Chapter 103 - CHAPTER 103: THE PROPOSAL

The moment the VIP Ferris wheel cabin finally touched back down to the solid earth, the heavy, intoxicating spell of our sky-high kiss was still warmly wrapped around us. My cheeks were flushed a deep, permanent pink, and my hand was tucked safely inside the deep pocket of Woonseok's charcoal overcoat, our fingers perfectly intertwined to fight off the freezing winter air.

As we walked back into the main plaza, the neon lights of the empty theme park seemed to glow even brighter.

But suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, a vibrant pop of color completely derailed my romantic trance.

"Oh my gosh!" I gasped, violently abruptly stopping in my tracks and nearly yanking Woonseok backward.

Woonseok blinked, instantly going on high alert. He looked around the empty plaza, his broad shoulders tensing. "What? What is it?

"No!" I yelled excitedly, pointing a frantic finger toward a brightly lit carnival stall just a few yards away. "Look! Plushies!"

Woonseok let out a heavy, incredibly long sigh of relief, dropping his head back to look at the starless sky. He instinctively lifted his left wrist, pulling back the sleeve of his coat to reveal his million-dollar luxury watch.

11:50 PM.

Exactly ten minutes until the park's automated pyrotechnic system was scheduled to launch the massive, custom-ordered fireworks display into the sky. Ten minutes until the absolute biggest moment of his entire life.

"Butterfly," Woonseok said softly, trying to gently steer me away from the stall. "Where are you going? We need to head toward the central plaza. I have a—"

"Woonseok, look at him!" I interrupted, completely ignoring his gentle tug. I dragged the global superstar directly toward the glowing stall, my eyes absolutely shining with pure, childish delight.

Sitting right in the center of the stall's display was a massive, incredibly round, entirely oversized grey koala plushie. It was almost as big as me, with giant fluffy ears and long, velcro-padded arms designed to wrap entirely around a person's torso.

"I want this one. Please!" I begged, turning to him and deploying my ultimate, most lethal weapon: the giant, sparkling puppy-dog eyes. "Look at him! He is so huge and big! And look at his arms, he is so completely cute and clingy!"

Woonseok stared at the giant koala. Then, he looked down at me. A low, incredibly rich chuckle rumbled deep within his chest, vibrating through the cold air. The sheer terror of his impending proposal momentarily melted away, replaced by pure, overwhelming fondness.

"Cute and clingy, huh?" Woonseok mused, a devastatingly handsome, teasing smirk curling the corners of his lips. He reached out, gently tapping the tip of my freezing nose. "I wonder who else is incredibly cute and completely, hopelessly clingy?"

"Hey!" I gasped, playfully swatting his chest. "I am not clingy! I am highly independent! Now buy me the bear before I leave you here!"

Woonseok threw his head back and laughed freely, the beautiful sound echoing across the empty pavement. Without hesitating, he pulled out his black card, tapping it against the automated vendor terminal. He grabbed the massive koala, effortlessly carrying the giant plushie under one arm like it weighed absolutely nothing.

He offered me his free hand.

"Come on," Woonseok said, his voice suddenly dropping lower, taking on a completely different, slightly breathless tone. "Come with me, Butterfly. I have a surprise for you."

I adjusted my grip on the giant koala's paw, looking up at him with a confused tilt of my head. "A surprise? What surprise? Woonseok, you literally rented an entire metropolitan amusement park. What else could possibly be a surprise? Did you buy me an actual, living koala?"

Woonseok smiled softly, his dark eyes shimmering with an emotion so deep and profound it actually made my breath hitch. He tightened his grip on my hand.

"Just trust me," he whispered. "Don't worry about anything right now. Just come with me."

Woonseok led me toward a beautifully secluded section of the park, right along the edge of the central decorative lake. The water was perfectly still, reflecting the golden fairy lights strung up in the surrounding winter trees.

He guided me toward an ornate wooden bench facing the expansive, open view of the water and the dark horizon.

"Sit here," Woonseok instructed softly.

