Jonathan's POV
Rollings Designs - Office - The next day
I was sitting alone in my office, and I couldn't stop thinking about my mother.
The records laid before me.
The River family memories I couldn't remember as I was too young.
Photos sprawled across the desk before me.
My mother's smiling face stared back at me as she was holding me in her arms.
The love she had for me was clear in her eyes.
My mind began to drift from here on.
I tried to imagine a terrified woman hiding from the gun shots, yelling robbers, and a maid covering her, helping her to escape as he grabbed onto the little baby in her arms.
When they managed to escape the estate,
God knows how long they roamed outside before they could find a shelter.
A strange place, a strange house, unknown people.
New name, new identity, hiding from people who knew her.
As a child I often had nightmares,
A woman's terrified voice.
Gun shots.
Every time I would wake up screaming, and mother would comfort me.
