Guiying had expected choosing a pair of baby shoes to be simple.
He had been wrong.
The moment he entered the store and saw the display arranged across the shelves, he realized there were far too many options. There were tiny sneakers, little leather shoes, soft booties and miniature sandals, each one more adorable than the last.
He stood in front of the display with his arms folded, studying them with an unusual amount of seriousness.
He had no idea whether the little bean would be a boy or a girl, so buying something gender-specific seemed premature. He decided to choose two pairs instead, one that would suit a little girl and another that would look just as good on a little boy.
The problem was that he couldn't decide which ones were the prettiest.
"This one is cute."
Guiying picked up a tiny pair of white shoes and examined them, then put them back. He moved to another shelf and picked up a cream-colored pair with a delicate little bow.
"These are even cuter."
