Ultimately, the battle at the Celadon Gym was left unresolved due to Team Rocket's interference. Everyone could tell that Ash's Bulbasaur alone could sweep Erika's entire team, not to mention he still had a Kirlia that countered Poison-types waiting in the back.
"This is your Rainbow Badge."
"Thanks."
After taking the Rainbow Badge from Erika, Ash pulled out a bank card and said, "The loss of that bottle of extract is partly my responsibility, so consider it bought by me."
"No need, it's not necessary."
"No, this is a matter of principle. Anyway, we should probably go pick up Brock now."
Thinking about Brock happily 'playing' with the Machokes and Machamps in the prison, Ash felt it was about time to pick him up, lest he get played to death.
"Alright, then I won't be polite. If you need any specific flowers, remember to let me know."
"Absolutely. Oh, right! If you have time, could you go somewhere for me? There's a girl named Florinda there helping me grow a certain material. If possible, I'd like to ask you to help plant some too."
"Okay, goodbye then, Ash."
"Goodbye. Call me if anything comes up."
"Goodbye, Miss Erika."
"Goodbye, Misty."
Watching Ash and Misty leave, Erika smiled. The Gloom beside her cried out in confusion, "Gloom! Gloom!"
"Don't worry, Gloom. It's not time yet, but one day..."
"Gloom, Gloom!"
"He's probably forgotten by now..."
Erika's memories drifted back to her childhood, to the first time she met Gloom. Gloom had helped drive away a Grimer. But Grimer had ended up encountering a young boy...
"Whoa, this smell... Grimer, are you hungry?"
"Grimer!"
"Boss... he looks like he's really hungry."
"Then let's share some cake with him. Here, eat up. But personally, I suggest you go to another city. Celadon City has too many perfumes; it doesn't suit you."
Grimer stared blankly at the cake Ash handed to it. This was the first time anyone had ever given it food.
"Gri..."
"Don't be shy, eat up. But don't go scaring people next time. I'll tell you about a place where you should be able to find a nice living environment. It's practically a designated industrial zone for the League."
"Grimer!"
Finally, with Ash's recommendation, the Grimer left carrying the cake. Ash then looked over at Erika and said, "This place really isn't suitable for Grimers. Well then, goodbye."
When Ash and Misty arrived at the police station and bailed Brock out, he was finally freed from the loving embraces of the Machokes and Machamps.
"Brock, do you have any thoughts on what happened today?"
"The police station is too scary! Women are the best..."
Misty helplessly clutched her head and said, "Sure enough, he hasn't reflected on his actions at all."
Brock then looked at Officer Jenny and said, "Officer Jenny, I'm so sorry for causing you trouble. Please allow me to treat you to a meal..."
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt."
"Pikachuuuuu!!!"
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
Accompanied by a powerful electric shock, Brock was fried to a crisp. Ash, completely deadpan, said to Misty, "If I didn't do that, Brock would have been charged with assaulting an officer."
"Good job, Ash!" Misty completely supported Ash's actions!
Officer Jenny, pretending not to notice Pikachu electrocuting Brock, smiled at Ash and said, "Ash, you guys are heading to HopHopHop Town next. If possible, please help my cousin out. There have been cases of missing children there recently, and the Pokémon have been incredibly lethargic too."
"Missing children and lethargic Pokémon? Understood, I'll help out."
"Thanks a lot!"
Saying that, Officer Jenny planted a kiss on Ash's cheek.
"Mm, it's no problem. But if possible, Officer Jenny, I might need you guys to make some preparations."
"Preparations?"
"That's right. After all... I have a feeling there's a much bigger conspiracy behind this."
