Chapter 33 - “Some Things Never Change”

The stage lights had already faded.

The crowd noise was still echoing in the distance—like a memory that didn't want to leave yet.

But inside the dorm—

Everything was quiet.

For about three seconds.

Then Emma spoke.

"…I'm never doing a comeback again."

Ella, still taking off her shoes near the couch, didn't even look up.

"…You say that after every comeback."

Emma flopped face-first onto the sofa.

"…This time I mean it."

From the kitchen, Elia's calm voice followed instantly.

"…You said that last time too."

Emma lifted her head slightly.

"…Why do you both remember everything I say?"

"Because it's usually wrong," Elia replied.

That did it.

Ella laughed.

Emma groaned dramatically and buried her face in a cushion again.

"…I hate all of you."

Silence for a second.

Then—

Ella gently placed a bottle of water on the table.

"…You're tired."

Emma muttered into the cushion.

"…I am emotionally deceased."

Elia walked into the living room, sitting down opposite them.

Still composed.

Still too calm for someone who had just performed on a massive stage.

"Drink," she said.

Emma peeked.

"…Is that an order?"

"Yes."

Emma sat up slowly.

"…You're bossy after concerts."

"Yes."

Ella smiled softly, curling up beside Emma.

"…She's always bossy."

"True," Emma admitted.

Then immediately pointed.

"…But you love it."

Ella didn't deny it.

That was suspicious in itself.

Emma narrowed her eyes.

"…Okay, something's wrong."

Elia didn't react.

Just took a sip of her water.

Emma sat up straighter.

"…Why are you both so calm?"

Ella blinked.

"…We're always calm."

Emma pointed between them.

"…No you're not. You're planning something."

Silence.

Elia slowly placed her bottle down.

"…You're imagining things."

Emma gasped.

"That's what people say when they're guilty."

Ella laughed softly.

"…Emma, relax."

"NO."

Emma stood up.

"Last time you said 'relax' I ended up on stage doing a surprise speech I didn't rehearse."

Elia nodded.

"…That was necessary."

"IT WAS NOT NECESSARY."

A knock at the door.

Emma froze instantly.

"…If that's another surprise I'm leaving the country."

Ella stood up, amused.

"…You say that like you have a passport ready."

Emma paused.

"…I do."

Elia walked toward the door calmly.

"Stay here."

Emma pointed.

"That's what villains say."

Elia opened the door.

Felix stood outside.

Holding a small paper bag.

Looking way too calm for someone standing in front of chaos.

Emma instantly relaxed.

Then immediately became suspicious again.

"…Why are you here?"

Felix stepped inside.

"Because I was invited."

Emma turned to Ella.

"…You invited him."

Ella shrugged.

"…Maybe."

Emma stared at both of them.

"…This is a group conspiracy."

Elia closed the door behind him.

"Don't start."

Felix placed the bag on the table.

"Food."

Emma narrowed her eyes.

"…Is it poisoned?"

Felix blinked.

"…No."

"That's exactly what someone would say if it was poisoned."

Ella laughed.

"Emma, eat."

Emma pointed at the food.

"…I'm being targeted."

Elia calmly opened the bag.

Took a look.

"…It's fine."

Emma gasped.

"…You TRUST him??"

Elia looked at her.

"Yes."

Emma looked betrayed.

"…I don't."

Felix sat down casually.

"That's fair."

Emma squinted at him.

"Why are you so relaxed in my home?"

Felix leaned back slightly.

"Because I've survived worse."

Ella laughed louder this time.

Emma pointed at him again.

"…That sounds like a threat."

"…It wasn't."

Elia handed Emma food.

"Eat."

Emma accepted it reluctantly.

"…I feel like I'm being managed."

"Yes," Elia said.

Emma blinked.

"…At least you're honest."

The four of them eventually settled in the living room.

Food everywhere.

Shoes kicked off.

Phones ignored.

The kind of tired that only comes after a stage like that.

Emma stretched her legs over the couch.

"…Okay, serious question."

Ella sighed softly.

