Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 : The Big Boss Arrives...

Ryomen Sukuna.

A name which had terrorised the sorcerers of the Heian Era of Jujutsu. The strongest sorcerer of the past and the demon.

Said to be born with four eyes, four hands, and two mouths. He was a complete disaster which most wouldn't even wish to discuss in the modern era.

It was said that no one was able to defeat him, and even till the end he remained undefeated. However, there was no end for him in reality.

He never died, in fact, he turned himself into cursed objects, all of his 20 fingers from four arms holding his power equally.

For years, the higher-ups of Jujutsu society tried to destroy those fingers but it remained an impossible task.

At least until, a perfect host was found for them. And that host was Itadori Yuji. Sukuna can't take control of him since Itadori Yuji acted like a natural suppressor for Sukuna's powers and consciousness.

However, that was only if Itadori had been given enough time to adapt to the multiple fingers he ate before consuming more.

And in the absence of the strongest sorcerer of the modern era, Satoru Gojo, Sukuna's awakening was nothing less than a disaster.

It was needless to say that we were cooked.

I just remained there, unmoving, and kept on breathing just like everyone else upon seeing the King of Curses slowly taking over Itadori's body. There were more grievances in my heart currently than there were curses running around Shibuya.

There he stood in Yuji's body, completely nonchalant, and yet, there wasn't much human left in the way he carried himself.

Sukuna moved around in Yuji's body a bit, rotating his shoulders and neck to get a better grip on the body. All of Yuji's wounds were gone the moment he took control. Sukuna's presence alone was terrifying.

His eyes moved slowly, taking in everything around him. All he saw were statues; none dared to move there.

None except one of course, Uraume.

She slowly approached him and then knelt in front of him, lowering herself into a kneel, her head bowed in complete submission.

Sukuna looked at her. For a second, there was no recognition in his eyes, only mild curiosity until he finally figured out by the cursed energy signature who he was looking at.

"...Uraume."

"Sukuna-Sama..." Uraume grinned much like her master, deadly and cold. Sweat was forming over others' heads, including my own. My eyes darted ever so slightly towards the exit, it felt too far, which otherwise would have taken me less than 5 seconds to walk over.

"Where are my other fingers?" Sukuna asked, after a bit of pointless chit-chat with Uraume.

Uraume blinked, and then her lips pursed, her eyes darted back to the rubble they were standing on, and her anger for Choso just grew even further.

Sukuna didn't bother asking again, she would get them later on. They weren't as important right now. Slowly, he turned his gaze toward the rest of us.

And smiled. It wasn't a kind expression.

"I wonder…" he began, his voice light, almost thoughtful, "how the brat would feel if I killed all of you myself."

Man, I knew the guy didn't like Yuji, but to kill us just so he can see Yuji all broken? That's not fair, at least not to me. I don't even know Yuji.

My hands clenched, trying to find any way out of this situation. Frontal combat was suicide. Running away didn't seem possible with Sukuna's speed and lethal slashes.

My eyes went towards Nobara, who was equally petrified, and then to the only person who might have some chance of getting us out of here. Todo.

His technique might help, but can he take all of us out in time? Highly unlikely unless Sukuna intentionally let us go.

'God why... I know I have been complaining a bit too much, but if anything it's your fault, through and through.

What kind of f*cking luck is this?

Did you outsource writing my fate to the devil or something?

My lower lips quivered, felt like my eyes were stinging. It was so unfair. I try my best and once again I was here, facing an even bigger monster than Mahoraga. How is that fair?

If my life in this world is going to be all about surviving one monster after another, what's the point of living? Why send me here, god?

There were so much I wished to say, but what was the point? There was no one hearing my complaints. It wouldn't matter.

I sighed. Deflated.

'If only I could live a normal life for one day. Just one. Eat whatever I want, kiss a girl, play video games.'

It is said that only upon the loss of certain things we take for granted that their real value is shown.

And I couldn't even remember whether I ever had them.

