Chapter 46 - Unnamed

Let's escalate this properly—Victor doesn't just walk away.

He hits Luciano where it hurts differently: power, money, reputation… and indirectly, Sophia. 😈🔥

🖤 Chapter 54: Power Has a Price

The fallout was immediate.

Luciano knew it would be.

But even he didn't expect how fast Victor would move.

"Three contracts—gone."

The report hit the table hard.

Sophia, sitting nearby, looked up instantly.

"What do you mean gone?"

Luciano didn't answer.

His eyes were locked on the documents.

Sharp.

Cold.

"They pulled out overnight," one of his men continued.

"Same wording. Same excuse."

Sophia frowned.

"That's not a coincidence."

Luciano's jaw tightened.

"No."

A pause.

Then—

"It's him."

Victor.

Sophia felt it immediately.

"He's retaliating."

Luciano leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable.

"He's trying to."

"Trying?" she repeated.

Luciano's gaze lifted to hers.

"Let him."

That confidence—

It was dangerous.

Sophia shook her head slightly.

"He's not just attacking your business."

A pause.

"He's trying to get to you."

Luciano didn't deny it.

"I know."

Silence.

Heavy.

"And you still think this is nothing?" she asked.

Luciano stood.

Slow.

Controlled.

"It's not nothing."

He walked toward her.

Stopping just in front of her.

"It's a message."

Sophia's chest tightened.

"And what's yours back?"

Luciano's eyes darkened.

"That he picked the wrong person."

Later that day—

The city buzzed with quiet tension.

Deals shifting.

Names being whispered.

And at the center of it—

Luciano Marino.

But Victor wasn't done.

Because this time—

He didn't come to the mansion.

He didn't need to.

Sophia found out the hard way.

She had stepped out.

Just briefly.

A quiet café.

A moment to breathe.

For the first time in days—

She felt… normal.

Until she saw him.

Victor.

Sitting across from her—

Like he had been waiting.

Her stomach dropped.

"You're bold," she said.

He smiled slightly.

"You noticed."

Sophia stood immediately.

"I'm leaving."

But his voice stopped her.

"You cost him a lot today."

She froze.

Slowly turning back.

"That wasn't me," she said.

Victor leaned back.

"Everything he loses now… ties back to you."

Her chest tightened.

"That's your doing."

He shrugged lightly.

"Maybe."

A pause.

"But it works, doesn't it?"

Sophia's jaw clenched.

"You're not getting to him through me."

Victor's gaze sharpened.

"I already am."

Silence.

"People are watching," he continued.

"They're asking questions."

Sophia felt it—

That shift.

That danger.

"He's losing control," Victor added quietly.

"And you're the reason."

Her heart pounded.

"Stop."

But he leaned forward slightly.

"You think he'll choose you… when everything starts falling apart?"

That hit.

Hard.

Sophia didn't answer.

Because for a second—

That doubt tried to creep in.

But then—

She stepped closer instead.

"You don't know him," she said firmly.

Victor studied her.

"And you do?"

A pause.

Then—

"Yes."

That confidence—

It wasn't fake.

Victor smiled again.

But this time—

It wasn't amused.

"We'll see."

Sophia turned—

Walking away without another word.

That night—

Luciano didn't look surprised when she told him.

"He approached you," he said.

Sophia nodded.

Luciano exhaled slowly.

"He's escalating."

"Luciano…" she hesitated,

"This isn't just business anymore."

"I know."

Silence.

"And if this keeps going?" she asked.

Luciano stepped closer.

But stopped just before touching her.

"It won't."

Her brows furrowed.

"Why?"

His voice dropped.

"Because I'm ending it."

And the way he said it—

This wasn't a threat.

It was a decision.

Luciano didn't wait.

He didn't plan slowly.

Didn't hesitate.

He moved.

"Every contract Victor touched—freeze it," he ordered.

Men moved instantly.

Phones ringing.

Orders flying.

"Cut his supply lines."

"Yes, boss."

"Pull every investor we control."

Sophia watched him.

This wasn't the controlled man she had been seeing lately.

This was something else.

Cold.

Strategic.

Dangerous.

"You're going to destroy him," she said quietly.

Luciano didn't look at her.

"I already started."

By midday—

Victor's empire began to crack.

Deals collapsing.

Accounts locked.

Partners pulling away.

By evening—

It was bleeding.

But Victor didn't fold.

He escalated.

Sophia didn't see it coming.

She had stepped out again—

This time with guards.

Careful.

Prepared.

Or so she thought.

The car stopped at a quiet street.

Too quiet.

Her chest tightened.

"Why are we stopping?"

No answer.

Then—

The door opened.

Not by her guard.

A stranger.

Her heart dropped instantly.

"Get out," he said.

"No."

His hand reached in—

Trying to grab her.

Sophia reacted immediately.

She pulled back—

Kicking out hard—

Catching him off guard.

"Don't touch me!" she snapped.

Chaos erupted.

Another man moved in—

Trying to force her out—

Sophia struggled—

Pushing—

Fighting—

"No—!"

A gunshot rang out.

Everything froze.

Then—

More shots.

Her guards.

Returning fire.

The men backed off—

Retreating quickly.

And just like that—

They were gone.

Sophia sat there—

Breathing hard.

Shaking.

Her guard turned to her.

"Miss, are you okay?"

She nodded—

But her hands trembled.

"I'm fine…"

But she wasn't.

Luciano found out in minutes.

And this time—

There was no control.

"They touched her?" he asked.

His voice was low.

Too low.

"They tried," his man said.

That was enough.

Luciano stood slowly.

"Find him."

No hesitation.

No second thought.

"Tonight."

Victor didn't get a warning.

Luciano's men stormed one of his remaining properties—

Breaking through security like it wasn't there.

Victor barely had time to react—

Before Luciano was in front of him.

"You sent them," Luciano said.

Victor smirked.

"You're losing control."

The punch shut him up.

Hard.

"You don't go near her," Luciano growled.

Victor staggered—

Laughing weakly.

"You're the one who made her a target."

That—

That snapped something.

Luciano grabbed him—

Slamming him down.

"You don't get to say her name," he said.

The beating wasn't quick.

It wasn't clean.

It was calculated destruction.

"You wanted war," Luciano said.

Another hit.

"Now you're losing it."

Victor barely stayed conscious.

But even then—

He smiled.

"You won't stop me…"

Luciano leaned closer.

"I already have."

Back at the mansion—

Sophia sat on the bed.

Still shaken.

Still replaying everything.

The door opened.

Luciano.

He stopped the moment he saw her.

And just like that—

Everything in him changed.

"Sophia…"

She looked up.

"I'm okay," she said softly.

But her voice—

Still trembled.

Luciano stepped closer—

Then stopped.

Remembering.

A pause.

Sophia stood slowly.

Closing the distance herself.

That was all it took.

Luciano pulled her into him—

Careful.

Controlled.

Not forcing.

Not overwhelming.

Just holding.

"They tried," she whispered.

His jaw tightened.

"I know."

A pause.

"I won't let it happen again."

She pulled back slightly.

Looking at him.

"You can't control everything."

Silence.

Luciano exhaled slowly.

"I can control this."

Her heart softened slightly.

"Then don't do it alone," she said.

That—

That hit.

Luciano nodded once.

"Together," he said.

And this time—

It wasn't just a promise.

It was war.