"That never means serious question."

Emma ignored her.

"…Do you think we were better today or last concert?"

Silence.

Felix thought for a second.

"Today."

Emma pointed immediately.

"Correct answer."

Elia added,

"Last one was tighter technically."

Emma groaned.

"Why do you always turn fun into a review?"

Ella smiled.

"Because she's Elia."

Emma leaned back.

"…True."

A comfortable silence followed.

For about five seconds.

Then Emma suddenly sat up again.

"Okay wait."

Ella groaned.

"Here we go."

Emma pointed at Felix.

"How did you survive our fans today?"

Felix shrugged.

"By standing behind you."

Emma nodded seriously.

"Smart strategy."

Elia added,

"Also because no one noticed him much."

Felix nodded.

"Also helpful."

Emma squinted.

"That won't last."

Felix accepted it calmly.

"Probably not."

Ella smiled softly.

"…You're very calm about all this."

Felix looked at her.

"Someone has to be."

Emma leaned closer.

"Are you calling us chaotic?"

Felix paused.

"…Yes."

Emma gasped.

"Elia, he insulted us."

Elia didn't even look up.

"Accurate statement."

Emma collapsed back onto the couch again.

"Traitors. All of you."

Later, the lights were dim.

The chaos had slowly turned into exhaustion.

Everyone scattered in different positions around the living room.

Half asleep.

Half aware.

Emma was the only one still slightly awake.

She stared at the ceiling.

"…We did a lot, didn't we?"

Ella hummed softly.

"Yeah."

Elia closed her eyes briefly.

"…We did well."

Felix sat quietly for a moment.

Then added,

"…You did more than well."

Emma turned her head slightly.

"That sounded emotional."

"Don't ruin it," Ella whispered.

Emma smiled faintly.

"…Too late."

Silence returned.

Not awkward.

Not heavy.

Just—

Peaceful.

Emma shifted slightly.

"…Okay but I'm still not doing another comeback for a while."

Elia responded instantly.

"Yes you are."

Emma sighed.

"…Why are you like this."

Ella laughed softly.

"Because she's right."

Emma pointed at both of them.

"…You're both against me."

Felix added quietly,

"Technically… I agree with them."

Emma stared.

"…I am surrounded."

Elia finally opened her eyes.

"Correct."

And somehow—

That made Emma laugh.

Real laughter.

Tired laughter.

The kind that doesn't need a reason.

"…Okay fine," Emma said.

"Maybe I'll do another one."

Ella smiled.

"See? Growth."

Emma groaned.

"Don't make it inspirational."

Felix stood up slowly.

"…I should go."

Emma sat up slightly.

"Already?"

He nodded.

"Let you rest."

Ella stood too.

"Thanks for coming."

Elia gave a small nod.

"Lock the door properly."

Emma waved lazily.

"Bye, chaos survivor."

Felix paused at the door.

Looked back once.

"Good work today."

Emma smiled softly.

"…Yeah. We were kind of amazing."

Elia added immediately,

"Not kind of."

Emma groaned again.

And then Felix left.

The door closed.

Silence stayed.

But it wasn't empty.

It was full.

Emma lay back down again.

"…We're actually okay, huh?"

Ella nodded.

"Yeah."

Elia answered softly.

"More than okay."

Emma smiled at the ceiling.

"…We should probably do this again."

Ella laughed.

"Do what?"

Emma gestured vaguely.

"…Everything."

Elia closed her eyes again.

"Unfortunately… yes."

Emma sighed happily.

"…Cool."

And for the first time in a long time—

No one argued.

No one rushed.

No one worried.

Just three girls.

A quiet room.

A world outside still cheering for them.

And a life that, somehow—

had become exactly what they built it to be.

Emma closed her eyes.

"…Don't wake me up tomorrow."

Elia responded instantly.

"Impossible."

Ella smiled.

"Goodnight, Emma."

Emma muttered,

"…Goodnight, chaos."

And for once—

Even chaos felt like home.

"And somehow, in all the chaos… this was exactly where they were meant to be."