I plopped down onto the bench, the massive koala plushie squished onto my lap, acting as a giant, fluffy blanket against the winter cold. Woonseok didn't sit next to me. Instead, he took a step back, standing just behind the bench.

"Mr. Idol, what are we doing here?" I asked, craning my neck to look back at him.

Woonseok pointed a long finger toward the dark expanse above the lake. "Butterfly... look at the sky."

I frowned in confusion, turning my gaze forward. "The sky? Woonseok, it's completely dark. There are no stars tonight because of the city smog—"

BOOM!

The sudden, earth-shattering sound echoed through the silent park. I jumped in my seat, my eyes flying wide open.

Suddenly, a massive streak of golden light shot straight up into the pitch-black sky. A second later, it violently exploded into a breathtaking, colossal shower of brilliant gold and crimson sparks.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A dozen more followed in rapid succession. The entire sky was instantly ripped apart by an ocean of blinding, magnificent colors. Deep purples, brilliant pinks, and explosive diamond-white lights painted the heavens, their massive reflections rippling beautifully across the surface of the dark lake. The sheer force of the fireworks reverberated in my chest.

"Wow..." I breathed out, completely paralyzed by the sheer magnitude of the show. The sky was literally raining starlight.

I sat there, my hands clutching the koala, completely mesmerized as flower-shaped explosions and golden willows rained down over the water. It was the most beautiful, cinematic, insanely extravagant thing I had ever seen in my entire life.

"Woonseok!" I yelled over the loud, booming echoes of the pyrotechnics, keeping my eyes glued to the sky. "Wow! It is so beautiful! Is this what you planned?! It's absolutely perfect!"

I didn't hear a reply.

"Woonseok?"

With a massive, brilliant smile stretching across my face, illuminated by the flashing pink and gold lights of the sky, I slowly turned my head around to look at him.

But Woonseok wasn't standing behind the bench anymore.

I blinked, confused. I shifted my body, turning completely to the side.

And then, my entire universe violently stopped spinning.

Jang Woonseok, the global superstar, the terrifying Sovereign, the man who commanded the absolute attention of millions... was down on one knee on the freezing concrete pavement.

In his large, trembling hand, he held a midnight-blue velvet box. And inside that box, resting on a bed of silk, was a diamond so breathtaking, so incredibly flawless, that it caught the explosive flashes of the fireworks above and shattered the light into a million dazzling pieces.

My breath completely left my lungs.

The giant koala slipped from my lap, tumbling onto the ground. I didn't even notice. I just stared at him, my eyes instantly filling with hot, overwhelming tears that blurred the edges of my vision.

Woonseok looked up at me.

His perfectly styled hair was slightly messy from the wind. His broad chest was rising and falling with heavy, nervous breaths. And in his dark, intense eyes, there were unshed tears shining brilliantly against the neon lights. He was trembling. The man who never showed fear to the world was completely, entirely vulnerable, laying his soul completely bare right at my feet.

"Butterfly..." Woonseok's deep voice was thick, cracking beautifully with raw emotion as he looked up into my tear-filled eyes.

I gasped quietly, bringing both of my hands up to cover my mouth, trying to muffle the sob that was violently clawing its way up my throat. "Woonseok..."

"Let me speak," he whispered, a nervous, watery smile breaking across his incredibly handsome face. He took a deep, shaky breath, desperately trying to steady his pounding heart.

"Sana... before I met you, my life was nothing but blinding lights and deafening noise," Woonseok started, his voice ringing with absolute, unshakeable sincerity. "I had everything a man could possibly buy in this world, yet I had absolutely nothing. I was walking through an endless, freezing desert of loneliness. And then... you crashed into me."

A tear slipped down my cheek, burning hot against my freezing skin.

"You gave me a love I never had," Woonseok continued, his dark eyes pouring his entire existence into mine. "You converted my absolute loneliness into a home. You never cared about the Sovereign. You never cared about the money, or the fame, or the cameras. You just cared about the man who couldn't sleep at night. You gave me so much... so incredibly much, that I know I will never deserve it."

