Tengen.
He or rather she, is the most famous identity in the world of jujutsu, after Satoru Gojo of course.
But, in one place where even Gojo Satoru can't match Tengen was her history with the world of jujutsu and her astronomical importance to the world of jujutsu.
Cause unlike Gojo, who without his title of the strongest and more than enough qualifications to justify the designation, even he can't outrun the power of time.
Sooner or later, even the mighty Satoru Gojo would grow old and die. Tengen was different though.
All because of her cursed technique.
Immortality.
Her technique grants pseudo-immortality to its user, and that is what has kept her alive for over a thousand years. She is the only recognized person still alive who has seen the golden era of jujutsu and survived that bloodshed-torn era.
However, regardless of the futility of these titles and achievements which could or could not be true, her importance to the world of jujutsu was never actually tied to how long she had lived.
While her pseudo-immortality had played a big part in it, what really at its core made her extremely important for the world of jujutsu as a whole was her ability to create barriers.
In fact, in this exact moment, everyone in Japan was under many of her barriers.
In order to suppress the outbreak of curses in Japan, Tengen had erected several purification barriers to support the efficacy of barrier techniques.
Since she had been alive for such a long time, she had almost forever to refine her barrier techniques to such a degree that she could handle a barrier of an entire nation level.
She is a big reason why the majority of curse users are born in the country of Japan, because her barrier doesn't let the cursed energy dissipate.
Not only that, Tengen placed many pure barriers across Japan in order to limit the birth of cursed spirits and help calibrate the barrier techniques of the assistant managers.
Now, some might wonder why suddenly I'm so interested in a figure which was all but only slightly hinted and mentioned at the starting of season two, in the Hidden Inventory arc.
Cause, we need to somehow now arrange a meeting with her out of the blue.
"Are you certain? I heard no one can meet Tengen until Tengen wants them to." Nobara added with a bit of a dubious look on her face, one which says that she was highly doubtful of the plan which Yaga and others cooked up after she and Megumi finally dragged back Itadori to the Jujutsu Tech.
Of course they didn't come alone, along with them was a death painting and the long-lost second year they never got to meet, and for whom she never got to go to Kyoto.
Yes, Nobara Kugisaki wasn't forgetting why the Tokyo students couldn't go to Kyoto, cause a certain overpowered side character had to win the last year's Kyoto Sister Exchange Event.
The girl gave a resentful glare to Okkotsu who didn't get why she was being so hostile all of a sudden and awkwardly looked away hoping she would just stop with that resentful look.
They have arrived not so long ago. Of course everyone expected the three primary protagonists.
But the entry of Okkotsu Yuta and Choso was, well, explosive to say the least.
"Yuta." Maki and Panda called out simultaneously.
Of course, Toge also added his usual way of greeting, "Salmon." Which also corresponds to anything between good, yes, and positive in his books. Apparently it's also doubles as a greeting as well.
"Long time no see everyone." Yuta greeted with his wide smile, looking genuinely happy seeing them after such a long time.
For a second, I couldn't even recognize him from what I saw back in the jujutsu headquarters.
He now looked a lot more, Yuta, the one I recalled from the JJK 0 Movie.
"What with you going to meet those old foggies huh." Maki asked, almost demanded the answer.
Yuta had the decency to look a bit sheepish under her glare. Though that only remained for a second before he too noticed the obvious difference in Maki which was honestly hard to unsee for any jujutsu sorcerer adept with using cursed energy, specially sensing it.
"Maki, your curse energy." Yuta muttered in surprise.
Everyone's attention went back to her. All of them were interested to know about that.
While when everyone asked her the first time they noticed, she only stated that, "the new guy helped me get rid of it."
But she never disclosed how. Something which I appreciated no doubt.
"It's a long story, just things took place and I lost it. And what a pain it was all this time." Maki gave an offhand reply, technically saying nothing while still replying that that is all you're gonna get out of me.
Yuta chuckled with a sweat drop, but dropped the matter. As long as she was good with it.
"Now you, what were you there with those old fossils yesterday?"
"Well…" Yuta too sighed, "It's a long story."
And thus he had to explain how the higher-ups had tasked him to find Itadori here and kill him. Going so far as to making him take a binding vow from him that he will kill Itadori.
"Don't tell you agree with that." Panda looked horrified.
Once again he looked quite sheepish but he nodded.
"I did… but only to save Itadori." He nodded.
"You agree to kill him to save him. You certain the African sun haven't fried your brain Okkotsu." Yaga looked baffled at the boy's response to the point he almost let go of his usual composure.
Nobara on the side snorted at that, while both she and Megumi weren't there when Itadori and Okkotsu duked it out, they could tell by the destruction alone that it wasn't anything she wished to witness anytime soon.
By the time they arrived, Itadori was already unconscious and this man was standing above him waiting for him to wake up.
