They saw Kael's Seat at midday on the sixth day.
It sat where the highland broke down into the lower valley. A grey cluster of Guild stone on a rise, the survey towers above it, the old wall around it that no one had needed in thirty years. Smoke from the kitchens. A road with carts on it. People who were not survey, doing things that were not survey.
Two years ago Kai had walked out of that gate with four people and an order. He was walking back as something the order had not named.
He let Earth Depth Sense open as they came down the road. No cost, no descent. Just the passive read at ground-contact level.
