"Is this thing the mushroom that constantly drains Parasect's nutrients?"
Suzie looked at the massive mushroom Meowth was holding, finding it hard to believe it was so terrifying. Ash looked warily at it and said, "Exactly. Unbelievable as it sounds, it's the truth. I think it being called 'Cordyceps' means that once this bug becomes Parasect, it's actually the mushroom in control..."
Hearing Ash say this, everyone looked at the giant mushroom with a shudder. Cassandra took it from Meowth and said, "But now that I have this mushroom, I can make even better medicine. I suppose this is a good ending..."
"Yeah... it's already the best possible outcome."
At night, Ash and Cassandra were in the herb fields collecting herbs together.
Ash looked at Cassandra, whose face was covered in dirt, and couldn't help but say, "Cassandra... I'm just saying, you should leave this kind of work to the Continental Hotel staff from now on. You're going to be my wife, after all..."
"It's fine. I only feel at ease when I pick the herbs with my own hands. Some of them have to be harvested at specific times."
Saying that, Cassandra wiped the sweat from her forehead, but that only made her face dirtier. Seeing this, Ash had to personally use his clothes to wipe her face.
"Honestly... besides anything related to herbs, you really need a lot of looking after..."
"Alright, you make me sound like a little kid. But Ash, all the girls who came with you today are your..."
"Yeah, fiancées."
"That's so nice..."
Thinking of the rings on Misty and the others' hands, Cassandra felt a bit envious. Seeing her envious expression, Ash took a box out of his pocket.
"I didn't prepare a ring for you. What I prepared is..."
As he spoke, Ash opened the box. Just as he said, it wasn't a ring, but it made Cassandra even more emotional. Inside the box was a beautiful bracelet.
"If I dared to propose with a ring, the Granny would definitely put bitter roots in my food... So, may I put this on you?"
Cassandra covered her mouth, not knowing what to say. Finally, she nodded silently and murmured, "Mhm!"
"Then... thank you, Cassandra..."
Placing the bracelet on her wrist, their relationship was officially settled.
Meanwhile, watching secretly from a distance, Team Rocket's Meowth was crying his eyes out. It was absolutely devastating!
James, full of admiration, said to Jessie, "It's exactly as you said! The twerp really throws straight fastballs!"
"Hmph, I'm quite confident when it comes to this kind of thing. But it really is nice, doing things you love with the boy you like. You can't help but envy such pure feelings..."
Jessie was genuinely a bit jealous of the girls beside Ash. Even though Ash was definitely a playboy, at least he took responsibility!
"Waaaaaahhhhh! How are you two in the mood to talk about this?! Waaaahhh!"
Hearing Jessie and James, Meowth cried even harder. He had just gone through a breakup, and these two were talking about how well-matched the couple was!
Jessie patted Meowth's head and said, "Alright, alright. I told you to give up a long time ago but you didn't listen. Now you've had to watch PDA all day. That girl hasn't let go of the twerp's arm since."
"Waaaaaaahhhh!"
Actually, there was someone else in a similar state to Team Rocket:
"Gardevoir!!" (So jealous! So jealous! I'm so incredibly jealous!)
Yeah, Gardevoir was always highly invested in Ash's activities. However, this investment just meant that Ash was constantly being stalked by a Pokémon that was hopelessly in love with him.
And out of pure frustration, Gardevoir aimed her annoyance at Team Rocket, who were still peeping, and fired off a Confusion attack.
"Ah! Why can't I move?!" Jessie suddenly realized she was paralyzed and quickly asked James next to her, who was also stuck.
"Me neither! Meowth, what about you?"
"Waaaaaaahhhh!" The only response James got was Meowth, who was still bawling his eyes out even though he couldn't move.
"Gardevoir!" (All of you, blast off!)
With Gardevoir's Confusion activated, Team Rocket became the brightest star in the sky!
"We're blasting off again!!"
"Waaaaahh! My first love!!"
Hearing Team Rocket's voices, Ash and Cassandra—who were essentially engaged now and continuing to pick herbs—looked up at the sky.
Ash said helplessly, "Yeah, they just never learn..."
"They?" Since Cassandra had only helped Meowth make some fever medicine before, she didn't know much about Team Rocket.
"It's nothing, just a bunch of amusing folks."
Ash didn't actually hate Jessie, James, and Meowth. Calling them bad guys? They weren't completely evil. Calling them good guys? Not really possible either. But it was exactly this that made them interesting.
"Never mind, let's hurry up and pick the herbs, otherwise the optimal time for harvesting them will pass."
"Mhm, you're right. But I really didn't expect that even after becoming a big boss, you'd still be so good at picking herbs, Ash."
"Heh heh, this is a basic life skill. How could I forget it?"
And so, Ash and Cassandra finished picking herbs late into the night. Lara and the others had already gone to sleep at Ash's reminder. The only one still outside was the Granny.
"I say, Granny, at your age, you shouldn't be staying outside so late..."
Seeing Ash say this, the granny smiled and shook her head.
"Hehe, I still have some energy left. Don't underestimate an old woman. But it looks like you've already made your move, kid." Seeing the bracelet on Cassandra's wrist, the granny nodded in satisfaction. It seemed she wouldn't need to put bitter roots in his food tomorrow.
"I'm not a hypocrite, Granny! I'm definitely marrying Cassandra!"
"You say that as if I'd try to stop you. Alright, alright, I won't interfere in you youngsters' business. But remember one thing: no kids until after you're married, understand?"
"Yes!"
When Ash and Cassandra realized what she said, Cassandra flushed beet red and yelled, "Granny! What are you saying?!"
"Hehe, just making a joke. Alright, just be careful yourselves. Go to bed now, you've worked hard picking herbs."
Even knowing the granny didn't mean anything else by it, Cassandra still blushed. Ash, on the other hand, was different. Having already had sex, he wasn't afraid of a little teasing anymore.
The next day, after finishing breakfast, Ash and the gang had to continue their journey.
"Take care of your health... If anyone tries to take advantage of you, beat the shit out of them. My people will be keeping an eye out too."
Ash gave Cassandra his final reminders before leaving. Cassandra smiled and said, "No problem. You can trust my martial arts."
"Yeah!"
"Cassandra, Granny, take care of yourselves!"
"Don't worry, you too, Misty. Goodbye then."
"Goodbye!"
After they left, Brock asked Ash with intense fervor, "Ash! Do you have the Southern Islands in your travel plans?"
"Huh? The Southern Islands? Yeah. Even though the Orange League Cup there is a bit watered down, since we're traveling, we might as well go have a good brawl!"
Hearing Ash say this and remembering Granny's prophecy, Brock said excitedly, "Lord Ash! My life's happiness depends on you!"
"Huh?"