"No..." I sobbed quietly, shaking my head frantically behind my hands.

"But still," Woonseok's voice dropped into a fierce, desperate plea, his free hand reaching out to gently wrap around my trembling fingers. "Even if I don't deserve it... I selfishly want to keep it. I want to take care of you for the rest of my life. I want to be the one who makes your coffee, who listens to your chaotic stories, who chases you when you are angry."

Another massive firework exploded in the sky behind us, painting Woonseok's tear-streaked face in a brilliant wash of gold.

"I love you so much, Sana," Woonseok whispered, a tear finally escaping his eye and rolling down his sharp jawline. "Not just in this universe. In every single lifetime. In every parallel universe that has ever existed. My soul will always, always choose yours."

He tightened his grip on my hand, looking at me with the absolute devotion of a man praying to his only religion.

"So, my beautiful Butterfly..." Woonseok asked, the ultimate question finally leaving his lips, hanging perfectly in the air between us. "Can I be yours forever? Will you marry me?"

For a long, agonizing second, the only sound in the world was the crackling echo of the fireworks and the heavy, ragged breathing of two people entirely consumed by love.

I dropped my hands from my face. My cheeks were completely soaked in tears, my chest heaving with overwhelming sobs. But through the tears, a massive, brilliant, completely radiant smile broke across my face.

I looked down at the absolute love of my life, my chaotic, jealous, deeply dramatic idol.

"Yes," I cried out, my voice cracking wildly into the night sky.

Woonseok's breath hitched, a massive wave of absolute relief and pure euphoria crashing violently into his chest.

"But!" I suddenly gasped, holding up a strict, trembling finger, trying to compose myself as a wet laugh escaped my lips. "Yes... if you promise to forever be this hopelessly clingy to me! Yes, if you promise to always love me exactly how I am!"

Woonseok laughed through his tears, an incredibly beautiful, relieved sound.

"Yes," I sobbed, practically sliding off the bench to drop to my knees right onto the cold concrete in front of him. "Yes, if you can handle my weird phases! Yes, if you can handle it when I am randomly angry at the world! Yes, if you can handle my terrible, chaotic mood swings when I am writing my novels and I don't even know who I am!"

Woonseok didn't say a single word. His eyes were shining with the brilliance of a thousand suns.

He gently, reverently took my left hand in his. With trembling fingers, he carefully slid the cold, heavy platinum band onto my ring finger. The massive stardust diamond slid into place, resting perfectly exactly where it was always meant to be.

The moment the ring cleared my knuckle, Woonseok violently threw the empty velvet box onto the pavement.

He surged forward, wrapping his massive, powerful arms entirely around my waist, and pulled me crashing into his chest. He buried his face deep into the crook of my neck, holding me so tightly, so fiercely, as if he was trying to physically fuse our souls together right there on the concrete.

I wrapped my arms tightly around his broad shoulders, burying my face into his freezing charcoal coat, sobbing uncontrollably into his chest.

"I've got you," Woonseok whispered hoarsely against my skin, his large hand stroking the back of my hair as the grand finale of the fireworks exploded above us, turning the midnight sky into broad daylight. "I can handle all of your chaos, Sana. I will handle it all. You are mine now. Forever."

I squeezed my eyes shut, holding onto him tighter, feeling the solid, heavy weight of the diamond resting against his back.

He was right. I was his. He was mine.

And in that completely empty amusement park, surrounded by fallen plushies and the ashes of a million fireworks, our chaotic, weird, beautiful universe officially became one.

The echoes of the grand firework finale had long faded into the freezing winter sky, but the explosive, earth-shattering joy in my chest was only just beginning.

I was still kneeling on the cold concrete of the empty amusement park, completely wrapped in the massive, protective fortress of Woonseok's arms. We pulled back from our tight embrace just enough to look at each other. His face was stained with a few stray, happy tears, and my cheeks were entirely flushed.

We looked at each other, and simultaneously, a breathless, entirely euphoric laughter bubbled out of our chests.

