Chapter 56 - Ch 56- White Whale

Carlisle's figure darted through the dense fog. His superhuman physique allowed him to run at speeds comparable to a speeding car. He had already been deep within the fog for nearly an hour, and the damp air clinging to his skin gave him a strange sensation. The fog was mixed with faint water-attributed Mana.

Something is wrong…

Suddenly, the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, and he abruptly came to a halt. It was the instinctive warning of a warrior tempered through countless battles.

That thing was nearby.

Carlisle drew his longsword.

"Whoosh!"

A deafening whale cry erupted from behind him. Carlisle reacted with astonishing reflexes, spinning around and striking instantly. The sharp sword energy tore through the dense fog, revealing the terrifying sight hidden within it.

A giant yellow eyeball, easily a meter wide, stared directly at him through the mist.

"Pfft!"

The sword energy struck the eyeball precisely, and the wet splattering sound was gruesome. The White Whale released a heart-wrenching scream. The sound waves swept over him like a physical force, causing Carlisle's eardrums to ache.

Enduring the discomfort, he raised his left hand as Mana rapidly gathered in his palm.

"Al Goa!"

In an instant, the fog within hundreds of meters was blasted away by scorching light. A massive fireball dozens of meters in diameter descended like a miniature falling sun, rushing toward the White Whale with devastating power.

"Boom!"

The thunderous explosion shook the heavens. The scorching shockwave instantly vaporized the surrounding fog within a hundred-meter radius. The White Whale let out a painful cry as its massive body crashed onto the ground like a collapsing mountain, kicking up a towering wave of dust.

When the smoke and dust finally cleared, Carlisle was able to see the complete form of this legendary magical beast.

"So this is the White Whale of Fog..."

His pupils contracted sharply and the hand gripping his sword tightened unconsciously.

The creature before him completely overturned his understanding of what a living being should be. It was not a magical beast in the ordinary sense. It was a living mountain. Even while lying on the ground, its height rivaled that of a large building, and its massive body stretched far toward the horizon.

Its pale white skin was covered with countless densely packed exhaust vents that constantly expelled thick fog with every breath. Tens of thousands of steel needle-like white hairs gleamed with a metallic sheen under the firelight.

The most horrifying part was the damage.

The spell Al Goa, powerful enough to destroy city walls, had only left a scorched mark on its body. It looked no more significant than a candle burn on human skin.

A strange pink halo floated above the White Whale's head. Its sacred glow formed an unsettling contrast with its twisted and monstrous form.

As the massive head slowly rose, a head comparable to a small fortress, Carlisle finally understood the true meaning of the phrase Witch's Creation.

Carlisle gripped his sword with both hands and raised it above his head. The blade suddenly burst forth with brilliant white light.

A terrifying pressure exploded from his body, instantly sweeping away the fog within hundreds of meters and forming a vast empty space. Violent winds spiraled around him, lifting stones and grass into the air like a miniature storm.

"Wooooo!"

The White Whale released an eerie howl unlike anything before. Its enormous body twisted violently as tens of thousands of vents simultaneously spewed thick white fog, instantly covering half the sky.

Carlisle's pupils shrank.

Without waiting for the charge to finish, he decisively brought his sword down.

"Rumble!"

The dazzling white light transformed into a towering torrent of energy that stretched between heaven and earth. Wherever it passed, the ground shattered and the air itself warped.

A deafening explosion followed.

The entire plain trembled as blinding white light and swirling fog collided violently, forming a chaotic vortex.

Carlisle swung his sword again, cutting through the thick fog. However, the sight before him caused his heart to jolt.

The enormous body of the White Whale had disappeared completely.

Even stranger were the marks on the ground.

Starting from Carlisle's position, the grass ahead had been completely vaporized, exposing scorched earth. Yet the path of destruction abruptly stopped at a certain point, as if something had cleanly severed it.

The break was unnaturally smooth, as though an invisible barrier had swallowed his attack.

"What kind of ability is this?"

Cold sweat slid down Carlisle's palms. He had never encountered any ancient record that mentioned the White Whale possessing spatial abilities.

Suddenly, the strange cries of the White Whale echoed from all directions.

It was no longer a long whale call. Instead, it sounded like the hoarse crying of thousands of babies at once. The sharp sound waves pierced his ears like countless needles.

A chill ran down Carlisle's spine.

A mental attack?

He immediately steadied his mind.

This level of interference was nothing more than a gentle breeze to him.

Mirror's Protection.

This was one of the many divine protections granted to Carlisle, allowing him to resist most forms of mental damage.

The air behind him suddenly distorted.

Behind him!

Carlisle turned with lightning speed, but the White Whale's mountainous head had already arrived. He instinctively raised his sword to block.

The blade collided violently with the head covered in rigid white hair, producing a deafening metallic clash.

The immense impact launched Carlisle high into the sky along with the White Whale. Wind roared past his ears as he endured the numbness spreading through his arm and quickly formed a hand seal in mid-air.

"Al Huma!"

In an instant, thousands of ice spikes formed in the air, each gleaming with deadly frost.

As he pressed his palm downward, the ice spikes rained down like a violent storm.

"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!"

A continuous barrage of piercing sounds echoed through the sky. The White Whale's enormous body was instantly riddled with countless ice spikes.

The giant beast released a painful howl as it twisted violently and flung Carlisle away.

Carlisle rapidly plummeted from dozens of meters above the ground. He immediately stretched out his hand.

"El Murak!"

A cushioning field created by gravity magic instantly enveloped his body, drastically slowing his descent. He landed lightly on the ground like a falling feather.

However, his breathing had grown noticeably heavier.

Casting large-scale magic repeatedly and enduring that level of impact would exhaust anyone.

But he had not yet reached his limit.

Carlisle took a deep breath and raised his sword once more. The blade erupted with an even brighter white light than before, like a miniature sun forming within his hand.

He poured Mana into the sword with all his strength. The pillar of light shot straight into the sky, illuminating the night as though it were daytime.

The sword vibrated intensely. The condensed white light gathered into a dazzling point at the tip of the blade.

Just as the charging process finished, the sky suddenly darkened.

The White Whale descended from the clouds. Its massive body plunged downward, and the pressure of the wind forced the ground beneath Carlisle to sink inward.

The monstrous roar threatened to rupture his eardrums.

Carlisle remained completely unmoved.

"Vanish!"

He unleashed the decisive sword strike.

The white light transformed into a torrent that spanned heaven and earth, leaving the White Whale with nowhere to escape. Wherever the light passed, even the air itself was vaporized.

"Woooooaaaaa!"

The White Whale released a horrific cry of agony.

Carlisle watched as the enormous body of the creature disintegrated piece by piece within the pure white light. First the white fur vanished, then the thick layers of fat, and finally even its bones were reduced to nothingness.

When the light finally faded, there was no longer any trace of the White Whale in the sky.

Only scattered particles of Mana drifted downward like falling snow.

"It's... over..."

Carlisle dropped to one knee. His longsword pierced deeply into the ground as he used it to support his body.

This final attack had consumed nearly half of his Mana, and every breath he took carried a burning pain.

"Wait... no. Why hasn't the fog disappeared?"

Suddenly, a massive shadow engulfed him.

Carlisle slowly lifted his head.

The sight before him froze the blood in his veins.

"How is this possible..."

His voice trembled.

"Two White Whales?"
