As a Pokémon Ash had kept by his side from the moment she was an egg until she hatched and grew up, Chansey's affection for him had long since broken any limits. In her eyes, Ash was her parent.
As for why she had refused to evolve despite having maxed out her friendship? In Ash's eyes, it was just Chansey's little rebellious phase. Much like how human children sometimes harbor the desire to never grow up, Chansey's reluctance to evolve was likely because she just wanted to be spoiled a little longer.
But now, praised so earnestly by Ash, her little rebellious phase finally ended. Just as Ash said—she had grown up.
When the evolution finished, Blissey's first action was to tackle Ash in a massive hug. Ash stroked her head and laughed, "See? Even after evolving, nothing has really changed, has it? To me, you'll always be the kid I raised from an egg."
"Happy!" (I love Papa Ash the most!)
Watching Ash and Blissey, Jessie couldn't help but smile softly. There was a secret she hadn't shared: she once dreamed of becoming a nurse, though she eventually gave up on it. Her best friend back then had been a Chansey.
Earlier, when she saw Chansey step out to defend the hospital, Jessie felt an inexplicable urge to prevent her from getting hurt. Even though she knew Ash's Chansey was immensely powerful, she just couldn't bear to let her face danger alone.
"Thank you so much for your assistance. Without you, we would have been delayed for a very long time."
After resting for the night at the Continental Hotel, Ash and the group were preparing to leave. Before they departed, Dr. Proctor brought out all the Pokémon Ash's team had treated to see them off.
"Cubone!" A Cubone shyly handed a small flower to Misty, who smiled and accepted it gracefully. "Thank you, Cubone."
It wasn't just Misty; Lara received a berry from a Weepinbell, Brock received collected tree sap from a Pinsir, and Suzie received a piece of ore from a Rhyhorn. The gifts were odd, but they were the purest tokens of the Pokémon's gratitude.
"Nido!" The Nidoking Ash had operated on handed him a Moon Stone. Even though Ash had already bought a stockpile of Moon Stones just in case, he accepted the gift with a bright smile.
"Thanks."
"Nido!" Seeing Ash accept his gift, Nidoking nodded happily.
Dr. Proctor watched the scene with a grin. "It looks like you all have the perfect disposition to be doctors. To earn such gratitude from Pokémon... how about it? Want to join me in the medical field?"
"We'll pass!" Ash knew Dr. Proctor meant well, but he rejected the offer. Everyone had their own goals to pursue, and becoming a full-time doctor required far too much study.
"What a pity, but I suppose I can't force you. In that case, I wish you a pleasant journey! Oh, and Ash, the annual Medical Conference will be starting soon. Don't forget to attend. Everyone is dying to chat with 'Black Jack' about the finer details of your surgical techniques!"
"Ugh... spare me." Finally, amidst Dr. Proctor's teasing, Ash and the group hit the road.
Once Ash's group was out of sight, Team Rocket secretly established communication with Giovanni.
"Boss, it looks like Vicious set us up... He seems to be colluding with the Hunter organization."
Hearing Meowth's report, Giovanni didn't sound surprised. He replied calmly, "I am aware. For now, act as if nothing has happened. We won't make a move against Vicious just yet, but you need to keep your guard up around him. From the looks of it, he has already betrayed the organization."
"Yes, sir!"
"Oh, right, Boss, we discovered an incredibly powerful Pokémon over here!"
"Hm?" Just as Giovanni was about to cut the transmission, Meowth's words paused him. Meowth pointed in the direction Ash's group had left. "The twerp has this terrifying Bewear! We have no idea how she got so strong. She knows Extremespeed and literal martial arts... and the scariest part is her attack power. She knocked out an Aerodactyl in a single hit!"
"...I know the one you're talking about... She is indeed strong... Let's leave it at that."
Giovanni honestly didn't know what to say about Ash's Momma Bewear. When Ash first introduced her to him, he hadn't thought much of it. But after truly witnessing the ridiculous abilities that Bewear possessed, Giovanni admitted he was deeply rattled.
What the hell kind of Bewear was that?! Using leaves as wings! Running on water! If someone told Giovanni it was a Legendary Pokémon in disguise, he'd believe them!
So that's how it is. The one who defeated the Aerodactyl was Ash's Bewear... No wonder the battle ended so quickly. But still, isn't her combat power a bit too horrifying?
Just recalling Bewear's fighting prowess made even Giovanni shudder. That bear's abilities were just too freakish. So freakish that he wouldn't dare provoke her lightly. While Giovanni had his own trump cards, he had a gut feeling that the bear was definitely hiding even more unrevealed power. Definitely.
Meanwhile, a certain Bewear cast a thoughtful glance in Team Rocket's direction before continuing to walk alongside Ash and the others. It seemed she was plotting something.
"Momma Bewear, what's wrong?" Seeing Bewear deep in thought, Ash found it slightly odd. Bewear shook her head and pointed forward.
"Bewear!" (Nothing, let's keep traveling.)
"She said it's nothing, let's keep moving, Boss. And Blissey! You've evolved, stop clinging to the Boss like a baby, meow! Why does it feel like you act more like a kid the more you evolve?"
Meowth looked exasperated at how clingy Blissey had become post-evolution. Blissey, however, didn't hesitate to retort, "Happy!" (I'm still a baby! So it's totally fine!)
"What kind of baby is that huge?!"
Smack!
With a resounding slap from Blissey, her and Meowth's daily "war" commenced once again.
