Hearing that Qiu Xia wanted to take those two creatures over to the Naruto World for experiments, Uncle Jiu pondered for a moment. Having those two troublemakers stay in this world was just asking for a headache; it was probably better to let them be test subjects instead. After all, with Qiu Xia watching them, there shouldn't be any major issues even in a place like the Naruto World.
"Alright, let it be. I'll notify your two senior brothers to come home for a visit. When it's time for you to leave, take those two with you. However, once they arrive, you must keep a close eye on them. Don't let them run wild!" Uncle Jiu warned.
"Don't worry, Master. I'll look after my senior brothers."
As the master and disciple chatted about domestic life, the past, and Daoist arts, time slipped away unnoticed. It wasn't until a voice called out that they realized evening had arrived.
"Senior Brother, I'm back!"
Looking toward the sound, Qiu Xia saw Auntie Zhe walking in with a beautiful girl of about seventeen or eighteen carrying a lunch box. Qiu Xia stared at the girl, momentarily stunned. Why does she look so familiar? Have I seen her somewhere before?
Despite his curiosity about the girl, Qiu Xia politely greeted Auntie Zhe first. "Auntie, it's been a long time!"
"Oh, little Qiu Xia is back! What took you so long? Your Auntie missed you to death!" Auntie Zhe's eyes lit up. she rushed over and pinched Qiu Xia's face affectionately.
"Auntie, the reason I stayed away so long was to give you and Master some space. After all this time, who knew if you two might have produced a little junior brother or sister for me?"
Hearing this, Auntie Zhe looked a bit frustrated. "Who knows what's going on? Your Master and I are both practitioners; we've accumulated plenty of hidden merit, and our divine bodies are healthy. We've worked so hard for so long, and yet there's been no reaction at all. I was even thinking of heading back to Maoshan to ask the Sect Master what the matter is."
On this subject, not only was Auntie Zhe unhappy, but Uncle Jiu felt the same. Before they were together, he had focused solely on his cultivation. Now that they were a couple, he could no longer become the Sect Master of Maoshan, so he wanted to leave an heir to carry on his bloodline. He had worked very hard every dayexcept when Auntie Zhe's "monthly relative" came to visitbut they still had no child.
Uncle Jiu's knowledge from Maoshan was vast, including medicine. He had checked himself and Auntie Zhe, and both were perfectly fine. Even if there had been a problem before, it should have vanished after he broke through to become a Celestial Master. Why, after all this time, was there still no child? It made no sense.
If they were ordinary people, a failure to conceive despite good health might be described as a lack of karma or the result of too many past sins, scaring off potential souls from reincarnating. But Uncle Jiu and Auntie Zhe were Daoist practitioners who had accumulated immense hidden merit. How could they not have a child?
Seeing their reactions, Qiu Xia raised his hand to perform a quick divination. An expression of embarrassment flashed across his face, though he quickly suppressed it.
Why was Qiu Xia embarrassed? Because this was entirely his fault. Remember the pill Auntie Zhe had forced Uncle Jiu to take? That pill had transformed their bodies into special cultivation physiques. While it greatly increased their cultivation speedallowing Auntie Zhe to reach the ninth layer of the Yin Spirit stage and Uncle Jiu to reach the sixth level in just over a yearit also had a side effect.
The reason they couldn't have a child was that very pill. It was Qiu Xia's "pot" to carry, and he couldn't help but feel awkward.
"Master, I just did a quick divination. The reason you and Auntie haven't had a child is because of your special cultivation physiques. To have a child, you need to work even harder at your cultivation. Once you advance to the stage of a Perfected Person, you will be able to have your own child."
"The Perfected Person stage? That will take decades!" Auntie Zhe nearly jumped. "Even though our speed has increased and we practice every day, it would still take nearly ten years to reach that level!"
"Don't worry, Auntie. There are other opportunities. If we succeed, you and Master can break through your Celestial Master ranks and become Perfected Persons even sooner. By the way... who might this be?" Qiu Xia explained before turning his gaze toward the beautiful girl who had been standing there like a statue.
"This is the disciple your Auntie took in this past year. You can consider her your junior sister! She is the eldest daughter of the Ren family in town, Ren Tingting!" Uncle Jiu introduced her.
"Gong Jiaoting! Pfftcough, cough!" Qiu Xia blurted out instinctively before turning red with embarrassment.
Ren Tingting's face instantly darkened. Her almond-shaped eyes glared at Qiu Xia with a murderous intent, looking as though she wanted to tear him apart. "Senior Brother, you are far too rude!"
"Junior Sister is a transmigrator too, right?" Qiu Xia said, pivoting the topic while keeping his eyes locked on her.
Ren Tingting's eyes flickered. "Transmigrator? What are you talking about? I don't know!"
"Junior Sister, there's no point in pretending now. Do you really think that 'joke' exists in this era? Even if it did, do you think the original Ren Tingting would understand what it meant?" Qiu Xia looked at her with a half-smile.
Ren Tingting's face turned pale. She was terrified and didn't know what to say. Seeing her frightened state, Qiu Xia chuckled. "Don't be afraid. I won't do anything to you. We're on the same side. It's better to be open about these things; it's not like it's some shameful secret."
Ren Tingting hesitated. "Who knows if you're plotting something in secret to kill me? After all, even though I haven't read many books, I know the saying: 'When a fellow countryman meets a fellow countryman, they get a knife to the face.'"
Qiu Xia shook his head. "Not all transmigrators are like that. Transmigrators are human too. After crossing over, a person's personality is determined by their hidden nature. Some change, some stay the same."
Seeing that the worry on her face hadn't faded, Qiu Xia rolled his eyes. "Are you an idiot? Leaving aside the fact that I have no intention of harming you... even if I did, we are both Maoshan disciples. This is a world with ghosts and gods. If I harmed you, the Ancestral Masters in the Underworld would know immediately. So, what are you afraid of?"
Hearing this, Ren Tingting's eyes brightened. That's right! This is a world of ghosts and gods! If Qiu Xia hurts me, the Ancestors will find out! Thank goodness... thank goodness this is a supernatural world.
Ren Tingting had transmigrated six months ago. She had been a student in the provincial capital, and after digesting the memories of the original body, her expression had changed instantly. How did a perfectly fine "otaku" girl end up in this terrible world? She didn't want to cross over! She wanted food delivery! She wanted crayfish! She missed modern delicacies, anime, and manga!
Despite her dissatisfaction with this "terrible" world, life had to go on. To live better in a world filled with ghosts and monsters, one had to know Daoist magic. Originally, she thought about begging Uncle Jiu to be her master, but after returning to Ren Family Town, she felt it was inappropriate. After all, Uncle Jiu was a manand a virgin at that.
After much thought, she realized that apprenticing under Uncle Jiu wasn't right. He was male, and he had those two "pit-tier" disciples who would surely buzz around her like annoying flies. So, how was she to learn Daoist arts? Then, she remembered Auntie Zhe. Auntie Zhe was Uncle Jiu's junior sister; she was a woman and highly skilled in exorcism. She was the perfect choice.
When Master Ren first found out his daughter wanted to practice Daoism with Auntie Zhe, he had refused. She was his only daughter, and he had hoped to find a live-in son-in-law to continue the Ren family line. How could he let her become a nun?
