Chapter 2 - Arisen

"Wh-Where am I.."

I slowly sat up, blinking my eyes a few times like a frog. I felt hair stick to my face, mud and grime lathered on my clothing. My mind felt foggy, my memories a complete blur.

I attempted to sit up, arms shaking, desperately trying to support myself off the ground.

"Hnnghh..-"

I quickly gave up on it.

I lay there for a while. What time was it even? I could see the moon, atleast. My thoughts were still fuzzy, but atleast somewhat retainable. I was in some.. room, and.. that's it. I decided I should attempt to sit up.

Much to my delight, my strength came back, and I promptly sat up, then scrambled to my feet.

My current possessions included, some dark hued rags.. and thats about it. Fabulous. Couldn't those people in whatever room that was give me a little more?

Despite the, stark setback, I steeled whatever remnants of resolve I had left, walking in whatever direction pleased me most, and began walking.

My feet felt ached after sometime, the wet puddles, rough granite, and occasional nail made the journey unpleasent. Who would've guessed, the city is dogshit.

"Can't even have good flooring in this city… tch."

I mumbled to myself, the agitation of weariness taking ahold of me, the incessant aching of legs and feet not helping whatsoever. However, it was this or do nothing, and doing something is always better than doing nothing.

"Wonder if I missed the sweepers…" I'd speak to myself once more, trying to fill the hole of silence.

Continuing onwards, I stumbled upon a different building. It was rather large, and imposing, mych different than the gray coloured pallette everywhere else. Walls were freshly painted with a dark brown, a red sign flashing out front.

"HamHamPangPang" I spoke to myself, clicking my tongue in mild boredom.

After a moment of decision, I decided going inside and having a chance of being killed, was much better than being killed outside.

My footsteps were cautious, the interior was lit up, yet no one was inside.

"Looks like.. a restaurant." I thought.

I peeked behind the counter, bare feet going on their tip-toes, where my eyes immediately fixated upon the safe.

"Jackpot~"

I'd crawl over the counter, like a little critter, dirty hands immediately running themselves over the lock of the meta, safe. The safe was cold, obviously untouched in quite some time, yet the chill didn't put me off.

"Cmon…"

I continued my frantic work, tongue sticking out unconciously.

"Nearly..there..-"

I felt my heart in my mouth. My breathing immediately stopped, movements ceasing instantly. Heavy foosteps slowly stepped through the restaurant, the persons hob-nailed wake leaving imprints of the shoes dirt on the flooring.

"Oh no.. oh no oh no…" My mind raced, body still as ever, as if the tiniest sound would be my executioner.

"I know you're there." The voice called out, pitch low and slightly smooth.

"…"

"Well shit." I thought.