He leaned in, capturing my lips in a dizzying, joyful kiss. It tasted like cold winter air, salty tears, and absolute, undeniable perfection. We kissed and laughed against each other's mouths, completely drunk on the sheer magnitude of the moment.

When we finally separated, I slowly lifted my left hand.

The stardust diamond resting on my ring finger caught the ambient neon lights of the park, glittering with a blinding, heavy brilliance. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, perfectly sized, perfectly weighted.

"So..." I sniffled softly, a massive, radiant smile stretching across my face as I looked up through my eyelashes at the towering superstar kneeling in front of me. "You were planning this entire thing all along, Mr. Idol? The empty park, the rollercoaster torture, the Ferris wheel... it was all leading to this?"

Woonseok let out a low, incredibly rich chuckle, his dark eyes absolutely brimming with adoration. "Every single second of it, Butterfly. The Sovereign always executes his tactical operations with absolute precision."

"Well," I giggled, reaching forward and pressing a loud, incredibly sweet kiss directly onto his sharp, cold cheek. "Mission accomplished, Jang Woonseok. It is officially the absolute best date night I have ever had."

Woonseok's eyes darkened slightly, a sudden, devastatingly handsome smirk curling the corners of his lips.

Before I could even blink, he suddenly stood up, bringing me entirely with him. With one smooth, incredibly powerful motion, he swept his massive arms under my knees and my back, lifting me completely off the ground and into his chest bridal-style.

"Ah!" I squeaked in surprise, instinctively throwing my arms around his broad neck to steady myself, my heavy winter skirt swishing through the air. "Woonseok! What are you doing? Put me down, you're going to break your back!"

"My back is perfectly fine," Woonseok declared arrogantly, his chest rumbling against me as he began to walk us toward the exit of the park with long, determined strides. He looked down at me, his gaze dropping to my lips before locking entirely onto my eyes. "And we are leaving. It is time to go home, my wife."

The word hit me like a physical, electrical shock.

My wife.

My entire face instantly erupted into a furious, burning shade of crimson. My heart did a violent, chaotic backflip in my chest.

"Stop teasing me!" I practically whined, burying my burning face completely into the lapel of his expensive charcoal overcoat, though a massive, uncontrollable smile was hidden against the fabric.

"I am simply stating a legal inevitability, Mrs. Jang," he whispered into my hair, his deep voice vibrating with absolute, unfiltered triumph.

The drive back to our luxury penthouse in the heart of Seoul was a blur of tangled fingers, soft kisses in the back of the tinted van, and the heavy, comforting warmth of his body pressed entirely against mine.

When we finally arrived, the private elevator chimed softly, opening its sleek metallic doors to our darkened apartment.

Woonseok stepped out first, pushing the heavy mahogany front door open. The house was quiet, bathed in the soft, warm atmospheric glow of the city lights filtering through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows. It felt intimate. It felt incredibly private.

I walked into the spacious living room, kicking off my winter boots. I didn't even bother turning on the main overhead lights. I just stood there in the middle of the room, slowly slipping off my coat.

But my eyes instantly drifted right back down to my left hand.

In the dim, warm amber lighting of the city skyline, the diamond practically glowed. I stared at it, my thumb gently tracing the smooth platinum band. A soft, breathless sigh escaped my lips.

"I still can't believe it," I whispered into the quiet room, completely lost in my own thoughts. "It feels like a literal dream. I feel like I am going to wake up in my old apartment and realize none of this happened."

I suddenly felt a massive, solid heat press directly against my back.

Woonseok had silently stepped up behind me. He wrapped his long, muscular arms entirely around my waist, pulling my back perfectly flush against his broad chest. He rested his chin softly on my shoulder, his large hand coming up to gently, tenderly brush a stray lock of dark hair away from my neck.

"You feel like a dream to me, too," Woonseok murmured, his deep, velvety voice rumbling directly against my ear, sending a violent shiver cascading all the way down my spine.

I leaned back into his embrace, completely melting into his warmth.