My regret-filled eyes turned to Sukuna again. Once again the helplessness of my situation gardening anger inside me.

'F*ck it, I have come to terms with death long enough. If I'll die anyway, and I can't change that outcome, I will die fighting.'

I took a deep breath and got ready, cause damn it all, I'm not going that quietly.

"So, which one of you is ready to die first?" Sukuna asked, grinning madly, fingers roaming towards us directly, wherever it would stop, a lethal slash would cut open that person.

And yet, I found my legs taking steps forward.

"Oi, what are you doing you idiot?" Nobara's eyes widened upon my actions, she chided with a panicked tone.

"Oh, we have a volunteer." Sukuna's eyes fixed on me, amusement darting into them.

"Something like that," I chuckled.

And honestly, I just had it with this back and forth. Either I'll die, or I'll survive like how I have been so far.

Either way, I accept it. The only thing which is unacceptable right now for me, is to linger in this state of constant frigde.

Dying is better then to live in the fear of death. At least I'll be in peace.

"I'm completely out of cursed energy. Most likely can't use my technique, and certainly will die tonight. But what the hell, I'm going down fighting." I grinned.

Sukuna instead of cutting me down in a single dismantle, actually grinned back.

"Not bad brat, seems like some modern sorcerers ain't that bad." He pointed his finger towards me, ready to end it. After all, for him, it was all a fun game.

However, what happened next even paused him when I brought both my hands together and formed a hand sign.

The exact same hand sign of his own domain. I was doing them.

Sukuna for the first time looked taken aback, and then the earlier grin turned into a full-blown smile.

"Interesting,"

"Not if it wouldn't even work, low on cursed energy, remember." I reminded him with an equal amount of mirth in my tone, strange how surprisingly nonchalant a person could be towards death when he just accepts it's an inevitable outcome.

I talked with him with the full realisation that I was about to die tonight. And thus, there was no fear, just amusement towards my own situation.

"Domain Expansion." I said, moving all the cursed energy I had in me. Sukuna's eyes narrowed slightly.

Instead of the reckless move to buy time he was expecting, the brat actually seemed to invoke a domain just now.

He could tell that it was a real domain, not a trick. Now he was honestly interested to see what kind of domain it would be. To use his own Enma Palm Sign, one which represents death itself.

I on the other hand felt like my body was on fire, pushing a domain to open with little to no cursed energy wasn't a good experience. It put a strain on your body and mind.

As if refusing to open, but I pushed it nonetheless. Blood leaked from my nostrils upon trying to force the domain open, a feeling of lightheadedness came over me.

My body shook, struggling to keep standing while I pushed my domain to open yet again. But every time I met with resistance, the lack of cursed energy acting like a wall in my way.

Like trying to make a car start without fuel, it wouldn't start but still sticking with the expectation that it will.

But what could I do, I only had that one trick. If even that wouldn't work.

"What else can I do?" I just chuckled to myself, defeated.

"Too bad, seems like that's all you are worth." Sukuna sighed, for a second genuinely looking disappointed.

Just as Sukuna raised his hand to cut me down, and move to the next worthless sorcerer important to Yuji, and Todo on the side seemed to raise his own hand to bail me out at the right time, something else happened.

The same feeling of lightheadedness washed over me and the next second, the ceiling above us broke apart once again. But this time around, it was from the upper ground floor.

The sound came without warning, a violent rupture followed by the collapse of an entire section of the structure. Rubble, concrete, and steel came crashing down in a sudden, overwhelming cascade that forced everything else into the background.

I barely had time to react. My body wasn't even in the best state to move in time.

I saw a figure come directly at me, crashing down from above, slamming straight into me.

Before I could even move out of the way, and the force of it knocked me flat just as the rest of the ceiling followed, burying me and the culprit currently on top of me down in piles and piles of rubble.

Darkness clouded my vision immediately, the falling rubble completed the job which that person did by coming crashing down on me.

And others could only watch in bafflement as one second I was there and the next, I disappeared under all that debris.
