Chapter 31 - The Dream of the Conductor

Daniel Voss lay motionless on the cracked crimson plain, body broken by a single divine punch. His eyes remained closed, breath shallow. The Red Knight stood over him like a statue of judgment, white eyes burning behind the shattered visor. Vannia and Mia were still frozen mid-stride, silver and white auras straining uselessly against the god's will. The five summoned souls flickered like dying candles, barely holding form.

Inside Daniel's mind, the world dissolved.

He found himself standing in an endless concert hall made of black marble and floating golden sheet music. The seats stretched into infinity. A single spotlight cut through the darkness, illuminating a tall figure on a raised conductor's podium.

The entity wore a pristine black tailcoat that shifted like living shadows. Its face was hidden behind a blank white mask with no eyes, only a thin, elegant smile etched in silver. In one gloved hand it held a conductor's baton made of pure golden light. The other rested on the podium, fingers drumming a slow, patient rhythm.

The interface appeared — not in cold blue or urgent gold, but in soft, ancient silver.

```
[Pantheon Entity Encounter – Dream State]
Designation: The Conductor
Role: Arbiter of Ascendance
Threat Level: None (Allied – Provisional)
```

The Conductor tilted its head, silver smile widening.

"Chosen-0007," it spoke, voice layered like a perfect orchestra — every instrument in harmony. "You have done well. You ended the Party. You survived the Plague. You protected your own. Yet one punch from a false god has laid you low."

Daniel tried to move. His body felt weightless, distant.

The Conductor raised the baton and tapped it once against the podium. The entire hall rippled with golden notes.

"I am the one who writes the score for those the Pantheon chooses. The Red Knight believes humans are only evil when given systems. He is half-right. Power reveals. But power can also be *refined*."

It stepped down from the podium and walked across empty air until it stood directly in front of Daniel.

"I will give you my power," The Conductor said simply. "Not a gift. An *order*. Use it to stop him. Break the Reaper Syndicate. Remind the Backrooms that not every human becomes a monster when handed a system."

The baton rose.

Golden light poured from its tip and sank straight into Daniel's chest.

```
```

The Conductor placed the baton gently into Daniel's hand. The silver mask leaned closer.

"He punched you once. When you wake, punch him back with the entire orchestra."

The dream shattered.

---

Daniel's eyes snapped open on the crimson plain.

The Red Knight was still standing over him, gauntlet raised for a second casual strike.

Vannia and Mia were still frozen.

The five summoned souls were still flickering.

But now the golden baton rested in Daniel's right hand, humming with divine resonance. His body no longer hurt. Immune All, Pestilence Type 3, and Summon Soul all surged back to full power and beyond — wrapped in the new golden threads of Symphony of Dominion.

The Red Knight paused, white eyes narrowing behind the visor.

"You… woke up."

Daniel stood.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

He twirled the golden baton once. The air around him filled with invisible music — low, rising, dangerous.

"Yes," Daniel said, voice calm, carrying the weight of an entire orchestra. "And now I have the score."

The Red Knight's greatsword lifted.

The crimson plain trembled.

Daniel raised the baton.

The true battle for the Backrooms had just received its conductor.