But then, Woonseok slowly turned his head. His lips brushed agonizingly softly against the sensitive skin of my jawline.

"However," Woonseok whispered, his voice suddenly dropping an entire octave, transforming from sweet romance into a dark, husky, and incredibly dangerous register. "I think I have the absolute best way to tell you that this night... is definitely not a dream."

My breath violently hitched in my throat.

I turned my head slightly, my dark eyes meeting his. The playful, nervous boy who had dropped to one knee in the freezing park was completely gone. The man staring back at me right now was the Sovereign—predatory, intensely focused, and absolutely burning with a dark, consuming hunger. The raw, heavy desire swirling in his deep eyes was so potent it practically stole the oxygen from the room.

My brain instantly connected the dots. I understood exactly what he was trying to say.

"U-um..." I stammered pathetically, my entire body suddenly feeling like it was on fire. I desperately tried to step out of his iron grip, my face burning with a furious, violent blush. "I... I didn't mean that! I just meant... I'm going to go change! Yes! Change my clothes!"

Woonseok didn't let me go. He merely tightened his grip around my waist, a low, dark chuckle vibrating in his chest. "Hmm? Say it again, Butterfly. You didn't mean what?"

He leaned in closer, his lips hovering dangerously mere millimeters from my earlobe. The sheer proximity of his massive frame was entirely overwhelming.

Pure, unadulterated panic and absolute shyness violently hijacked my nervous system. With a sudden burst of adrenaline, I managed to duck right under his arm, breaking free from his embrace.

"I'm going to the bedroom!" I shrieked, my socks sliding slightly on the sleek hardwood floor as I broke into a frantic, chaotic sprint down the long hallway.

"You cannot run away, Butterfly!" Woonseok's deep, highly amused voice echoed loudly through the penthouse, followed immediately by the heavy, terrifying thud of his footsteps as the apex predator initiated the chase. "Today, I will show you exactly what reality feels like! Come back here!"

I practically dove into the master bedroom, frantically trying to shut the heavy door behind me, but Woonseok's massive hand easily caught the edge of the wood, pushing it open with terrifying, effortless strength.

He stepped into the bedroom, his tie completely loosened, his collar unbuttoned, and a dark, devastatingly wicked smirk painted across his flawless face.

The bedroom was bathed in a gorgeous, warm atmospheric lighting from the bedside lamps, casting soft, cinematic shadows across the massive, king-sized bed in the center of the room.

"Stay back!" I laughed nervously, backing up against the edge of the mattress. My heart was hammering a frantic, chaotic rhythm against my ribs.

Woonseok merely took a slow, deliberate step forward, looking at me like a wolf cornering a very small, very easily flustered rabbit.

In a moment of pure, desperate self-defense, I reached behind me, grabbing one of the massive, overly fluffy decorative pillows off the bed. Without a second thought, I hurled it directly at his face with all my strength.

Smack!

The plush pillow hit the global superstar directly in the nose, bouncing off his face and landing on the floor.

The room went entirely, terrifyingly silent.

Woonseok slowly blinked. The smirk vanished, replaced by a look of absolute, lethal determination.

"Oh, you want a war, Mrs. Jang?" he growled playfully.

"Ahhhh!" I screamed, turning to scramble across the massive mattress.

Before I could even reach the other side, Woonseok lunged onto the bed. He grabbed another pillow, swinging it down and hitting me squarely in the back. I collapsed onto the mattress with a shriek of laughter, instantly rolling over and grabbing my own ammunition.

For the next five minutes, the luxurious, perfectly organized master bedroom devolved into an absolute battlefield of absolute chaos.

"Take that, you giant tree!" I yelled, successfully swatting him on the shoulder.

"You have terrible aim, Butterfly!" Woonseok laughed, a deep, rich sound that filled the entire room as he effortlessly dodged my next strike, countering with a soft blow to my knees that sent me tumbling into the sheets.

We fought across the massive bed, laughing so hard that tears were streaming down my face. At some point, one of the luxury down pillows violently ripped open.