Yuta smiled awkwardly before finally explaining what really took place. Turned out Gojo gave him a visit a little while ago, apparently the man felt like something bad might take place in recent time, and asked Yuta to look after Yuji.
Should I praise his insight or curse him for getting sealed even after knowing something bad was coming was beyond me.
Anyways, following Gojo's visit when later Yuta got summoned by the higher-ups after Shibuya.
He knew what he had to do, find Yuji and protect him from the higher-ups. The only problem was that, if not him, then the higher-ups would have tasked someone else after Yuji.
To stop any of their attempts, he took the task himself, even ended up giving a binding vow to assure them that he will do the mission given to him.
And technically he did, but he used a loophole to cheat. According to the binding vow he supposed to kill Itadori Yuji. Which he did by piercing Yuji's heart and stopping it.
But then he immediately used reverse cursed energy to heal him back up and restarting his heart, bringing him back to life.
If it was someone else, they might have really died, but Yuta was betting on the fact that Yuji already once had come back to life thanks to Sukuna himself. If anything he had survived his entire heart getting ripped out from his chest, a minor stab shouldn't have taken him down right!
Needless to say, the bet paid out well. The news of Yuji's death was delivered to the higher-ups while Yuta too was gotten off easy from the binding vow he made with them.
And that was only the one-sided story of Yuta Okkotsu. There was still the entire Shibuya incident which someone had to explain to him. He knew most of it though so that didn't take very long. Thankfully.
"Hello, I'm Yuta Okkotsu. Nice to meet you. Sorry I couldn't introduce myself yesterday when we met." Yuta said with a soft smile and raised his hand for a handshake towards me.
"Yeah, same. Names Akindo. Yami Akindo. Nice to meet you as well." I nodded and took the hand. The moment I touched him though, I could once again feel the overwhelming cursed energy he was bottling inside him.
He even had good enough control to make it less than it actually was. And there was so much of it.
If he was a bonfire then I looked like a mere candle against this man's cursed energy reserves.
Attention towards me was fleeting cause of the kind of situation we found ourselves in, and I wouldn't have it any other way myself.
Once the general summary on both sides was over, we actually started to plan what to do and the result was as mentioned above.
Tengen.
"What else we can do, we need intel on what's going on inside those barriers and only Tengen can help us. We have to meet him, either he wants it or not." Maki snarled.
"She…"
"Pardon."
"Tengen is a woman."
"Really!"
For a second everyone was taken aback but took the fact for what it was and moved on.
"Anyways, the real question is how we to meet her, if she doesn't want us to?"
This conversation was going on for a while now and ultimately the final outcome everyone landed on was that they can't wait anymore.
They had to go inside those barriers and act.
And when the matter of what to act on, beside releasing Satoru Gojo of course, arguably their one way ticket to solving this entire mess, the only name which came up was Tengen.
Only she knew what exactly was happening inside those barriers, so we had no other option but to arrange a meeting with this thousand-year-old otaku lady somehow.
"I can do it." Suddenly a voice came, making everyone turn their head towards him.
This was none other than the death painting himself, and yet another brother of Itadori in this series.
Choso.
I was just happy that I knew the man cause he was there in season 2 of the anime, otherwise I would have been hella confused by now.
"You can find Tengen inside the Tombs of Stars?"
"How?"
Almost everyone seemed to be asking the same question.
Choso took a pause before replying.
"I can sense my brothers inside there. No matter how many barriers are layered in that place, as long as my connection to my brothers is there, I can find the right direction even if the space itself shifts inside. I can find them." Choso said with confidence.
"The death paintings…" Megumi muttered as if realization dawned onto him. And that was more than enough for him. He needed to go inside those barriers to save his sister, and he doesn't care what path he has to take for that, he'll do it.
"Awesome. Then what are we waiting for. Let's get going." Yuji grinned.
"Hold on…" Maki called out suddenly stopping everyone.
"Huh…?"
"That all is fine and all, but don't you think you first might wanna explain, who is this." Maki pointed at Choso with a stare.
And as if thunder rang past everyone, everyone snapped at him.
"Yes…"
"Who are you exactly?" They asked.
At least those who didn't know yet that Choso was working for the enemies not so long ago.
Yuji looked helpless at that. What is he supposed to say.
"Hmm… well I guess he is my big brother for now."
Choso's eyes glittered up.
"YUJI…!"
xXx
A/N : Bumta finally in the house guys, and we are going to meet the Ancient Otaku Lady soon.
Forgive me to go into a lot of cannon knowledge and repeating them here and the upcoming two or three chapters, but seeing how difficult the general know how in JJK, I rather explain everything correctly instead of just assuming that you guys already know what's going on, even when the Third Season has already aired.
Would appreciate stones if you can spare any. Thank you.
