Chapter 79: Shizune Wants Some Quiet
When Haruko returned to the inn, the atmosphere in the room remained peaceful.
Assuming one ignored Kaede and Anko, who were huddled together studying some strange magazine.
"You're back? Where have you been for so long?" Anko asked without looking up.
"Oh, just took a stroll around the casino; it was actually quite interesting."
Haruko replied casually, not mentioning the encounter with Tsunade.
Anko looked up and glared at Haruko: "Kid, you know about the Three Prohibitions for Ninja, right?"
"I'm as clear on them as you are, Anko-sensei."
"Tsk..." Anko clicked her tongue, having understood the subtext in Haruko's words. "Watch yourself. If you go too far, I'm not bailing you out."
Haruko did not mention encountering Tsunade.
If Anko knew Tsunade was nearby, who knows what kind of trouble she might stir up. If he were to report it, he would do it before returning to Konoha.
As for Kaede... if that woman knew Tsunade was here, she would probably be obsessed with how to invite the Ninja World's number one Medical Ninja back to "examine" Haruko.
Before he learned the skills, it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble.
...
The next day, Tsunade brought Haruko to the inn where she was staying temporarily.
"You say you know Medical Ninjutsu?"
"I've learned some basics." Haruko nodded.
"Then show me. Shizune, give him a fish."
Shizune responded and summoned a half-dead fish from a scroll.
Haruko didn't waste any words; he raised his hand and patted the fish, and in a short while, the fish regained its vitality and was flopping around on the table.
"Not bad, the foundation is very solid," Tsunade nodded with satisfaction. "Your Chakra control is very stable, and the healing effect is also very good."
"— However, a Medical Ninja must also have the corresponding knowledge."
She began to explain the principles of Medical Ninjutsu—how to identify various injuries, the functioning of human meridians, and the principles of cell division and regeneration.
Haruko listened very attentively, occasionally asking some questions.
When Tsunade tentatively threw out some profound theories, Haruko could not only keep up but even put forward some unheard-of insights.
Even though Haruko only had a high school level of knowledge and only knew some superficial theories, modern biology and chemistry were advanced enough for the current era.
Tsunade even felt that she wasn't teaching a student, but rather exchanging academic ideas with another peer.
"Could it be that being a Genin is just your side job, and your main profession is actually a researcher at some medical institution?"
Haruko shook his head: "I am merely standing on the shoulders of giants."
Tsunade nodded as if she had understood something on her own, and Haruko didn't intend to correct her, letting her imagine whatever she wanted.
The subsequent teaching speeded up significantly.
From basic Medical Ninjutsu to the theoretical explanation of the Mystical Palm Technique, and then to practical application—Tsunade forcibly condensed content that usually took weeks or even months to teach into a single morning.
Shizune watched from the side, dumbfounded.
"Lady Tsunade, is this really okay?"
"No problem. This kid's Chakra control is already at the Jonin level, and he doesn't lack theoretical knowledge; he just lacks practice."
Tsunade waved her hand and continued to demonstrate the techniques of the Mystical Palm Technique to Haruko.
"Watch closely, the key to the Mystical Palm Technique lies in..."
When the sun slanted to the west, Shizune had completely shut herself off, crouching in the corner drawing circles.
"A monster..."
Just now, Haruko had mastered the rudiments of the "Mystical Palm Technique" in just one day.
Although it wasn't enough to treat serious injuries in actual combat yet, it was more than enough to handle general skin abrasions.
How long did it take her to reach this level? Two months, it seemed?
"Um... Shizune-senpai?"
Shizune was still immersed in her own world, her eyes unfocused, muttering vaguely:
"People's constitutions cannot be generalized... I once worked very hard, too..."
"Shizune-senpai, Lady Tsunade has already left." Haruko gave a light cough to remind her.
Shizune came back to her senses and realized that there were indeed only the two of them left in the room.
She didn't rush to chase after Tsunade, but instead looked at Haruko with a complex expression: "How did you do it?"
Shizune stepped forward and grabbed Haruko's shoulders, shaking him back and forth: "One day! Only one day! The Mystical Palm Technique is an A-rank Ninjutsu! It's an advanced Ninjutsu that even some medical Jonin might not know!"
She felt her worldview had shattered into pieces.
It was like a famous school that she had studied hard for three years to get into, while the neighbor's kid just flipped through a book for two days, eating a lollipop while saying "Is this question hard?", and then immediately got recommended for admission.
Haruko scratched his head, looking innocent: "Maybe my foundation is just better? And Shizune-senpai, you taught it very thoroughly. If you hadn't been there to supplement those detailed points, I definitely wouldn't have picked it up so quickly."
"...Are you trying to comfort me or anger me?"
Shizune's mouth twitched.
This must be that legendary "flexing," right?
This absolutely is!
She took a deep breath, let go of Haruko, turned around, and with heavy footsteps, crouched back into that dark corner.
"Don't mind me... I want some peace and quiet..."
...
Another day passed, on the wasteland outside Tanzaku Town.
"Let me see your actual combat ability. After all, Medical Ninjas are the primary targets for enemies on the battlefield."
Tsunade took off her coat, revealing her stunning figure underneath.
"Come on, attack me. Use your most proficient method, don't hold back."
Haruko sighed; he had originally planned to just sit at a desk for three days, but it seemed he couldn't escape this ordeal after all.
He was very clear about Tsunade's fighting style—close-quarters combat, unparalleled monstrous strength.
The best strategy was to keep his distance and suppress her with Ninjutsu.
Haruko retreated while forming hand seals.
"Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique."
It was still a Fire Release suppression opener, but this time the opponent was one of the legendary Sannin.
Tsunade didn't dodge or evade; she kicked directly at the ground.
Boom—
A large chunk of the ground was kicked up, turning into gravel filling the sky.
'You can do that?!"
The gravel swallowed Haruko's Fire Release and still didn't lose momentum, whistling towards Haruko like buckshot.
Haruko had to give up on the Mizuame-no-Hara he was preparing to deal with it.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Palm."
An improved version of the Hyuga Clan's Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm, the non-hand-seal Wind Release shockwave blew away the gravel in front of Haruko and headed straight for Tsunade, who was sprinting right behind—
Then it was casually dispersed by a punch from her, failing to even slightly delay her pace.
'It's simply like facing a tank, while I only have a water pistol in my hand."
Realizing that none of his Ninjutsu could stop her, Haruko had to change his approach.
"Earth Release: Earth House."
He retreated while forming hand seals, and layers of earth walls rose up, blocking the path between Haruko and Tsunade.
Of course, Haruko never expected this level of earth wall to be able to hold Tsunade back.
And just as he expected, the thin earth walls were like paper, smashed through directly by Tsunade—
But there was no sign of Haruko behind them.
Looking around, one earth wall after another kept rising, obscuring her vision and surrounding Tsunade in the middle like a maze.
"Heh, a smoke screen? You've got some clever tricks, kid."
Tsunade revealed a satisfied smile.
"Then I'll get a little serious too."