Instantly, an absolute blizzard of soft white feathers exploded into the air, slowly drifting down around us in the warm, ambient light like indoor snow. It was a beautiful, chaotic, cinematic mess.

My lungs were entirely burning, my stomach aching from laughing so hard. I finally collapsed flat onto my back right in the center of the mattress, dropping my ruined weapon. I was completely surrounded by white feathers, my hair an absolute, tangled mess, my chest heaving as I tried to catch my breath.

"Okay! Okay!" I gasped between loud, breathless giggles, holding my hands up in the air. "Fine! I surrender! I yield to the Sovereign! You win!"

Through the slowly settling cloud of floating white feathers, a massive shadow fell completely over me.

Woonseok didn't just accept my surrender. He claimed his absolute victory.

He moved over me with terrifying, predatory grace. He swung a long, muscular leg over my hips, completely trapping my lower body beneath his heavy weight. Simultaneously, his large hands shot out, catching both of my wrists and pinning them firmly, yet gently, into the soft mattress right above my head.

The chaotic laughter instantly died in my throat.

I stared up at him, my eyes wide.

He was hovering directly above me. The warm, golden light of the bedside lamp illuminated the sharp, flawless structure of his jawline and the dark, heavy, and completely intoxicating hunger burning violently in his eyes. A single white feather was resting beautifully in his dark, messy hair. His broad chest was heaving, pressing slightly against mine with every breath he took.

The playful energy of the pillow fight had vanished into thin air, entirely replaced by a thick, heavy tension that crackled between us like literal electricity.

"W-Woonseok..." I breathed out, my face instantly erupting into a furious blush. I gave a half-hearted, entirely pathetic tug against his grip on my wrists. "Let me go."

Woonseok's gaze slowly dropped from my eyes, tracking down the bridge of my nose, resting heavily on my parted, trembling lips.

A slow, devastating, and incredibly dark smirk curled his mouth.

"Oh, really?" Woonseok whispered, his deep, husky voice vibrating straight through my bones, sending a violent wave of heat pooling directly in my stomach. "But I am entirely not in the mood to let my Butterfly go."

He slowly leaned his massive frame down, his face hovering mere inches from mine. I could feel his hot, minty breath fanning across my flushed cheeks.

"Because just a few hours ago," Woonseok murmured, his intense, dark eyes locking onto mine with absolute, unyielding possession. "I gave you the symbol of making you mine. I put a ring on your finger for the entire world to see."

He shifted his weight slightly, completely settling his solid, heavy frame against my softer one, making me incredibly, overwhelmingly aware of exactly how much larger and stronger he was than me.

"But now..." Woonseok whispered, his voice dropping into a ragged, desperate growl as his lips brushed agonizingly softly against the sensitive skin right just beneath my ear. "...it is time to truly make you mine. In the dark. Where no one else can see."

I violently gasped, my eyes fluttering shut as Woonseok's hot, soft lips finally pressed directly, firmly against the incredibly sensitive crook of my neck.

"Woon..." I whimpered softly, my trapped hands instinctively curling into tight fists against the sheets as a massive, electrical shockwave of pure pleasure shot entirely through my nervous system.

He didn't hesitate anymore. He kissed a blazing, burning trail up my neck, his lips hot and desperate, claiming every single inch of my skin as if he had been starving for centuries. He released my wrists, and my hands instantly flew up, tangling desperately into his dark, messy hair, pulling him completely flush against me.

Woonseok groaned deeply, capturing my lips in a desperate, bruising, and intensely passionate kiss. All the waiting, all the gentle romance, all the soft moments were entirely burned away by the raw, consuming fire of absolute desire.

That night, surrounded by ruined pillows and a thousand white feathers glowing in the warm, ambient light, there were no cameras, no fans, and no fame. There was only the Sovereign, entirely surrendering his absolute power to his Queen, and a girl who finally gave her entire soul to the man who owned her heart.

They spent the night wrapped in a chaotic, beautiful, and deeply passionate storm of endless love, binding themselves together in a way that could ever truly define.
