Ray let out a long yawn as he stretched beneath the sheets, his arms reaching above his head while the last traces of sleep gradually disappeared from his mind.
Sunlight was already streaming through the narrow window of his private room, illuminating the polished furniture and making it painfully obvious that he'd slept considerably later than usual.
He remained in bed for another moment, enjoying the warmth of the sheets while listening to the familiar sounds of the Black Orchid going about its daily business.
Footsteps occasionally passed through the corridor outside, servants could be heard exchanging instructions somewhere nearby, and the distant rumble of carriage wheels drifted up from the courtyard below.
Judging by the amount of sunlight entering his room, breakfast was probably already over.
"Looks like I slept in," Ray muttered, rubbing his face before finally pushing himself upright.
