on Earth again!"
"The Dragon Balls disappear?" Broly scratched his head.
For the first time, he looked slightly concerned.
"Mmm… now that I think about it, I've never asked Shenron for any delicious food before."
"So you agree?" Goku asked hopefully.
"Yeah, I understand," Broly said casually.
It didn't seem like a difficult request to him.
After all—
The Dragon Balls were useful.
If they disappeared, he would never be able to wish for rare foods again.
That would be a huge loss.
Wait…
Grand Priest.
The name suddenly flashed in Broly's mind again.
He could ask Shenron who the Grand Priest was.
That's a good idea.
Broly's eyes lit up.
This deal seemed worthwhile.
"I can promise not to kill him," Broly said while stroking his chin.
"But you have to help me gather the Dragon Balls. I want to ask Shenron something."
"No problem!" Goku agreed immediately.
"Leave collecting the Dragon Balls to me!"
"Goku… what are you talking about?" Yamcha said helplessly.
"You're acting like Broly can really defeat Piccolo."
"He hasn't trained for three years! His strength must still be the same as before, and Piccolo is clearly far stronger than his father!"
"Broly really hasn't trained," Goku admitted.
"But…"
He smiled mysteriously.
"I can feel it."
"The energy inside him is terrifying."
"It's like a bottomless ocean."
"What?!"
Yamcha, Krillin, and Tien stared at Broly in shock.
Then they looked at Goku again.
Their hearts were shaken.
Was Goku telling the truth?
Could this lazy guy really possess such terrifying hidden power?
They couldn't believe it—
But they couldn't completely ignore Goku's judgment either.
A strange feeling appeared in their hearts.
Confusion…
Mixed with a faint spark of hope.
