Nayeon awoke the next morning to find numerous notifications from her Instagram. Everywhere online was buzzing with pictures of her and Dohyun together at the Bap restaurant yesterday. She was amazed that everything had gone viral so fast.
Her phone rang and she saw Minju on the line. She picked the call and Minju sounded worried.
"Nayeon," she began. "Are you sure this is a good idea? I don't think it's too late to back down now."
"Minju, don't worry about me." Nayeon assured her. "I'm doing this for you and Ariyana. The pay is a ton of money. We'll be living comfortably again in no time."
"Nayeon... I'm so sorry I couldn't help you out. Feel so useless."
"Don't say that, Minju. You're busy taking care of Ariyana."
"Thank you so much, Nayeon. For everything."
"You don't have to thank me, sis."
Nayeon hung up and at that exact moment, Dohyun knocked and came into the room. He was in casual stylish clothes which was unusual from the suits he always wore most of the time. There was a bright smile on his face and Nayeon found it odd for him to be looking so glad.
"Rise and shine, my fiancée." He said cheerfully. "Tonight is the dinner with my parents."
Nayeon yawned tiredly. She found it weird that he called her that.
"I'm aware of that," she said. "I wish we still had more time before the dinner."
"Since tonight you'll be meeting my parents as my fake fiancée, you will need to act your best more than ever. I don't want anything going wrong tonight."
"Don't worry. It will be alright."
"Before I can believe what you just said, my parents told me that Leah, along with her brother and parents will be there tonight."
Nayeon was shocked.
"What!?" She exclaimed. "Above all people, why her? And I had no idea she had a brother too."
Dohyun sighed.
"I did argue with my mom when she told me about them being invited but there was nothing I could do about it. She said that Leah's parents need to see the reason why I broke up with her."
"I see. So what now?"
"What happens now, is that I take you out for breakfast, and we go to different places until it's time for the dinner."
"Oh, cool! Can we go to an aquarium? I have always wanted to go there!"
"Of course. You need to get ready first."
After Dohyun left Nayeon's room she got dressed and they went to a nice restaurant for breakfast. Then they went to many other places after like the aquarium that Nayeon suggested and other nice places.
They had a splendid time. Especially at the aquarium together. Nayeon and Dohyun saw many interesting aquatic animals and that was where she learned that it was Dohyun's first time being at an aquarium too. They also ate some of the seafood there and left after Nayeon got food poisoning. She was eventually alright.
Nayeon couldn't help but feel nervous as evening approached. What if everything went wrong and she got disgraced? She couldn't shake that thought off her.
It was finally time for the dinner. Dohyun waited patiently for Nayeon to come downstairs after she was ready. Nayeon came to him majestically in a magenta gown with golden jewelry. Her hair was styled into a bun and she had natural makeup on with red lips. Dohyun looked mesmerised as she approached him.
"You look fabulous, Nayeon." He said in awe
Nayeon blushed.
"Thank you. You look amazing yourself." She said.
There was a sudden romantic silence between them as they looked into each other's eyes.
Dohyun broke the silence.
"Uhm, I think we should start going now." He said.
"Y-yes, of course." Nayeon went into the car and they drove off to the Lee's villa.
It was a luxurious modern style villa with a fountain in the centre of the yard gushing out with water. Trimmed bushed stood at the side and bright lights could be seen from the inside. Nayeon was wowed as a maid led them inside. Immediately, she saw Dohyun's parents approach them and she silently freaked out. Dohyun gave her a look that said she shouldn't panic and she calmed down.
"Welcome, my son." Mr Lee spoke.
"Good evening, mom and dad. It's good to see that you're doing alright. Especially you, mom." Dohyun said.
"Thank you, son." Mrs Lee said.
"Who is she?" Mr Lee asked.
Nayeon smiled at them warmly.
"Good evening, Mr and Mrs Lee." Nayeon began. "My name is Nari Na, and I am Dohyun's fiancée."
The Lee's looked at each other for a moment.
"Welcome, Miss Na." Mr Lee spoke. "You really are the woman that our son broke up with his ex-fiancée for."
"That's correct, Sir." Nayeon replied.
Mr and Mrs Lee looked at each other in concern.
"Alright," Mr Lee began. "Please come this way."
He then led them into the dining table where Leah, along with her parents and brother were seated. Nayeon and Dohyun took their seats and Leah shot her this nasty look. She had bandages on her body. "Oops..." Nayeon thought to herself when she sighted Leah.
Mr and Mrs Kim analysed Nayeon very well.
"So," Mrs Kim began. "You are Dohyun's new fiancée. What is your name, young lady?"
Nayeon calmed herself as she replied.
"My name is Nari Na." She replied.
"Quite an unusual name." Mrs Kim said. "How old are you?"
"I'm twenty-four." She replied.
"Well, I'm sure you've heard of our daughter, Leah." Mr Kim began. "She was supposed to be Dohyun's future wife, but that may be all in the past now."
"Yes..." Nayeon nervously agreed.
"This is our son, Byeol Kim. He is Leah's twin." Mr Kim introduced.
When Nayeon saw him, she instantly remembered who he was.
"Hello," he began. "I am Byeol Kim."
Byeol Kim was the biological father of Ariyana. Nayeon couldn't believe that he was right here with her. The soft looking boy with glasses on. And she also couldn't believe that he was Leah's twin brother! It appeared that Byeol didn't recognise her as Minju's sister.
"Nice to meet you." Nayeon said.
Leah scoffed.
"Why did Dohyun have to leave me for this red head? I don't understand it!" She yelled.
"Enough, Leah! You will not start a tantrum at the dinner table. Have some manners." Mr Kim scolded her.
Leah sat quietly while the Kims and Lees were busy interrogating Nayeon. Everything seemed to be going well. The chefs made an excellent five star meal for everyone. Leah didn't eat at all. She was too busy sulking and glaring at Nayeon.
After the dinner, Dohyun and Nayeon left. Nayeon got back to Dohyun's residence, she couldn't feel more relieved.
"Ah, had goodness all went well, today!" She exclaimed.
Dohyun smiled.
"Yes," he began. "Thank you, Nayeon."
"I'm just doing my job. No need to thank me."
Dohyun suddenly kissed her on the cheek and Nayeon blushed hard.
"No, thank you." He said. "I mean it, Nayeon."
Nayeon smiled and then they called it a night.
