Vance's POV
Office - Mid-afternoon
The office was quiet, the only audible sound was the humming of the CPU beneath my desk.
"Jonathan," I said online. "Are you sure? I don't know but your grocery store idea, and you alone—"
Jonathan cut my words mid-way.
"Vance, I had to come or else would I know Imelda had met Lori and was on good terms with her while she was here?"
"Makes sense," I said. "So, are there any clues?"
"That's the odd part," Jonathan said.
"Everything about this town feels out-of-place,"
"There are too many loose ends, the more I grab, the more I lose,"
"And from Rod, I found out no one wants to talk about Lori."
"When are you coming back?"
"Obviously, not till I find something about Adrian's father,"
"Got anything?" Jonathan asked.
"Jonathan," I said. "It's been fifteen years, remember back then things weren't online. Still, whatever I can get, I will."
"Like…"
I trailed off a bit as I wanted Jonathan to focus on what I was about to tell.
